Alte Friedrichsburg ligger på Cora St, en av de mest charmiga och historiska gatorna i staden, och gör inte besviken på att berätta historien om 1900-talets Fredericksburg. Påkostade dekorerade med ursprungliga tyska nybyggare, detta är en som inte får missa av historiaens avicionados och enastående elegans. Förgrenar sig från en trevlig foajé, till vänster hittar du en glänsande salong ockuperad av överflödiga sittplatser, ett påkostat överdimensionerat matta och vackra historiska ekgolv medan till höger ligger det första sovrummet, lämpligt benämnt "smekmånadssvit", som har en storslagen himmelsäng kompletterad med ekgolv som fortsätter från salongen och foajén. Vidare finns ett härligt andra sovrum med en utsmyckad trägavel och en andra sittgrupp som är lite mindre formell än salongen men lika utsökt inredda. Båda badrummen i hemmet har önskvärda grå stengolv med det ena med en romantisk klofotfot med handhållen dusch och den andra en modern duschkabin. Den verkliga pärla i hemmet måste dock vara den spektakulära matsalen. Ett storslagen ekbord med plats för åtta är omringat av exceptionella träskåp i trä med fina kristaller och polerat silver som säkert gör varje måltid till ett speciellt tillfälle.

Din värd, Glenn Treibs, är en välkänd lokalhistoriker och är tillgänglig för sina gäster för att besvara frågor om husets historia och Fredericksburg utan kostnad.

Property was not clean and I did not feel comfortable keeping my wife and daughter there so I purchased a separate place at my expense. Property manager requested photos but I had left. I did not receive refund but was worth the comfort for my family

Overwhelmed

The pictures in the add are somewhat misleading. The house has way more furniture and 'stuff' setting around. There is so much antique collections clutter there is no place to set your own luggage and personal items. Even the kitchen had full cabinets and counters. Also, being two women traveling alone, not being able to completely cover some of the windows was discouraging. We also had someone come and clean the back patio while we were out shopping. A little unsettling. They also removed a box we had set outside for recycling our glass water bottles. We still enjoyed our stay in Fredricksburg but we won't choose this house again. Thank you.

A lot of clutter

The house was cluttered with a lot of old relics… very musty when we first arrived. Kept the AC very cold to help me not have asthma attacks. There was a lot of old things to look at and read. Was difficult to get comfortable on the old furniture. The larger bed had a dip in the middle of the bed that my husband and I rolled into. We were Out on the town a lot and made It all work out. The clutter disturbed our ability to really relax though. It was everywhere!! They did say that it was an old house, but I’ve stayed in many that don’t smell musty and are decorated with the dated style, but without all the clutter. Wasn’t really for us.

Fredericksburg getaway

This was an old house, full of old furniture, and smelled like it. Beautiful furnishings, but way too much of it. Every armoire, chest and closet was full of old shoes, hats and clothes, so there was no place to put our stuff. The furniture was very uncomfortable, except for the beds which were fine. If you love antiques, and are charmed by old houses, this is the house for you.

Spooky, kitschy, no space to spread out.

This house has an odd layout, with one bedroom being basically in the middle of the house. The description says the second bedroom didn’t have a door, but in reality you have to walk through the bedroom to get anywhere in the house. Every surface is covered with old stuff, every closet is full, every drawer as well, so guests don’t have room to unpack. It’s can, but coated with weird, kinda spiky old stuff. We don’t use the kitchen except for the coffee maker. They want really a communal space that was comfortable. I would not recommend for families, and I worked definitely not stay again.

The faceless doll, the flexing floors

This place is a museum. Every inch is covered in antiques. We parked in the nice driveway. After that it got creepy. The back patio was cluttered in finds. At The back door entry we were greeted by a faceless doll sitting in a chair facing the entry. The other creepy dolls and antique furniture had me creeped out. The floors need a lot of bracing, as I walked all the nicknacks would clink and chime with the flexing floor. I couldn’t stay here. Was too haunted feeling for us. Some may love this place.

Back In Time

If you’re in to Victorian style this is a good place to experience it . I enjoyed every room and the two nights there. I did not even leave the whole time I was there it was so much to explore.

