Great home and location

52 Matai St was everything we needed for our short stay in Te Anau. Warm and inviting right in the heart of town. A short and easy walk to the town centre and the lake.Will definitely be back when we can!!!

Perfect spot

Loved this cosy cottage with comfy beds, a lovely view and a generously stocked pantry (which a lot of places overlook). Great communication with our host - we'd definitely day again.

Fantastic stay

Leigh’s property was fantastic. The house was warm and had everything we needed - and more! The bed was so comfy my partner and I wanted to take it home! Location was great too. Honestly, couldn’t rave about this place enough.

Great location!

The home is basic but clean and was great for our group of 5 people. Just one block to the main shopping/restaurant area and 2-3 blocks to the lake. Would recommend if you are spending time in Milford Sound and aren't high maintenance.

Family Milford sound

Great place to stay for our trip to Milford Sound. Walking distance to the lake front and shops. The view from the bedroom in the morning was a treat.

Te Anau stay

Good place to stay. We stayed a couple of nights. Easily walkable into town. Appreciated the washing machine. Only suggestion; it would have been nice to have some outside chairs to sit on.

Lovely place to stay

Was lovely being able to walk into and around town. Perfect spot to stay to access Milford track and Kepler track.

Improvement Required!

I am surprised that this property has collected so many 10/10s! It's a bit tatty around the edges, and needs some serious repair work and modernisation. Lots of potential improvements required - a shortage of cooking equipment, a distinct damp smell and not even a table in the unkept back garden. You got the impression that a permanent resident left the property ten minutes before we arrived, and would probably return immediately after we left. A great location for the Milford Sound trip - but no other reason for returning..

Great spot!

This was a great location- walking distance to all the stores and restaurants and about a 2 hr drive to Milford sound. It was peaceful and clean and my whole family enjoyed our stay here.

Walking distance to everything

Great location, it was within walking distance to everything: Grocery store and plenty of restaurants to choose from. Also, within walking distance to RealNZ’s departure point for the Glowworm Cave, Milford & Doubtful Sound adventures. Also, if you have a rent car the drive to Milford Sound is worth the trip and if you’re adventuresome then hike to the waterfalls at the Humboldt Falls.Aside from the great location, there were 3 bedrooms so plenty of room and the kitchen was nicely appointed with everything that you’ll need for your adventures.

Wonderful older style house, close to town

Wonderful house, close to town. Generous and thoughtful host. Family of four, we loved our stay here, great base for exploring Fiordland and very comfortable.

Very comfortable with fabulous mountain views

This property offered everything needed for a comfortable stay. Great location, walking distance from the town centre and to access Milford Sound and spectacular walks. We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay.

3 BR house close to City Center

Cozy older home. Heavy scent upon entering...air freshener plug in. 3 BR (twin, queen, king), kitchen/DR and Living space open concept. Separate toilet and small shower. Had some difficulty regulating inside temp. Would be nice to have mirror in everyroom near outlet. Would be better if had bedside lamps and more outlets available for plugging in electronics in everyroom (or extension cords). Generous condiments in fridge and cupboards if you're cooking . Nice backyard for relaxing. Close to City Center.

Perfect stay

The house had a perfect size for us (4 adults + toddler) and was super comfortable. We instantly felt like home. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. The fireplace makes it super cozy when its cold. The location is absolutely perfect - everything is in walking distances
