Brookwood House är en hisnande egendom som ligger i Blue Ridge Mountains i sydvästra Virginia. Brookwood House, designat av Adam Cohen i Passivhaus-stil, är ett miljömedvetet retreatutrymme som är utformat för att ge lugn och avkoppling tillbaka till gästernas liv.

Nästan 8000 kvadratmeter rymlig, värmande energi väntar. Vi har sammanställt det perfekta utrymmet för att koppla av, varva ner och uttrycka dig kreativt. Brookwood är en idealisk miljö för konst, musik och enkel vila. Vi har en stor pool, badkar i jacuzzi-stil och en bäck för simning. Det finns en eldstad utanför och en eldstad inuti för att värma upp när du är klar.

Brookwood är ett doftfritt hem. Vi kräver att alla gäster tar en paus inte bara från deras livliga liv, utan också från konstgjorda kemikalier som finns i produkter vi använder varje dag. Very nice stay. The pool is amazing and the setting is very secluded despite being ten minutes from any service you may want. The staff was very responsive and very nice.

Relaxed bachelorette week!

Absolutely beautiful stay. Had my bachelorette weekend here, the house and views are just dreamy. Great communication with host, close to hiking and caverns- this place has it all!

We so enjoyed our time at Brookwood, we were ages 2-70, there was plenty of space to play, talk or play games together and many delightful spots to be alone to soak up the beauty, think or journal.We used the big table not only for family meals but also much art time, this home inspires creativity. AND THE POOL! We all enjoyed a swim or two each day. One night while star gazing we saw the International Space Station fly by. This home is a place to make treasured memories.

Boone’s Mill

We loved the surroundings and the pool. At one time during our week, we had 10 adults and 2 three year olds. There was always plenty of room for everybody. Driving toward Roanoke, there is a good choice of restaurants. Shannon was quick to respond to any questions. We would definitely return. Coming from South Carolina, the trip up to the house is quite harrowing, only to be done in the daylight to be safe.

Awesome stay

This is one of the best vacation rentals I've stayed at. The listing and pictures are accurate. The house is well cared for and well stocked. The view was great. Pool clean and great, even for their second week of pool season. Takes a little drive(30 minutes or so) for many of the hikes but not a huge deal. We would definitely recommend and come back.

Like an Italian Villa

This property looks and feels like an Italian villa - or what I imagine one to be. The house and grounds are fabulous- spacious, beautiful, peaceful. Everything you need is at your fingertips. We especially loved the enormous pool and the babbling creek beyond. There is original artwork at every turn and the mismatched dining chairs and plates give the place a bohemian feel. Kudos to Natalie and Shannon for asking any question we had immediately. Despite the feel of being in the country, Roanoke is only 10 minutes away with tons of good restaurants, walking and biking trails, activities and a selection of food shopping options. Also, the Blue Ridge Mountains offer a wide variety of hiking trails. We hope to return!

Family vaca

We had a great time at the Beautiful Brookwood Estate. We had 4 under 5 and they all had a great time the pool and creek were wonderful. There are a lot of things to do around Roanoke with littles and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip !!

Beautiful and relaxing hide away

Just outside the city and minutes from everything there is a gem of a home. It’s tucked into the mountains and sitting along a beautiful bold creek. We had family in town visiting and booked Brookwood and we were in no way disappointed. Beautiful home, beautiful setting and an excellent host. 10/10 recommended!!!

Mountain Solitude.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this well appointed cabin beside a babbling brook outside of Roanoke, VA. The rooms are thoughtfully decorated, and there are multiple locations to stretch out and relax and listen to the sounds of nature. There is a beautiful pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

spacious comfort

our family of 10, from ages 15 to 80, had such a pleasant week at Brookwood house. Unfortunately, it rained every day. however, we usually found some time to be able to use the lovely pool. The accommodations were very spacious for all of us to be together in one room or we could find plenty of areas for some quiet alone time as well. It is a beautiful house with a most interesting decor.

We had a very enjoyable time everything we needed was there and David (Caretaker)is fantastic. Lots of stairs and if older like us seniors it was difficult going down and back up from the pool. But otherwise we had a great time.

Peaceful Family Fun

Our family gathered for the second time at this unique location. The setting makes it a delight for any that love “the woods,” with a babbling brook nearby, songbirds serenading, AND a fun pool too! Two granddaughters learned to dive this week, and all had fun. The “secret room” is a treasure for our young grandson. It’s a lovely place in a beautiful area of our country. We hope to return to Brookwood House for our next family gathering.

Magical Vacation

Our adult children and their families all came at various points during the week to stay at Brookwood with us. From the moment we entered the door we were enchanted by the beauty ,artistry, and thoughtfully designed spaces for quiet and for connection. From the air hockey table to the 'secret room', to exploring the creek- our grandchildren were inspired and hooked! The adults loved the books, stereo system, ambiance, art, and the vision of Brookwood. The beds were super comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed and more.

