The Space:
Step into the charm of Gumnut Cottage Gippsland, a 26mÂČ Hamptons-style eco-house that blends sustainability with luxury. The snug king-sized bed, with 45cm around the edges, offers a cosy retreat (note: may not suit all guests).
Primarily off-grid, the cottage has back-up grid-power for peace of mind. Every detail is designed to show that sustainable living can be both elegant and chic.
Inside, lofty pitched ceilings with exposed beams create a breezy, open feel. The bedroom is dressed in luxe linens for restful sleep, while the ensuite features an extra-large shower with waterfall head, fluffy robes, goat milk soap, and complimentary slippers.
Complimentary extras include tea, coffee, cereal, pancake mix, biscuits, primas and bottled water (still and sparkling).
Tasting platters are a popular addition - available by request at additional cost. Perfect for birthdays, anniversaries or a romantic getaway. Message us after booking for details!
Outdoors, enjoy golden light on the 30mÂČ deck with a romantic dinner at your dedicated outdoor bar, or relax with evening games and picnics beneath festoon lights. Guest Access:
Gumnut Cottage Gippsland is set on 2.5 picturesque acres, offering a magical âOff-Grid Tiny Aussie Homesteadâ experience. Wander through lush surrounds with a growing food forest of annuals, perennials, and over fifty fruit trees, framed by stunning mountain, forest and valley views. As part of daily life on a working acreage, we occasionally mow with a ride-on and tend to the plants and animals, always mindful of timing so you can relax and enjoy your stay.
Meet our friendly residentsâadorable Babydoll sheep, playful pygmy goats, and cherished heritage hensâwho bring a gentle rhythm of life to the property. Our residence is tucked away at the rear, and although there are a few neighbouring homes, youâll have your own carport and simple self check-in via lockbox.
The indoor fireplace (MayâSeptember) and outdoor fire pit (MayâJuly, weather permitting) add a warm glow to your evenings. Each can be arranged for a non-refundable $25 fee, covering seasoned hardwood, kindling, and setup. For safety, only firewood supplied by us may be usedâself-supplied firewood, outdoor cooking, or BBQs are not permitted.
At Gumnut Cottage, youâre not just a guestâyouâre stepping into a sanctuary designed for rest, rejuvenation, and connection with nature.
The Neighborhood:
Stunning panoramic mountain and valley views on edge of state forest, twelve minutes into the local township of Heyfield (with supermarket, pub, cafes, parks etc).
Getting Around:
Ample parking.
Own car required to get around as this is a rural country location.

Please note that we can only welcome guests over the age of 21 years.
The indoor fireplace is available for use between May and September. If youâd like to enjoy it during your stay, please let us know at the time of booking. A non-refundable $25 fee applies, which includes fire preparation, approx 4hrs of indoor burning time (kindling, firewood, and fire starters). Guests need to pls familiarise themselves with safe indoor fireplace use and accept full liability for any damage /injury incurred in doing so. The fireplace will be very hot whilst in use and nothing can be placed on top of it (or it will burn / melt).
Our outdoor fire pit is available for use between June and August subject to wind / weather on the day.
For safety reasons, only seasoned hardwood as supplied by us may be used. Use of the fireplace or any self-supplied firewood without prior arrangement is not permitted, as a past incident prompted this policy. Thank you for your understanding and helping us keep the space safe and cosy.
Bringing your own fire pit / outdoor cooking equipment / BBQ / lighting fire is strictly prohibited due to safety / fire risk. Guests who breach these terms will regretfully need to be asked to leave immediately and their booking will be cancelled without refund. We appreciate your understanding in helping us keep our guests, neighbours and surrounding area safe!
