We enjoyed our stay but there were a few things that need to be repaired or made note of. We could not figure out how to turn on the fireplace in the living room, the jets in the hot tub did not work and we could not figure out how to turn the microwave on. One of the fans in the downstairs bedrooms would not come on as well. We still had a wonderful time but I think some lights need to be added to help make walking up and down the exterior stairs much easier to navigate. The upstairs bathroom had tons of flies in the floor.

Awesome Experience

I have 4 grown children that live in different states and we get together yearly. The 15 stayed at the Mountain Dream’ in Vilas. We had 6 children. There was lots of things for the kids to do at the house and the surrounding area.

A great family time!

Me and my 4 children and their families (coming from TN, VA, and NC) get together, the 15 of us once a year. We had an amazing time as a family getting caught up, enjoying the view, and parks. The house slept us all great!!!

Home was beautiful and just as described!

The property was perfect for our family weekend. There was plenty of space for everyone to relax. I would definitely recommend this property if you're ever in the area.

Great vacation!

Vacation was so fun! A definite change from our hot Florida weather! Cabin was spacious and fit our family fine. Close to Beech and Sugar mountain.

Plenty of room

We have a family of 16 and was enough room for us (4 under) however I would suggest they get a new house keeper. They they verified through email that there was a “crib” but it was a pack and play in the garage that wasn’t in what I thought was clean condition.

Family Vacation 2024

Overall it was a good stay. There were some issues with the house, some of the things that were advertised were not working such as fireplace being out of gas (came the day we left to refill), 1 shower did not work and pull out sofa was broken among other things. Three of our grandchildren had to go to doctors when we got home, they broke out in a rash from the bacteria in the hot tub. The owners were really nice when I reported our issues and we were told they would look into it and get back with us. We have not heard back.

Awesome time snow tubbing at nearby Hawksnest. Very nice place to getaway for a few days. Close to Boone. Property was great for a large group with lots of space for everyone.

Cute-A few Issues

House was beautiful. Great for large family gatherings. A couple issues: the oven is SO finicky. It took multiple trys and holding the door in to get it to work properly. Downstairs bathroom in the game room-the shower did not work at all. So one family did not have a shower. They could not get a maintence person out to fix it until after we left. The yard is non existent. We had multiple young kids and they had no where to play outside. One side of the yard is over a steep cliff-def something to be aware of with littles. Overall nice house but for our family it would not be a house we rent again.

GORGEOUS "CABIN", GREAT LOCATION

Beautiful home, comfortable, lots of room and great location. Thirty minute drive or less in every direction takes you to everything you could want to do: ski, ice skate, snow tubing, alpine roller coaster, hiking, shopping, Mast General Store, restaurants parks and playgrounds. The only steep hill to get there is the short driveway. Well stocked...there was even a big, beautifully decorated Christmas tree with lots of lights! Stayed with my children and grandchildren and each "family" had their own bedroom and bathroom. We spent a lot of time in the home just enjoying playing games and the hot tub and the cozy ambiance. There are lots of games and videos provided for both kids and adults. One unique quality...the house was solid and quiet...couldn't hear the noise and footsteps from the upper floors like every other cabin we have ever rented. We all agreed we want to stay here again!

App State Graduation Weekend 12/22

This was the perfect location for celebrating our daughters’ graduation from Appalachian. The house is beautifully decorated, clean and provided ample space for my extended family. We were impressed with how well the kitchen was stocked with cooking essentials as well as the seating areas in the kitchen and dining room that could accommodate large groups. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who is planning a visit to Boone.

Beautiful house!

This was a great place to stay! It was so beautiful. Had so much room. It had everything you could ask for. Board games,Xbox,TV’s in every room. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Beds were very comfortable. I could say so much more. You won’t be disappointed. It’s huge and so beautiful

Gorgeous house with great owners

House was beautiful. Loft was open so it was great for the kids. Plenty of room. Well stocked. 15 mins to Boone, 35 mins to Blowing Rock. 50 mins to Lynnville. Clean and well decorated.

Beautiful and spacious cabin

Our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mountainside Vilas. The cabin was very comfortable, spacious and well maintained; it had a very secluded feel despite being in close proximity to Boone for shopping / restaurants. Host communication was great - from reaching out to make sure we were able to find the cabin as we arrived a bit later than expected to quickly resolving and keeping us informed with updates when an unexpected issue with one of the air conditioner units occurred. The hot tub and pool table were nice additions to have. We’ll definitely look to stay here again when we next visit the area!

Mostly everything was perfect!

The house size was great! It offered everything we asked for. However it’s really a 4 bedroom-not a 5 bedroom house. The loft beds offer zero privacy! The hot tub- small but that’s ok- would have been great but was filthy when we checked in. Called the property manager and he did come and put chemicals in it- two days later! So we did enjoy the hot tub our last night’s stay. The house was somewhat clean upon arrival
. The cleaning crew was still there when we arrived so we didn’t get into the house until 4:25 or so. No problem there, really. But one of the guests found his TV remote control under the bed, along with a years worth of dust. Also many of the lights had burnt out bulbs. We mentioned this also to the property manager but we never received any bulbs for replacement. Then the trash
. The previous renters left all their trash! All of it! And even though it was in cans it wasn’t bagged, as requested! So we did the right thing with our own trash and bagged it all. But we had nowhere to place it as both cans were full! So we did what the previous people did and left the trash bags out front of the garage, next to the full bins!! Other than those complaints, the house was perfectly sized for our group, had all the kitchen appliances we needed, and really was beautiful! Perfect number of bathrooms as well! Really a nice place to stay!

Winter Wonderland

This was a semi-last minute family trip in search of snow with a scenic cabin. This place delivered, 8 inches of snow our first night. Sleds on property, kids were in heaven. Cabin was beautiful and the perfect size for our family of 12. Well supplied kitchen for cooking big meals ever night. Centrally located for tubing, skiing, ice skating, and snowboarding. Hot tube was a great bonus, with great views. Was a great experience, would definitely come again!

Annual Christmas tree weekend

The home was decorated beautiful for the Christmas holiday. It was very comfortable and we liked the main floor layout. Note- this is a 4 bedroom 4 1/2 bath home. It is advertised as a 5 bedroom 5 bath which is misleading. We had 5 couples and since there was only 4 bedrooms one of our couples has to sleep in the open loft.

Thanksgiving Stay

We had a large group of 13 stay for Thanksgiving, and the layout and size of the cabin were perfect. There are two bedrooms upstairs, 1 bedroom on the main floor and two downstairs. Everyone had plenty of room to spread out, and we could spend time together without feeling like we were right on top of each other. The location was convenient to downtown Boone while still giving you the feel of being in the mountains. Cabin was very clean and the kitchen was extremely well stocked. Would definitely stay here again.

A Mountain View is beautiful! My group and I had an amazing time and could not have designed a better home! The home was exceptionally clean and had everything you need to have a magical mountain weekend!