Brookwood House June 4th-11th 2023

The property was very beautiful! We had a wonderful time and hope to come back someday. It was just 3 adults and 1 kid, we were supposed to have more people, but they had a medical emergency to tend to so we had a huge home all to ourselves! We have relatives in the area so we had them over a couple times for swimming and dining. Don't hesitate and book this place, you will not regret it! If i could give it 100 stars, their is no question that I would.

Girls Vacation

Property was as listed. Very large and decorated with much art. Enjoyed noticing something new everyday. We looked up the history of the property and thought it would be nice for the owners to have this available for visitors to read. Not convenient for cooking out at the pool and no table and chairs around the pool. There are lounge chairs and wicker chairs around the pool. Home is beautiful and very peaceful environment.

A beautiful and relaxing house 10/10

We stayed in Brookwood House as a group of friends with one toddler, 11 people in all. The house is beautiful with a very unique layout and lots of spaces to hang out in. We had dinner on the balcony every night and you can even play pool. It never felt crowded even with a big group. The kitchen is very well equipped and spacious. The rooms and beds are great. The best part of the house is it's location. It overlooks a river (you'll see some otters!) with ample outside space and a huge swimming pool. Overall the house was a perfect and relaxing getaway. David (the manager), Adam (the owner) and Jay (the caretaker) were all extremely helpful and responsive. We can't wait to go back!

Tranquil Retreat

We very much enjoyed our stay at Brookwood. There was so much to enjoy from the beautiful weather, the porch, the creek and all of the beauty that make Brookwood a home. My family and I booked the house for our daughters wedding at Sundara. It was close to the venue! The house was a great place to catch up with family and breathe. The ONLY negative that I would say is that the caretaker is a smoker and with the home being fragrance free requirement we could smell him smoking in many rooms. With the beautiful weather we opened the windows and sat outside, the smoking didn't make the visit the best. We will recommend the house to others and will plan another visit ourselves.

2nd year here- love this house!

This house is so relaxing, so comfortable, so warm and comforting. Love everything about it. Our family had a wonderful time! Because it’s fragrance free, they do provide detergent if you plan to do laundry- but heads up that they require you to only use the washer and dryer on clothes that haven’t been previously washed with fragranced detergent. Just a heads up for planning ahead. Lots of board games and towels, but only had two jigsaw puzzles - so definitely bring your own. We wish the fridge by the pool worked so we could put drinks in during the week. Having the pool house bathroom and shower is awesome. We love this house!

Wonderful!

An incredible relaxing and beautiful environment. It is hard to think of how I'd improve the location for a family gathering. We truly enjoyed the home, the amenities, and the hospitality provided by the guest manager. Fantastic! We prepared all of our own meals over the course of 4 days, and use of the kitchen space and all of the available supplies was wonderful. If you forgot to bring something for the kitchen, rest assured because there are likely extras in their pantry. There was plenty of room and sections of the home for a large gathering that also enabled private conversations and groupings, creating a wonderfully intimate and comfortable setting for catching-up with family after long periods away, and also finding time alone or with your partner. The whole place begs you to return to experience it during all four seasons.

Beautiful house

We are very happy we chose Brookwood house during our stay around Roanoke. Location is good, close to city and trails. The house is built along the creek so we can walk to the water from the back yard. Inside is beautifully decorated and there is a direct view of outside trees and creek from the dining table. This makes our breakfast and lunch more enjoyable. Chairs and sofas are comfortable. Rooms are spacious, quiet and clean. Huge kitchen area and full selection of cookware. We feel we can find everything we need for cooking and barbecue. Internet is slow, wifi is not quite stable in some rooms. Cellphone connection is better than I expected in mountain area. Our host David contacted us in advance and responded in time always. Overall, we recommend Brookwood house for family and friends stay.

Brookwood House is owner operated with a team of professionals who truly enjoy hosting guests from all over while you create memorable experiences.
I the owner, Adam am an architect, builder, sculptor and energy geek. In 1984 I moved to Floyd County,Virginia, where I designed and built in the Roanoke, Floyd and New River Valley area. I was co-owner of Structures Design/Build until I sold it several years ago. I have designed and built hundreds of homes for other folks. Brookwood is the fourth home I designed and built with my wife and life partner, Elizabeth.

The feeling we were striving for at Brookwood is one of relaxation, comfort and safety.
At the time we built I had 40+ employees and was working 7 days a week with no vacations,
I designed and built Brookwood to be a refuge and healing space. When I got home, I
wanted “instant calm and comfort”. We have certainly found the Brookwood “aura” to be this way. In the last 10 years, I have become a leader in the international Passivhaus movement, which is a cutting-edge technology for low energy high performance buildings.

The knowledge I have is now being sought after all over the world. This has led my wife and to relocate to Toronto, where I am acting as an educator for a Canadian Non-Profit promoting Passivhaus on the national level. I was also chosen for a 3-year Edmund Hillary Fellowship in 2018 in New Zealand as a Global Impact Entrepreneur and have just been awarded a permanent designation as an Edmund Hillary Fellow. So, Elizabeth and I have chosen to share Brookwood with others, so Welcome to Brookwood!
