The host was wonderful and very responsive. The house is very nice with everything we needed for a quick weekend trip for my son’s wedding. Close to downtown Oshkosh, but still out in a secluded lake neighborhood. Wish we could have stayed longer, but we’ll be back!!

Great location & family spot

Cozy with a great view. A great family spot by the lake with beautiful trees and a good set up. Coffee and amenities were available and this property had a host that cared and shared their cabin like we were family.

Great place

This is a lovely property in a quiet neighborhood. The owner was great to work with and very friendly. There was alot of fun stuff to do from the paddleboards to yard games. We all had the best time!

Beautiful home

Great place with a lovely setting. We rated the home as well as we could. Five stars for the host who was awesome. Unfortunately the smell of cat urine was so thick in the air that we had to buy air fresheners and have candles lit all weekend. A lovely place and a great host, but we are sensitive to animal odors and no review mentioned this, nor did the wonderful owner.

One of the best VRBO

We loved the location, which is in a residential area and very little traffic so we could take a walk. We loved the home: comfortable beds, clean, spacious for 7 people. We never ran out of hot water for showers. Communication with the owners was easy. Close to the outlet mall, Paine Art Center, EAA museum and restaurants. This was one of the best VRBO we have ever stayed at.

Couldn't be a better location

Perfect escape from the world

This was a wonderful getaway from our everyday routines. 1 hour from home, but feels like a world away sitting outside in the morning with coffee and looking at the lake. The 8 teenagers I brought also had a great weekend. (The kids lived out on the paddle boards and kayak.) Thank you, Katie for sharing your home & giving my crew memories of a lifetime!

family fun

Stayed in the cabin over the 4th of july weekend. We had a wonderful time, everything was as described and we loved the lake and the area. I would only suggest bug spray.... I think we arrived as every mosquito in the county hatched. LOL Despite that we totally enjoyed our time and the paddle boards were a great way to see a little of the lake.

Wonderful low key stay

We had a great time. The shallow water off the dock was great for our young boys. We loved the kayak and paddle boards and had a fire every night. We did some fishing off the dock and my 6 year old caught his first fish! We cooked in every night and used the very nice propane grill. Bring bug spray!! We bought some fogger and did the grass each night before our fire which seemed to help. We had a great time!

Celebrating Family

The house was a good size for us. It had everything we needed. Glad there was a dish washer, micro wave, wash machine and dryer. I liked the placement of the two bath rooms. Wish the dock area was deeper for the boat. It was great for the people taking on the water boards. We were lucky with the weather. We hung around the water most of the time. The evening campfires were good. A very relaxing time.

2nd Stay

The 1st time we stayed we gave a 10/10, so we had something to compare this visit to 5 years later. The place was immaculately clean as last time and the communication with the owner was stellar. However, there were a few “flaws” that we didn’t experience last time. The dishwasher didn’t clean the dishes thoroughly and it defaulted to the 2-1/2 hour full cycle. Having said that, it left particles of food on the dishes that either had to be rewashed by hand and/or saved for the next cycle. This happened with every load and we pre-washed/rinsed the dishes before putting them in. The cabinet doors would not stay closed. This drove me nuts. You can see there are little Velcro stickers they applied, but they don’t work no matter how much pressure was applied to closing them. I was losing my mind at first thinking how did I not close them? Then I noticed the Velcro and they stayed open the entire duration of our visit. Lastly, the paddle boards were a hit again, but unlike our last visit, you clearly see the kayak that we used on the property, but when my kids went to tip it upright, it was full of caked on mud, insects and cobwebs. This kayak was “garage kept” on our first visit so it was useable and in pristine condition back then. I cannot say the same with this visit and my kids were disappointed. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, but not as much as the first time we were there which made us come back this time around.

family long weekend

Unfortunately weather did not cooperate with us but we did have a day and a half for outdoor activities. Water was surprisingly warm and the kids (2 & 6) enjoyed swimming but had a hard time getting in and out without adult help because of wall along shoreline and depth of water, some seaweed but not bad, horseshoe pit needed upkeep, could not find the DVD player we looked everywhere which with all the rain would have come in handy, lots of games played. The deck and grill was nice but I spend timed cleaning both so we could use, sat down on chair and so many spider web on the back of my legs and everywhere, cleared the windows, floor and all furniture of lots of dead bugs and spider webs. Fire pit was great got to have one fire. House was well supplied and every body slept well except if you are a adult using bunk bed very uncomfortable and seemed no air in that room vents blocked. Had a slight order problem(believe it was in closet of first bedroom on the right and garage), light flickering over dinning room table and running out of drinking water(adults needing ice for cocktails) but Kathy quickly would respond and with the help of a wonderful neighbor make our stay the best it could be unfortunately my cell phone was very in and out, mostly out which might be what you want on family vacation time so very slow communication back and forth but we solved water problem. Kathy your house was very nice and thank you for letting us have a lakefront weekend with all the amenities anyone would need for summer fun on a lake. I hope people don't think this I a negative review because it is not 4 stars is great and if they had 4.5 I would have given it that, just a way of saying things Kathy could and future renters can think about.

We had the best week at the lake house! The home is spacious; the kitchen is large with tons of counter space and has everything you need. The living room is cozy and the washer and dryer came in handy. I brought my own paddleboard and access into the water is very easy as it's so shallow, don't even need to get wet if you don't want to as I stepped unto my board from the edge of the lawn's sidewalk. The cove was quiet and only a couple of boats departed from the neighboring docks so floating was super safe and enjoyable. We didn't use the 2 hard/foam paddleboards in the garage, but they were there if needed with a few lifejackets, as well as some blow up tubes. We were told the kayak may not be functioning. There were camp chairs in the garage. the firepit was nice and the neighbor brought us kindling as he was cleaning up his yard. Plenty of towels, and there was a basket of extra sunscreen and bug spray. I was surprised that the mosquitos weren't bad. Short drive to grocery stores and anything you need. We ate at several of the surrounding restaurants. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a wonderful week!

We are from the Chicago suburbs, and feel tied down to this area because of our jobs, family and friends, but have ALWAYS wanted to be in a less crowded, quieter area on the water somewhere. Our solution was to try the best of both worlds with this vacation rental and since we can't always be up north, we want to share our home away from home with you!

We currently live in the Chicago suburbs, so instead of upgrading to a house with a yard in Illinois, why not get a house on Lake Winnebago to enjoy some weekends and share with others on the rest!

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

The entire outdoor area is what initially attracted us to the home. Beautiful large yard with our own pier located in a quiet cove off Lake Winnebago. The cove is shallow and sandy, great for paddle-boarding / kayaks / swimming. The interior of the home is also quite cozy and comfortable as well, but we enjoy the outdoors the most :)
