The Space:
Creekside at Kuaotunu by Tiny Away is located on the Coromandel Peninsula, nestled just 5 minutes from Matarangi, 5 minutes to the popular Luke’s Kitchen in Kuaotunu, and 23 minutes to Whitianga.
A comfortable 139 square foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers).
NOTICE (FOR THE WINTER MONTHS ONLY): A heat pump will provide you with warmth in the cooler months & air conditioning during the warmer ones. Step out onto the deck to enjoy al fresco dining from the BBQ, stare into the flames of the brazier, and then complete the evening with a soak in the spa bath under the stars or a dip in the creek.
Guest Access:
Detailed instructions of the location will be forwarded to you during the reservation process. Solar lights will guide you to your secluded tiny home. A lockbox ensures easy access upon your arrival. Your hosts are located on the property should you need them, but far enough away to ensure your privacy is key.
If you are interested, we also have activities listed below that can be pre-arranged with the land host 24 hours in advance.

The Neighborhood:
Creekside at Kuaotunu by Tiny Away is nestled amongst fruit & nut trees and a stone’s throw from a spring-fed creek. You are encouraged to enjoy a wander over our 9-acre property & say hi to the residents: 2 stunning speckled park heifers, 13 curious chooks, a shiny black lab named Marley, and a Persian Birman cat named Possum. Listen out for nature's rhythms provided by tuis, bellbirds, and pheasants.
Your hosts, Darren and Corina, have 10 years of experience in the accommodation industry, managing parks on the Coromandel, and now wish to share their beautiful property with guests of their own. They know the area well and are only too happy to share their local knowledge. Additionally, a detailed map of local attractions is included within the compendium.
Meet the locals and explore nearby gems like Star Gazers, Kuao Kawhe, The Lost Spring, and Luke Kitchen. Pipers Café, Holistic Health, Waiau Falls, and Cathedral Cove offer unique experiences across food, wellness, and nature. The Dunes Matarangi and local beaches like Opito, Otama, Kuaotunu, Matarangi, and Whangapoua are perfect for relaxing or staying active. Boat ramps are available for those bringing a kayak or boat to enjoy fishing or paddling along the coast.

- No public transport is available to our doorstep, but bus services are available to and from Whitianga.
Other Things to Note:
- Pets are not allowed
- Restricted area within the storage compound
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- Bring weather-proof shoes during wetter months
- No smoking inside the tiny home, except in designated areas
- We have free-range chickens, 2 Speckle Park cows, and a Labrador dog
- Given the rural setting, children are welcome under CLOSE ADULT SUPERVISION
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
Important note:
- Keep in mind that a gas BBQ grill is available throughout the summer (fire restriction season)
- The outdoor fire pit is not available during a total fire ban
- Dropping cigarette butts on dry grass can start a bushfire. Please put out your cigarettes properly
- Should you be visiting during the winter months, your vehicle will need to be parked in the metal area, just a short walk from the tiny home
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
