Villa Toucan är en privat havsutsikt och regnskogsvilla vid kanten av jungfruregnskogen där gästerna är nedsänkta i en intensiv upplevelse av vilda djur och energi, allt i tropiska boende.

Villa Toucan ligger inom Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge i Punta Uva p�� den karibiska kusten i Costa Rica. Huset ligger 1 km fr��n det turkosfärgade vattnet i Karibiska havet, där du kan njuta av vackra jungfruliga stränder, snorkling över korallrev, kajakpaddling, djurliv, ridning och helt enkelt avkopplande.

Gäster på Villa Toucan ��r säkra på att se dussintals toucaner varje dag förutom flera typer av apor, sloths, färgglada grodor, morfos fjärilar, kolibrier, otaliga fåglar och exotiska insekter.

Designad som ett semesterhus för familjer och smekmånader, kommer villan fullt utrustad och kan bekvämt sova upp till 4 personer. Det finns 2 sovrum, alla med egen privat balkong, utomhus badrum och privat trädg��rd, ett komplett kök, matplats, en vildmark terrass och vår nya h��ngmatta hut. Gäster hyr hela huset - oavsett om du ��r en eller fyra personer.

Villa Toucan har 2 privata sovrum som rymmer upp till 4 personer. Det stora sovrummet har en queen size-säng och det andra sovrummet har 2 enkelsängar - perfekt för barn - eller kan konvertera till en stor king size-säng. Varje sovrum har egen privat balkong med utsikt över regnskogen och stora exteriör utomhus badrum. Golv och katedraltak är gjorda av vackra lokala lövträd.

Båda sovrummen är fullt möblerade med sängkläder och kuddar, badlakan och handdukar, klädhängare, takfl��ktar, ett skrivbord, sängbord och lampor, täcken för svala nätter och handplockad litteratur om lokala ämnen. Det finns också ett dolt låst säkert där du kan skydda dina värdesaker. WIFI

Jungle Oasis

We began our honeymoon in this little slice of paradise! The open-air concept was very beautiful and unique as we could enjoy the views and watch the toucans in rain or shine. Gorgeous beaches are just minutes drive away. The El Refugio Grill at the bottom of the driveway was such a vibe and had delicious food. We would love to stay here again!

Extraordinary but know....

Villa Toucan was the perfect place for us! It was an unforgettable 40th anniversary. We didn't know such a place existed. But know that this rustic, simple jungle villa without AC and open air bathroom, shower, sitting room might not be for everyone...but it was for us. The fans were effective and bugs not too bad. The bed we used was great. Best of all was the setting. Howler monkeys and the nesting Montezuma birds were the stars of the show. Toucans could be seen in a same tree every morning to the left (facing away from the house) of the porch. The endangered green macaws were so loud and had fun pestering the Montezumas. Please know that the 'driveway' to the villa is long and tremendously steep in places. We didn't have a car and walked. We are in good shape but it was challrnging. In hindsight, make sure you get the names of cabs that are willing to make the trek. Some Tuktuks might attempt the driveway but probably not. Renting a car is also a good option. But a driveway is petty in light of the incredible setting. As one reviewer said....it's like living in National Geographic!

Wonderful villa jungle house

Villa Toucan was a great place to stay, immersed in a beautiful private jungle setting. The two identical masters with a partially open air kitchen/lounge in between provided private sleeping with fun outdoor bathrooms. The view out to the ocean has a tree full of Oropendula bird nests which were amazing to watch every morning, as were all the other birds, frogs and creatures. Each day we saw and heard howlers and other monkeys playing in the trees right next to the villa. This is an incredible unique retreat we will never forget. Bring your bug spray for when the sun sets and make sure to keep your food away from temptation. (4 x 4 recommended for the short but steep, well maintained road to the villa.)

This was our favourite place we stayed for our trip across Costa Rica. It is a magical experience to live in a home that is open to and sits in the jungle. The view of the "Big Tree" included 1 of 15 special nesting boxes put up as part of the Ara Project to help encourage repopulation of one of the most endangered species in the world, the Great Green Macaw. It felt so special that we got to watch several couples every morning! I can't possibly list all the cool frogs, insects, birds, and plants that we saw here! Also highly recommend a visit to the Jaguar Rescue Center The hosts are incredibly kind and the local management company very responsive and helpful! We especially loved our daily visits from the caretaker's cat, who ate a spider that scared my daughter! I was a single mom with my 2 kids and we felt so safe here. One tip that I learned the hard way: The bungee cord is for putting across the fridge door at night or else a Coati comes and steals your bananas!

