  • The interior of the home was welcoming and worked very well for our needs.

"The attic space was enjoyed immensely by two late teens. It was their private retreat. The main floor was spacious and the kitchen well equipped. The laundry space was also appreciated. The outside of the house badly needs to be repainted. The surrounding front porch also needs work. The view from the deck is wonderful but some rungs of the deck are missing and making it unsafe for young children. Some chairs or a suitable table to go with the pub style chairs would also make the deck space more useable and enjoyable. We really enjoyed our time in this home."

  • Soul-nurturing home and location

"While the remoteness and quietness may not be for all, for aging campers who remember and crave what it's like to be immersed in a life of stars, moonrises, sunrises, and sparkling water views, almost (not quite) off grid and with lots of hiking nearby...well, Top of the World takes it up a notch and gives you all the comforts of home as well. My only warning for my age cohorts is the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. Good lighting (the owners have all the details covered), but not the easiest stairs...you have to fully wake up for them. And to the discerning city-dwelling cook...while you'll be happy with the kitchen, you may not be happy with the grocery stores (or prices) of Northern Cape Breton. Do all the grocery shopping you can before you hit the Cabot Trail. Bring a big cooler...it's a good 3 + hrs to Capstick after the last big stores. As it must be for a place this special!"

  • Little piece of Heaven

"Our family of 5 loved our stay at this wonderful cottage. There was plenty of room for everyone and, like so many other reviews have stated, the view is absolutely incredible. We enjoyed having campfires on our own private beach, eating on the deck while taking in the view, and of course, the sound of the waves as the tide came in. So peaceful and relaxing. We found the location to be very handy to everywhere we wanted to go - Halifax, Peggy's Cove, Lunenberg, fabulous sandy beaches, kayaking - to name a few. Our family made many wonderful memories that week, and the cottage was the perfect place to do that!!"

  • Used For Our Wedding Venue

"My fiancé (now husband) and I rented this home for the week for our wedding. It was the perfect place for us! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, it was the perfect size and Paul, his wife and his adorable dog Ted were fantastic hosts! We had 90 guests attend the wedding, had a caterer hired, enough tables and chairs for the guests as well as the caterer and any other things we had set up, and there was ample room! Also the guests had no problem with parking! The fire pit was a big hit for the guests that wanted to stay late, and the lower level deck works great as a dance floor!! Also you couldn't get a better view for pictures! They even allows our dog Francis to stay the week. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to get married outside!"
