Vackert restaurerade, extremt privat, ca. 1850 lantgård - John Burroughs "Old Home". Oöverträffad utsikt, hundratals tunnland att utforska och många lokala familjeaktiviteter för alla fyra årstiderna. East Branch av Delawarefloden rinner genom staden; den Pepacton Reservoir ligger 15 minuter bort. Ski Plattekill är drygt berget; Belleayre, Hunter och Windham är inom 45 minuter; Pakatakan Farmers Market; Roxbury Arts Group; och Cooperstown (National Baseball Hall of Fame - 1 timme bort). Golf på Shepard Hills ett stenkast bort, eller på Hanah femton minuter bort. Roscoe (flugfiske) är en timme bort. Skidåkning, golf, vandring, fiske, jakt och platser av intresse är alla i närheten. John Burroughs Memorial State Historic Site (hans gravplats) är bara upp vägen, som gränsar till gården, som är Woodchuck Lodge. Det finns trådlöst satellit höghastighetsinternet. Andra våningen tvättstuga har Bosch frontmatade (han) tvättmaskin och torktumlare. Lakan och handdukar.

Weekend in Roxbury

Our stay at John Burroughs homestead was wonderful. The house is clean, comfortable, well appointed and beautifully decorated. The setting is lovely, especially with peak fall foliage. We had a fantastic weekend in Roxbury and would recommend a stay here.

Wonderful historic gem!

Our family of 10 (parents, 4 adult kids + partners) all enjoyed a week of winter fun at the John Burroughs homestead. While the skiing wasn’t awesome, the kids were able to spend two days on the icy slopes for some family fun. The location is convenient to several ski resorts, located privately with lovely views of the valley and mountains. The house was very comfortable and accommodated us all. Kids had to work a few days, so WI-FI was important and worked fine. Cell service is limited, which was great with me! Kitchen was well-stocked with pots and pans, plates and silverware. Owners and caretakers were incredibly fast to respond to any needs.

Perfect for 2 families

We ski Belleayre every winter & this year teamed up with our cousins. The house was THE perfect retreat! Amenities galore, spacious, and beautifully restored. The charm of old meets today’s luxury & needs. We will definitely be back! Thank you for sharing your home:)

Sons wedding

The property lower floor has plenty of room for family and friends to gather. Plenty of seating. The kitchen and dining area are great. And the front porch is wonderful for reading or just enjoying quiet time. There is good hiking and historical site. Would recommend.

Home was perfect for a group of friends. It was minutes from Plattekill. We had dinner at The Fierce Grizzly one night, I would definitely check it out.

Beautiful historical property in great location

We loved our stay ! The house has a nice set up and we were very comfortable . We cooked all of our meals in the well equipped kitchen , the dining room table sat 10 of us and the bedrooms were perfect for our group of 10. We were not able to ski due to the warm weather but we went on nice walks and on the way home spent time in Woodstock NY which is an hour away . Patricia the host was very nice and easy to communicate with .

Fabulous house!

This rental feels like someone’s actual home. It has literally everything you want or need. We stayed there for an extended weekend for a wedding that was close by. Our party consisted of 5 adults and 3 kids. The house is the perfect mix of a historic home and modern renovation. The attention to detail is amazing (for example, all monogrammed towels and sheets from Pottery Barn). We would definitely stay in this home again if we have another event in the Roxbury area. Thanks so much for providing the perfect environment for our stay!

Great mountain getaway for families

We had a lovely 2-night stay over the holidays with three families with kids. The house is fully renovated and well furnished and stocked with everything you could possibly need (pots, pans, toiletries, towels, games). The property was also really beautiful with great views. We didn’t get great weather for skiing but there were a few mountains very close by. We ended up spending most of the time at the house with a fire in the fireplace, playing board games and making meals in the lovely kitchen, which was perfect for us. Lastly, the owner was friendly and very responsive throughout the booking experience and our stay.

Beautiful house in a very secluded mountain

We just came back from JB's boyhood home. Great place. The house is very very comfortable. Everything works, beds are comfy, kitchen is very well equipped, 2 fireplaces, 2 big TVs with Direct TV, wifi works. Loved the location, as we were looking for a calm place away from the city noise. Went skiing to Plattekill which is just 15' away and is a great family friendly mountain. Nice supermarket in Margaretville 20' away. Will be back for sure. Highly recommendable!!

What terrific place for a family reunion

The owner has not just restore the property but has created a restoration beyond compare perfect for my four siblings and their spouses for my daughters wedding. What a wonderful family reunion we had! A perfect solution to any wedding or event in the Catskills

Groomsmen House for Local Wedding

This is a beautiful house, well taken care of with lovely amenities like monogrammed towels! The house is huge with a great kitchen and dining room table and two living rooms. We rented this for the groomsmen and their significant others for our wedding and it was perfect to keep them comfortable and for wedding day pictures. I would definitely come back and stay here. Very close to the Inn at West Settlement.

Perfect spot for a family gathering!!

Everything was absolutely wonderful during our stay at the Burroughs Homestead for our son's wedding at The Roxbury Barn. What a fantastic house the Burroughs Homestead is!!! Beautifully and tastefully furnished, so well equipped and lovingly maintained. It was so welcoming and the perfect place for our family, three generations in all, to assemble as we celebrated our son's wedding. I even saw a bobcat in the backyard and a porcupine on the road the day we arrived. The owner was also very helpful in providing wonderful suggestions regarding venues and vendors in the area as we planned the various wedding festivities. We had the rehearsal dinner and welcome party Friday evening in the newly restored barn in Kirkside Park. It was great! I look forward to returning to Roxbury sometime soon and hope we can stay at the Burroughs Homestead once again. After everyone had packed up and headed home, I indulged myself and stayed on one more day to pack up at leisure and enjoy the quietude of the setting. I sat on the porch and took in the breathtaking view, and then I read all the wonderful entries in the guest log. What a treat it was to read everyone's shared positive experience staying at the house. Truly a nice ending to our stay.

Everything you could imagine in your Catskills getaway, and even more

This place was just spectacular. The renovations are high end; the place is nice and big, yet still very cozy. What I was struck by most was just how stocked and accommodating the house was, from the kitchen tools, to the bathroom soaps. Best place we've stayed at so far in the Catskills, and we've been doing ski weekend every year for about 6 years. Rental was easy and low key. Highly recommend.
