The cabin was great! Lots of room, comfy beds, clean, everything needed was already there. The host was incredibly helpful and kind. We got very lucky and saw bears almost every day. It was a great stay in the mountains!

Overall great stay

Our family of 4 had a great stay. The location was good and the cabin was clean. Only negatives were the hike to the cabin can be tricky with lots luggage and there is no mountain view in the summer with the leaves on the trees. We seen bears almost daily, they come right up on the porch. A little scary but still pretty cool.

We loved this place and want to return! Communication from the property manager was incredibly quick and helpful. We saw momma bear and her 3 cubs several times during our short stay.

Our family had a lovely time at the Royal Chalet! Perfect for our family of 4 (kids aged 15 & 12) as we came into town for a dance competition. Jasmin was very responsive and attentive to our needs, providing advice before our arrival and quickly addressing a small plumbing issue we experienced over the busy holiday weekend. The house is a quick drive from downtown Gatlinburg, quiet with pretty tree views. We had bear spottings every day, including a mama and her 3 cubs playing in between the parking spot and the house. Highly recommend for a small family exploring the area.

If you’re a renter, I highly recommend reading this before booking.While the cabin is secluded and has potential, there were several serious concerns during our stay.At 2:00 PM, just two hours before our 4:00 PM check-in, the host called to say the previous guests were involved in an altercation, broke furniture, and smoked inside the cabin. She said she would be “ozoning” the property but never asked about allergies or sensitivities. The cleaning clearly suffered as a result: the floors were extremely sticky and dirty, trash was left in a bathroom, and there were visible cigarette burn marks on the kitchen curtains.The path from the parking area to the cabin is another major issue. It consists of loose pebbles and is very hazardous, especially for older guests, children, or anyone with mobility concerns. In wet or snowy conditions, this would pose a serious fall risk.We informed the host prior to booking that we’d be bringing a pet, which she approved. However, no pet fee was included in the booking confirmation. Instead of contacting us directly, the host contacted VRBO and told them we didn’t inform her.We received a message implying we were avoiding the fee. This was frustrating, as we had no issue paying, it simply wasn’t charged. When questioned, the host claimed she didn’t contact VRBO, which VRBO later confirmed was untrue.The issue wasn’t the pet fee. It was poor cleanliness, safety risks, and misleading communication that made this stay far below expectations.

Beautiful secluded cabin close to Ober and the Gatlinburg strip. Host was generous and checked on us via messenger in the middle of the stay (just over a week long vacation) to see if we needed anything. Overall we had a wonderful time, thank you.