Filthy

First impression outside and pictures were great Walk up to the back porch and it's completely dirty. If you wanted to sit down, you would need to clean everything first open the door and the carpet had not been vacuumed. They were beautiful antiques everywhere went into the bathroom and there was soap scum on the beautiful white tub, I ran my finger over to make sure that it was so it was had to call housekeeping to come clean and the dust. The house is unbelievable when I let housekeeping know about it and they came and did nothing about the dust grab a glass out of the cabinet to have some water to drink , and the glass has been cleaned with furniture polish

STOP RENTING THIS ONE OUT

I could write a novel - but the number one thing people need to know is this house literally has mold growing down the interior walls in the bedrooms. We did report it to the management company and hopefully the roof leak that has caused this will be tended to immediately before anyone else stays there. We really felt like our money should have been returned because of the health issues we were experiencing while there.

We chose this property due to its historic charm that we saw in pictures. However, it is much more cluttered in person than it appears in the photos. The back sunroom area was lacking the chairs that appeared in the pictures and instead had a bed. The couches were incredibly uncomfortable and we spent most of our nights sitting on the floor. This would be very comfortable and cute with better seating and some declutterring

Great location but like staying in a museum instead of a comfortable home with comfortable beds and place to sit and visit. Every surface covered with stuff. Very interesting stuff but still way too much. And had to use the backdoor only. Not kid friendly or for senior adults.

Crowded and creepy

Porches had delapitated furniture and little relaxing room. Very crowded with furniture and antiques. Stubbed our toes, hard to get thru living room. Uncomfortable furniture. One shelf cover fell off and bruised my granddaughters leg. No where for us to watch tv as it’s in small bedroom with one chair viewing it. Back yard and flower bed just a mess. Would be dangerous for kids.

This is museum, not a VRBO

I will start off by telling you I am a history professor and of course appreciate history. However, this home should be a museum. Lots of valuable artifacts. And the smell (musky, old). And the carpet. Yuck. The location was great but that’s about it. The place is junked up. Find a more relaxing place to stay.

Great if you like a house filled to the brim with antiques

Pros: running water (including hot water), electricity, bathrooms, clean beds. Within walking distance to Main Street. Cons: no heat going to the room w/ the single bed. Had to turn up the heat in order to get that room comfortable for sleeping while the rest of the house got hot. A LOT of antiques and history to go through in this home, but it is too much for anyone to be comfortable. Every drawer. Every cabinet. Every closet. Every surface. Every countertop. All filled with too much stuff. We had nowhere to unpack our things for our stay as we felt we were intruding if we put a suitcase in a closet or hung clothes in a closet that already was full of other things. Too much furniture but no furniture for a group to sit in and be around to have conversation at the end of a long day. We ended up sitting at the kitchen table in very uncomfortable chairs so we could sit around and talk. Two coffee pots: the large one does not work and the small one took half an hour to brew 5 cups. Difficult to access electric outlets to plug in phones to charge. Nightlights full of dust and dead bugs. Bedroom off the kitchen has a ceiling fan that is broken. The backyard is overgrown and the back porch is full of more antiques and furniture—-again not comfortable nor inviting (or clean) to guests to make themselves at home. Someone left food in the baby carriage on the front porch prior to our arrival and we had no idea what it was or how long it had been there.

A Place Left in Time

We loved our stay at the Alte house. We love history, we love antiques and we love charming. This is the place to stay to appreciate history at it's finest. This is a place for adult only company. There are too many priceless antiques for children to be around. We are so thankful for the opportunity to stay here. We will hold it in our hearts. If you remove the a/c and electric, the house transports you back to the early 1900's. Beautiful antique furniture in the house, along with an abundance of period pieces. If you are looking to go back to the early 1900's, then this is the place for you!

Didn’t stay if you have children

My 11 year old and 5 year old were completely freaked out when they saw the inside and we told them we were spending the night, lots of dolls. To be honest, my wife and I did not want to stay there either. The house is very cluttered and has a creepily historic Victorian vibe. We ended up getting a hotel. If you want an authentic Victorian house this is this place to book. Beautiful but not family friendly.
