  • A great place for a family holiday

"The cottage is exactly as described, with lots of room for a family of 4 (and could sleep 6 comfortably). Great swimming and canoeing. The lake is warm and pristine. Karen and Rob are wonderful hosts."

  • My piece of paradise

"My husband and I have been coming here for almost 12 years. We absolutely love the location and the quietness. The view is so beautiful.....I love sitting on the patio and looking over the ocean at any time of day or night. Our unit is large, clean and well stocked with everything we need except the groceries. Some of our highlights over the years have been visiting Coombs market...they have goats on the roof, strolling along Qualicum Beach, just a 1/2 hours drive away...the sandy beach just goes on forever. There is a charming pizza place in Ladysmith that has a great special Tues nights and the farmer's market at the Crow and Gate Pub on Sun is a must see. The Pub also is amazing...world class British Pub on a country road miles from town. People from Victoria make the drive just to sit in the beautiful outdoor garden...and there are lots of gardens in Victoria to choose from. I could go on and on.....the swimming pool is my favorite place here....it is cantilevered over the cliff and the blue water of the pool combined with the blue of the sky and ocean is quite marvelous. Every morning I walk past the rose garden on my way to a quiet swim to start my day.....heavenly. Be sure to bring some binoculars...have not seen any whales yet, but others have...we just enjoy watching the boats go by while drinking our morning coffee on the patio. Angela looked after us for many years, now we have Patricia and Scott who have been just as great. They are available by text or email and live just down the road. Each unit is individually owned here which gives this place its charm. Make sure you have the owner;s contact information but really, it does not matter since there is always a helpful person to get a newcomer orientated. One more thing. I mentioned that we have been long time renters....and if we were younger or fully retired would buy a unit here in a heartbeat. Over the years, we have seen the property maintained and improved on...and all improvements are better than the original fixtures. There are at least 2 owners who actually live on site. That speaks volumes to the quality of this place....owners live here too. They keep the place running well, the place is quiet and family orientated and it has quality and charm. Hope you love it as much as we do."

  • Lovely, spacious condo

"We loved this condo. Everything was spotless, the furniture and beds were so comfortable! It is very bright and spacious. The kitchen had everything you need, including spices. There was a nice view of the water, and having three balconies was great. It's kind of remote, but we were able to take a couple of easy drives north to do some sightseeing. Be sure to eat at the Crow and Gate pub down the road. Food was great, and the gardens were lovely. The only kind of quirky thing we encountered was that you have to wash and fold the sheets and towels before you leave. We had never encountered that in a VRBO. Maybe it's a Canadian thing. Luckily we had booked a late ferry out of Victoria so we had time to take care of it before leaving. Thanks, Peggy, for sharing your beautiful condo."

  • Great home base for exploring the Island!

"This property is a great location! We stayed for three weeks, making this our 'home base' for jaunts to Victoria, Nanaimo, Parksville, Rathtrevor, and others. The house is quaint and totally served our needs. A huge television for our Netflix binging in the evenings. A gorgeous property in an idyllic country setting, while still a five-minute drive into town for Starbucks. The owners were friendly and knowledgable about the area. We would definitely recommend this rental!"