A Few Things You Should Know

Although the Villa Toucan has some very nice features, future renters should be apprised of some things that we did not know before we stayed there. The first is that the outdoor bathroom means that the toilet is completely exposed to the outdoors, and the shower nearly so. The pictures show the outdoor bathroom, but we did not realize how completely exposed a person is when using it. The second is that the hot water is nearly non-existent. There is none in the kitchen or the bathroom sink. We never were able to get it in our bathroom, although our daughter was able to in hers. The knobs are very confusing, and we could never figure out how to get hot water. There is no oven, but there is a stovetop. The lighting in the bedrooms is so poor, we had to use our cellphone flashlights to see things, but the lights in the bathroom at night are truly highly illuminating, which makes using the bathroom at night very awkward--one feels so completely exposed. The website says there is a washer and dryer, but they are in a separate building on the property (which comprises several rental houses), and only the full-time housecleaner can use them to wash your clothes. We preferred to wash our own clothes, so that was uncomfortable for us. There was no salt and pepper. The positive things are that the surroundings are beautiful. The kitchen was adequately stocked with necessary equipment, the beds were comfortable.

Beautiful home, spectacular location and very friendly and helpful host

Location of property, view from terrace, design of house and floor plan, wildlife, laundry facilities and Manuel, Sara, cats and dogs Sink drain leaks in one bathroom, wooden floors and beds in bedrooms look beautiful but are super noisy just walking oneven turning around in the bed, all electrical outlets are worn out till the point that the plug does not stay in anymore, a toaster would be nice. We loved the house anyway ......this is just from PM to PM

This was the most beautiful place

This was the most beautiful place I have ever stayed in and it truly is like your own National Geographic! Absolutely fantastic. Communication with the host was immediate and easy. Highly recommend this - we will be back Manuel!

Magical place

My teenage son and I stayed here for four nights. We originally debated between staying on the water versus this place, but decided that the rain forest would be a more unique experience and more fitting to the area. It was a good choice and turned out to be amazing. We spent two hours every morning and late afternoon relaxing on the porch or in the hammocks watching the wildlife. We saw many, many types of birds and frogs, and monkeys swinging on trees in the distance (those were actually hard to catch). The sounds of the forest were spectacular and like nothing I had ever heard before. We regularly visited the beach nearby, soft sand with perfectly clear turquoise water and very few other visitors at this time of year. The food scene in the area was impressive and a surprise to us - we didn't have a single bad or even mediocre meal. If you are looking for an immersive experience, I highly recommend this place. Do take not of the heat and humidity, it takes some adjustment if you are not used to it (and a lot fans!)

A place worth returning to!

This was our second time staying at Villa Toucan. We love the place. It has more wildlife than anywhere else we've been in Costa Rica. Oropendolas, Macaws, Toucans, and Bat Falcons all nesting right in view of the outdoor kitchen. This place also has a large concentration of snakes, spiders, and beautiful Poison Dart Frogs. It's in your face wilderness! The house is tucked up into Manzanillo National Park with a nice walk to one of the prettiest beaches we've seen. We will return again!

Best place on the caribean side.

The amazing nature is right in your front yard. We enjoyed every morning the toucans, aras, different kind of monkeys and many more critters with our first morning coffee. There is no better place with a view and abundant wildlife and privacy. This was our second visit and we will be back.

I didn't want to leave!

Wow! This place is by far the most enchanting and tranquil places i have ever stayed. It was convenient to local stores, sodas, and activities. It was clean and I could stare at the view all day and night. The sounds of the rainforest are absolutely beautiful. The outdoor bathroom and shower are an experience all by itself. I have never wanted to spend so much time in one place. I have nothing but positive things to say about this place and look forward to returning one day. If you want an authentic Costa Rican experience....this is it! We saw several species of monkeys, birds and other creatures right from the deck. Dont miss out on this place! Book today!

Amazing spot

This place is impossible to explain. You have to be there to know how magical it is. The wildlife is so dense it could be scary for some people. The big tree has about a hundred Oropendola nests in it, and a Green Macaw nest. The tree next to it has a pair of Bat Falcons nesting in it. The first night we were there we heard big cats in the woods real close to the house. We also saw a couple of snake species, and more beautiful poison dart frogs than we could count. From the house there is a view of the ocean over the rain-forest. We have never stayed in a place more immersed in nature.

Peaceful Jungle Paradise Close to Town

This is our second time at Villa Toucan. We love that the house is situated high above the Caribbean with a view of the sea. The traditional open air Caribbean style house allows for plenty of ventilation and amazing views. Everything was very clean. There were plenty of cooking supplies to cook a nice meal, which we did one night. The communications were excellent, and we cannot wait to return one day soon. The bedrooms need more light. We opened the balcony doors, but then the cat climbed into our room. We love the cats, but they did beg for food constantly and one of them put their head into our bag of chips and ate a chip. Then later when we turned our attention away from the cat, it started eating our tiramisu on the dining table. Again, we love cats, but wondered if they belong to someone. They were very hungry.

Unbelievable view and location. I will definitely be back. I wish I could have stayed forever. The space is lovely and was spotless when we arrived. The driveway, while steep, is very well maintained. And, the grounds are magnificent! Thank you for sharing it with us Maya and Manuel.
