Detta hus har en avskĂ€rmad veranda, 57 fot lĂ„ng, med utsikt över myrarna och en tidvattenbĂ€ck med utsikt över ön Sapelo i fjĂ€rran. Intill verandan finns ett dĂ€ck pĂ„ 16X18 fot. Sitt i vĂ„r bubbelpool hot tub pĂ„ natten pĂ„ dĂ€ck under en tak av lysande stjĂ€rnor, ominskad av civilisationens ljus. Det finns fem uppsĂ€ttningar franska dörrar som öppnar sig mot verandan pĂ„ sydöstra sidan. Öppna ytterdörren och franska dörrarna, och en mild bris blĂ„ser genom hela huset. ÄndĂ„ Ă€r hela huset ganska privat. VĂ„rt hus ligger intill, men borta frĂ„n ditt utsikt. Inga andra grannar Ă€r synliga.

Köket har utsikt över det stora rummet, med utsikt över trÀsket genom tre uppsÀttningar av franska dörrar. Det stora sovrummet ligger pÄ ena sidan av huset, med de andra tvÄ sovrummen pÄ andra sidan. TvÄ sovrum, med king size-sÀngar och sÀngklÀder med hög trÄd, har franska dörrar som öppnar upp till verandan. Eller sova pÄ sÀngen pÄ verandan, om du vill. Ett kontor och den och matsalen ligger i nordvÀst. De har utsikt över en nÀstan privat lagun, som du kan fiska i och Àr full av vilda djur och exotiska fÄglar, som inkluderar trÀstorkar, svartkronade nattheroner, vita ibis, stora ÀgretthÀger och snöiga ÀgretthÀger, smÄ blÄ hÀgrar, tri-fÀrgade hÀgrar, gröna hÀgrar, huva sammanslagningar och pileated hackspetsar. Norpor kommer ibland att foderas i tidvattenbÀcken intill huset. Det tredje sovrummet, med en queen size-sÀng, har utsikt över lagunen och ett myrhörn. Vi har ocksÄ Ätta cyklar (fem feta dÀck vuxna och tre ungdomar i olika storlekar). Om du tar med dig egna rekommenderar vi feta dÀckcyklar om du planerar att Äka pÄ nÄgon av de mÄnga sandiga vÀgarna. Men det finns mÄnga bra Äk för magra dÀckcyklar. För motorbÄtar finns det en offentlig lansering mot en avgift (back-in trailer gratis) nÄgra mil bort. Ta din egen bÄt ut till ön Sapelo (inom synhÄll av huset) och dess vackra strÀnder, eller ta fÀrjan pÄ $ 2 frÄn dess lansering en mil bort. Kör 25, min. till Harris Neck Wildlife Reserve och se de finaste fÄgellökarna pÄ Georgia Coast och förmodligen hela sydöstra Atlanten.

We had a great time. Kayaking was great, went out in the marsh everyday during our stay. Great bird watching. Hot tub was nice and relaxing. House is clean and had everything we needed. Don was great host, answered all our questions. We will definitely be back.

Marsh house does not disappoint

We loved everything about this gem of a property: the huge porch where we watched amazing sunrises, ate dinner, and relaxed on; the comfortable mattress in the master bedroom; great WiFi; fully stocked kitchen; and the hot tub to relax and count the stars after a full day! Our dog got lots of good sniffs during his walks on the property and we had little thrills seeing the two resident alligators in the pond near the house! Highly recommend this place for a tranquil and peaceful escape.

Very serene and relaxing stay

This was a very secluded, private place to stay at. There was plenty of space and the screened porch was amazing to just sit and watch the marsh. We had a couple of issues but the owner was pretty responsive. I will definitely be back to stay here again.

Relaxing Bliss

This property was a great place to decompress from a really intense conference. Quiet and beautiful with a great host! Easy to communicate with and the property was just as advertised. I'm already looking at my calendar to figure out when I can go back!

We Love the Marsh

As many others have stated, the view off the back screen porch is awesome! We also enjoyed watching the egrets and roseate spoonbills off in the marsh. The house was wonderful and the beautiful art throughout made us feel like we were in an art museum. Our hosts were fabulous greeting us when we arrived and providing lights when the power went out for a couple of hours (after effects of Hurricane Helene). We will definitely be back again to stay at this great location.

Outstanding stay!

What a great place for a family vacation! Very secluded beautiful views of the marsh! We kayaked and canoed just be mindful of the quick tide changes in this area. The ferry trip to Sapelo is well worth it! This is our second trip to this area. There is so much to do it's hard to fit all to see in one trip. The house is spacious and has all you need. The back porch is simply amazing! Star gazing is plentiful. Don is great to deal with! We will be back because we love the Golden Isles of Georgia!

A True Paradise!

My family and I had spent two amazing weeks at this beautiful home. It was everything that we had expected. Great kitchen, great living space, and an amazing view. Loved the breezes off the marsh land!! Every room felt like you were outside, but you were actually inside! Never had to leave the bed to see the sunrise. The owners are available if needed and are very helpful. It will be a trip well remembered.

