Lake Cliff Retreat on Fontana Lake

Location:
Lake Cliff Retreat is nestled at the back of a private, upscale gated community overlooking Fontana Lake. Getting there is part of the charm—a 15-20 minute scenic drive through winding mountain roads within the subdivision. The entrance, hidden off Highway 74, connects you easily to the area’s best attractions. You’re about 20 minutes from Bryson City for restaurants, shops, and the Deep Creek entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, while Cherokee and the main park entrance are just 15 minutes past Bryson. Want to explore the lake? Pontoon boat rentals are available just 15 minutes away at Almond Boat Dock. For more adventure, head 35 minutes to Nantahala River for whitewater rafting. The paved and well-maintained road, with a final mile of gravel, is accessible for most vehicles, though we don’t recommend motorcycles due to gravel and curves. Along the peaceful drive, you may spot hidden cabins or even wild turkeys foraging along the road.

Access Road:
The mountain road is paved with some hard-packed gravel sections, featuring gentle switchbacks and moderate inclines. It’s well maintained and navigable by most vehicles.

Exterior:
As you pull down the driveway, you’ll catch glimpses of Fontana Lake shimmering through the entry-level windows. The cabin’s cliffside design keeps the lower level tucked away. The front door is accessed via a small covered porch beside the gas grill, with a gravel path leading down to the lower level. The cabin’s back deck opens up to sweeping lake and mountain views, visible from nearly every room thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. Relax on the upper deck with its vaulted ceiling or step out onto the covered main deck to watch the lake transform—from morning mist to afternoon sparkle to colorful sunsets. At night, the skies fill with stars. A dining table for six invites al fresco meals, while two screened porches off the bedrooms offer cozy spots for morning coffee or a quiet glass of wine. The lower deck features a private hot tub, perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure, rain or shine.

Entry Level:
Inside, an open-concept kitchen and living room showcase the lake and mountains through a stunning floor-to-ceiling window wall. The living room offers comfy seating, a wood-burning stone fireplace, and a satellite TV with DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances, a large island with seating, and easy access to the gas grill outside. The master bedroom features a king bed, satellite TV, and private screened porch overlooking the lake, with an en suite bath. The second bedroom also offers a king bed and its own screened porch. This level also includes a full bath, laundry area, and pantry.

Lower Level:
The downstairs family room is a perfect hangout, with a gas log fireplace, satellite TV, air hockey, foosball, ping pong, and a wall of windows opening to the lower patio and hot tub. This level also has a bunk room with two sets of twin bunks, a third bedroom with a king bed and lake view, and a full bath.

Pet Policy:
This cabin is PET FRIENDLY. If you are bringing a pet along for your visit, there is an ADDITIONAL $95 pet fee (per pet) that must be added to your reservation after it is confirmed. We can add your pet fee to your reservation through a 'special request' on Airbnb once your reservation is confirmed, or you are welcome to pay the pet fee over the phone by calling our office anytime. There are maximum pet restrictions set by the individual cabin owners, so be sure to inquire what the restrictions may be for your cabin if you are planning to bring more than one pet with you.
