Whisperingsand-The Beach House

WhisperingSand Beach House ligger i kustbyen Kilcunda, bara ~ 10km från Phillip Island / San Remo, ~ 14km från Wonthaggi på den fantastiska Bass Coast, och bara 1,5 timmar från Melbournes CBD. Det är den dolda pärla på baskusten och en bra semesterbase för regionen. Det finns många aktiviteter du kan göra runt området, surfa, fiske, skärmflygning, handglidning kustvandring, ridning / nämna några. Av orsak, vackra stränder, grill, picknick och lekplats, rockpooler, god mat / dryck är också bland listan över saker du kan göra.

Den WhsiperingSand Beach House ligger bara 300m till stränderna, 100m till kustvandrings / cykelvägar och Pub, ligger i en ganska gata bakom Kilcunda Pub (Ocean View Hotel) som är känd för inte bara en fantastisk utsikt över kusten från fronten däck, men också bra mat och gästfrihet.

Stående på balkongen i WhisperingSand Beach House, den spektakulära havsutsikten över Shelly Beach precis precis framför dig, ser vågorna rulla till stranden och lyssnar ljudet av vågor som dunter klipporna. Under sommarmånaderna kan du också se de fantastiska solnedgångarna över havet, även i vardagsrummet.

Shelly stranden, som har fin rock pool för barnen att leka, är rätt framför stranden hus, med endast <100m gångavstånd. Kilcunda surfing stranden ligger också inom gångavstånd.

Den återutvecklade George Coastal vandringsspåret ligger precis ovanför havet klippan med spektakulär utsikt Bass Coast inklusive Philip Island och Cape Paterson.

Den gamla Bass Coast Rail Trail (Anderson till Wonthaggi, ~ 16km) har också utvecklats till ett trevligt cykel- / vandringsleder som passerar många historiska gruvplatser med fantastiskt landskap.

Kort bilresa till San Remo (~ 8-10 min), du kan njuta av söndagsmarknaden där, eller till Philip öarna där mycket roligt och aktiviteter för familj och barn.

Även en kort bilresa (10-12min) till gruvstadskärnan i Wonthaggi, där stora varuhus och tjänster finns tillgängliga.

2 berättelse Beach House är helt inhägnad med en stor gård, och innehåller 2 separata bostäder (upp och ner) fullt utrustat litet kök och 2 badrum med dusch och separata toaletter. Perfekt för flera familjer semester tillsammans. Den har fyra sovrum (2 på övervåningen och 2 nere) med 2 queen size-sängar och 2 enkelsängar och 1 king-enkelsäng (BYO linne, eller kan förses med små avgifter).

Comfortable and close to beach with a view

Great communication with owner. House was old but comfortable. Needs some comfortable chairs for outdoor area. There was a lot of instructions for cleaning upon leaving. Would pay for cleaner next time.

Breathtaking views!

Spacious and clean house with a billion dollar view of Bass Strait from upstairs. The day we arrived we were impressed by the sparkling expanse of ocean and blue skies before us. When the weather changed, it was lovely to feel safe and snug looking out at the churning ocean and skies in the cold gale force winds, pelting rain and hail. Beautiful. Excellent communication by the host, too.

It's all about the ocean view!

It was fine for our budget. Beds were comfortable. Location was great & the view was great. Everything is very worn & dated though. It could do with a smart tv or dvd's to use in the dvd player. We also found the cleaning instructions a bit excessive, especially there was a Xmas tree in a garbage bag in the room. downstairs! Thank you for the early check in & late check out.

was good

house was in great location to Phillip Island, was a bit dissapointed there was no secure parking, by pics thought property had double gates for access to property, house was clean, but dinning floor mat was dangerous as i kept tripping over edges, TV remotes and Aircon remotes were hard to get working, and theres no hanging space for clothes, apart from that we had a great stay at Kilcundra and surrounding areas.

Enjoyable Christmas holiday experience with family, location 45 min from home our first Xmas away.

The property was large enough for my family, 5 teenage grandchildren my partner and our son. Kitchen I found was a little small but had enough of the kitchenware we needed, a little disappointed there was no barbecue, but would of been another thing to clean anyway. Property was close enough to the beach good exercise for the kids to walk to, good walking tracks nearby and a general store just on the main road. Wonthaggi is the closest town about a 10 minute drive if you wanted to buy extra groceries. The manager was very pleasant she left easy instructions to get into the house and we were left with a Christmas gift surprise we thoroughly enjoyed.

Great location

Location was great with beach just over the road (a short stroll); however beach not safe for swimming, more so for adventuring with beautiful rock pools & building sandcastles. Wonthaggi being only a short 10 mins drive was handy to stock up on supplies (major supermarkets/Bunnings/Kmart/restaurants & cafes etc). The mouth of the Powlett River is a 5 min drive which is a perfect spot for kayaking(kids first time - absolutely perfect). Can do kayaking, SUP or just relax in the water. With huge sand dunes as a back drop, it was something magical. Kids enjoyed running up the sand dunes (a boogie board to ride down is a great idea)! Phillip Island only a 15min drive. Cape Paterson (for safe swimming) only 25min drive. The house layout could cater for two families who are comfortable (with eachother) to holiday with bedrooms & bathroom/toilet upstairs and downstairs with tvs, a/c and dining tables and a (small) kitchen (upstairs) to share. Great size garden for kids if having a quiet day at the house. We enjoyed our stay, spent everyday out adventuring. She was very helpful and offered a nice surprise of the ability to checkin a lot earlier than usual check in time and upon request happily let us check out later than usual 10am, which we were very grateful for. Thank You Sue for a wonderful stay 😊

Property had not been cleaned properly

We did not enjoy our stay. Property had not been cleaned properly. Empty bottle of alcohol found next to the couch, obvious someone had slept on the couch, sand on the couch and pillows untidy. Used bathmat and toilet mat left, toilet not clean. Kitchen sink, bin lid tidy - etc.....Crumbs in cupboards. Unclean. I would never stay again. Grass not mowed, and BBQ need half hour clean before use. I took photos, and sent to owner , very disappointed. The Owner said the neighbour had checked the property I do not like the fact that the Owner relies on the previous guest to clean for the next guest. They should hire a cleaner to ensure the property is spotless for the next paying guest. We paid $300 per night for three nights. We travelled a long distance to find we needed to clean before we could stay.

A great get-away location

Lots of room in this house. Wonderful view of the water and sun sets from the lounge room and balcony. Within walking distance of beaches / coastal trails / general store etc. Easy access to Phillip Island and Wonthaggi. Host was great to deal with. Thank you for our lovely Kilcunda short stay.

Nice, small property for cozy stay

We were happy very happy with Sue. She was very efficient with her communication, and allowed us to check out a little later. House was walking distance to the shops and beach, and short drive to San Remo. Would be happy to go back again.

Nice spot to relax

An older two storey house but very clean and tidy. Not too far from the pub or the beach. We had a few wet days during our visit but managed to keep warm and cosy.

Perfect weekend getaway

An easy drive from Melbourne, Whispering Sand in Kilkunda was just as perfect for a weekend away by myself as it would be for the extended family or group of friends. Positioned just around the corner from the Killy Pub, and set back a street from the highway, the location is quiet and convenient. From the balcony and main bedroom on the top floor, you can watch the sun setting over the famous cliffs. The house living areas (upstairs and downstairs) are comfortable and everything that was needed was provided. The communication with Sue was excellent and she was very responsive. I can’t wait to stay again, just not sure who I’ll take with me… don’t want too many people finding out about the gem that is Kilkunda, and the Whispering Sands. Thanks again Sue.