Relaxing escape

We had a very relaxing time and sat on the deck taking in the beautiful view almost the entire trip. The view is very unique and like nothing else we had ever experienced. Being in the nature sanctuary was incredible and peaceful. The house could use a few updates in bedding and a deep clean would be nice but it was not enough to ruin the trip, we spent so much time outside that it wasn't a major issue. If you are a neat freak and expect a hotel like experience, this is not your house. A heads up for those with dogs, the nature refuge does not allow pets and you need papers to take the ferry with a dog so we were a little limited in activities but it was nice to just relax and be still for a weekend. The dogs loved walking the long gravel driveway off leash, just be careful of gators! We saw two but they did not bother us at all. All in all it was a slow paced and beautiful experience.

Southern hospitality at its finest!

Waking completely rested to the glow of sunrise over the golden saltmarshes and through the palms -blissful. What to do today? Take the ferry tour to Sapelo Island for a fun filled bus ride with Yvonne, walk along the trails at Harris Neck Natural Wildlife Refuge to check out the Ibis, Wood Storks, Herons, Turkeys, Gators and Turtles, Egrets, etc., eating at Chef Jerome's Old School Diner, Skippers, and the buffet at BJ's, bicycling the trails and roads recommended by Don and Susan, a trip to Jekyll Island and the fine book store, etc. The best was the personal invitations of several of Darien's residents to attend the Scottish Block Party with entertainment by a Scottish Rock and Roll band (Uncle Hamish and the Hooligans), the locals including Mike from the Wine/Cheese/Meat shop, and the bats that emerge in the evening from an old brick building downtown. At day's end the hot tub soak ensured another fine rest in the comfortable king size bed. For a week waking at home I was swept away to the Marshbreeze mornings; what a shock to open my eyes to snow. Thank you for the use of your grand home and community.

Nature Getaway

The property was in a lovely spot on the marsh and was open and comfortable. There was plenty of space for 3 couples and we really appreciated the willingness of the host to let us use bicycles, kayaks, and binoculars. We enjoyed exploring the nature in the area and opted to go to the beach within an easy drive since our weekend turned out to be so warm. A lovely stay!

Marsh tranquillity

Wonderful spatial property with exceptional views from the large screened porch. Enjoyed eating within the graciously stocked kitchen as well as at fine seafood restaurants nearby. Our ramblings were historical, scenic, and fulfilling. Home base was exceptional.

Secluded, Peaceful and Back to Nature!

We chose this property as a retreat with our sisters. What a wonderful place to send two weeks at. First we all are over 60 and the handicap ramp worked fabulous. The screened porch was wonderful for our two Yorkies that came, too! Here’s a summary of our stay: Kitchen is stocked with anything kind of pan or kitchen tool you could need which is perfect for the cooks like us. Beds were all very comfortable for sleeping in late. Our family has orthopedic issues so beds are important to us. Recliners in living room was very helpful, too. Don was very helpful and pleasant but did not invade our space. Birdwatcher dream! Our only complaint was that the ceiling fans needed some cleaning attention. Don’t forget your bug spray, too! Very wonderful vacation and we would return!

Incredibly Peaceful

This property exceeded my expectations from the moment I stepped inside. The house is large, spacious, and clean, especially considering it stands directly on the marsh. The view is indescribable, and so peaceful. Kitchen is well equipped for cooking. There’s plenty of towels, toilet paper, and extra pillows. Bed and pillows are comfy. Don has superb hosting skills. He quickly greeted us at arrival, and checked up throughout our stay. He is eager to assist with kayaking, bike routes, and just all around friendly. The property is soul soothing.

Pure Peace

The views are gorgeous. Even in the rain. The porch is the perfect place for a cup of coffee or a nap. The absolute sense of peace that we left with is priceless.

Marvelous Property overlooking the Marsh

Want a relaxing long weekend with a great location and great seafood, Marshbreeze is the place to go. Weather was perfect for sitting on the screen porch or in the hot tub and bird watching--we even saw a flamingo fly by. Our son is a history buff, so we visited multiple historical sites dating back to the 1700s. All the beds were very comfortable and Don and Susan are great hosts. We will plan to visit again!

Quiet and peaceful

This property is amazing for those who want to escape hustle and bustle and just enjoy a comfortable quiet setting. The huge screen porch is fabulous and they also have a large hot tub on the open deck. Would definitely stay again but depending on time of year bring your bug spray when walking outside. Saw egrets, herons, deer, and even an alligator. House was super comfortable and everything you need is already there waiting for you

Susan until 09/09 was director of Canopy Studio, an aerial arts teaching and performing center in Athens, GA. Don built Canopy Studio and did the rigging and technical work there. He now makes carbon fiber dance trapezes and sells them all over the world. Susan still teaches some workshops and master classes around the country, but mostly she teaches occasional workshop/retreats to aerialists that come from around the country to the aerial dance studio that Don built next to Marshbreeze (which opended April, '13).

They met in New York City (where Susan taught and performed and Don was a commercial photographer) before moving to the SF bay area for 9 years, then to Athens for 10 years. Now they are full time in Darien.

We decided that we love the marsh more than the beaches. There is so much wildlife just off our deck. It never gets dull. One minute it is tranquil with a golden glow sunset. Then, other times we are treated with a symphony of thunder and lightning. We like the proximity to Savannah as well as the civilized Jacksonville airport.
