Growsbeck Getaway

We loved our time here. The house itself is wonderful and has many thoughtful touches, like throw blankets just where you would want them, charging cables, and toiletries. Our dogs had the best time in the back yard and kept demanding to go outside every five minutes. We took a couple of long walks around the property, a lovely wooded area but the freeway is closer than I expected.

Awesome Place

Everything was great! The only bad thing is that it rain every day while we were there so the pool was dirty. Who what of thought that it would rain in July in Texas. Would definitely recommend and return to this place.

Lots I'd Room!

Overall would rate the home 4/5. Kudos for being well stocked, literally any kitchen supplies you could possibly need. 2nd fridge and ice machine were huge pluses. We appreciated that there was propane in stock, and not just empty containers like we've experienced at other rentals. We were a bit disappointed to see that the main gas grill was completely burnt through the pans, making it unusable unless you wanted to start a fire. This left a smoker that was also very very dirty, and a flat top grill who's grease trap has never been emptied to the point there is a pool of grease on the porch. Lots of kids toys, but a lot of things weren't usable as they were broken or worn out. When stripping Linens as requested at checkout, we discovered a blood stain on the master bedroom mattress that left me a bit uneasy. Life happens but maybe invest in a waterproof mattress cover to help with those accidents.Pool and hot tub were great, the kids loved them both. Fishing access was also convenient and beautiful. Overall this home is a GREAT family rental. Owner was quick to communicate and was very friendly. I think the only constructive feedback would just be regarding upkeep and housekeeping. Getting rid of broken/damaged items and maintaining other amenities a bit better such as the grills. It's set up to host larger groups/families, so is naturally ridden a bit harder. Just needs a bit more on the upkeep side and this place would be flawless.

Great family space

Property owner was very easy to communicate with and very accommodating. My nephew loved the kids kampout loft! And the giant Christmas tree was a perfect (surprising) touch!

Very pretty property!

Lots of amenities and fun stuff to do and see. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and supplies. Didn't realize Hwy 14 was so busy so the car noise was a little distracting but there were many deer and owls that it was still a great getaway from the city. Thank you for a fantastic ladies weekend!

Great place!

This place has so much to do we did not leave the property except to refill our drink cooler…even the outdoor cooler is provided by host! Pool is perfect temperature and shaded a lot of day. Great place and great stay.

Great Times at the Lodge

We chose the Lodge for two families wanting to get away for a weekend. Our group consisted of 4 adults, a 9 year old, three 5 year olds, and a 2 year old. The kids had a blast the entire time. They loved the play loft, pool, and playground. The best part of this property is all of the extra amenities the owners have made available. We never missed anything. The game cabinet is full of cards, dominoes, and board games for all ages. The kitchen has every utensil or piece of cookware you would ever need. The setting is relaxing and rustic. For future travelers reading this review, I would say that the cabin is probably better suited for either babies or older children (5 and up). Toddlers are just so wild and there are some areas that they need to be closely supervised in, I.e., the backyard slopes and is lined with rocks, and there is no railing on the back porch. Overall, we had an excellent trip. The pool and the hot tub were very clean. The beds and sheets were super comfy and the host, Sam, was responsive and kind. We will definitely be back! Thanks for the hospitality.

Fully equipped house

If you’re looking for a fully equipped house, this is the place to be. The house unquestionably has everything you could possibly need or want when away from home. The loft upstairs which is a play room is awesome. The home owner, Sam is great and very attentive to concerns. However, the yard while I was there was pretty over grown making the advertised zip line, the river access for fishing and the archery area unpleasant to get to. The hot tub was dirty and the pool was not up to par from day one until the day we left. Sam addressed it the issue in a very timely manner, but unfortunately never tried to make any other arrangements for us or try to further accommodate us for this loss. As I mentioned before, the house itself is great, but for the price being charged and the mentioned activities not being available is a little steep. Disappointed in the way this trip for my family turned out, but we made the best of it.

Our family of 11 stayed an entire week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Sam was great and tended to any questions that we had. We will be back and will also recommend to our friends. Outstanding!

Family Getaway Perfection

We were a party of 13 with kiddos aged 18, 9, 6, 3, 2, and 1. This cabin has something for kids of all ages. Pros - pool, trampoline, playset, fire seating area for s'mores, archery, fishing, outdoor music, fully stocked kitchen, bathroom amenities, upstairs play area (although there was a constant chorus of be careful on the stairs!), indoor game cabinet. Cons - grills required some cleaning prior to use and the outdoor areas needed some sweeping dusting and general care prior to use. Normal for cabins. Wonderful stay and great service from the owner with a potential internet concern.

Rainy Weekend - Made the best of it

The inside of the house is wonderful! Everything we wanted and more. They add a lot of sweet touches that make it really feel like home and comfortable. Spotless!! The kitchen has everything you need and all beds were SOOOO comfy!! Unfortunately, we only book properties that are waterfront with a pool for a reason and we were barely able to enjoy either. The river is not for swimming and It was difficult to fish because the areas around are not manicured well. Soak yourself in bug spray and it should be fine to fish. After a couple drinks we were able to brave the green/cloudy pool. The pool was damaged from previous guests and looking back we should have just re-scheduled. The pool was the main reason for booking a trip in the first place so it was a real bummer. (They had some ladies come and work on the pool on the first evening we were there but they were not able to help and somehow the pool got much worse after they left) We kept the pool filled but by the 2nd day it was completely green and most people wouldn't get in it. (not the owners fault but just wanted to keep it honest). The hot tub was also dirty :( it had a layer of dirt and sand at the bottom when we arrived but some of our friends still used it and enjoyed it. Our dogs had a blast!! The rain made the backyard very muddy, but they loved it all the same. If you bring dogs bring tick and flee repellent. We left our bottle there. I am so glad we had it on hand, we found a kitten on property that was covered in flees so we called a rescue place and found it a foster. This place is perfect for people who love the outdoors, plenty space to explore! They have many games to play, grills to cook, and speakers everywhere :)

Almost perfect

The cabin itself is wonderful, the property is perfect. We only had concerns with the pool and hot tub. The pool was green when we got there and so we lost a day of pool time. The hot tub was also very dirty. Fix those two things for the next person and they might return.

This place has it all

The lodge is a wonderful place to get away from it all. Sam and Callie were excellent hosts, providing all the essentials and being very responsive. The house is incredible and comfortable hosted our party of 10. The pool was most loved amenity, but the kids also loved the zipline, trampoline, and making smores at the fire pit. The grill was large enough to easily cook 4 racks of ribs at once, and the property is large and easy to explore, while still feeling like you're in the woods. The nearby lake was a treat and has a beautiful park. We caught and cooked catfish from the river, which was delicious. There is ample parking and loading in/out couldn't be easier. Highly recommend booking the Lodge!
