  • Great Place!

"My wife and I stayed in Boris' condo and at Playa Turquesa for over two months and enjoyed the experience so much that we've already booked a three month stay with Boris next year. We enjoyed the openness of the living room, dining and kitchen area. The accommodations always felt comfortable, open and spacious. We spent many hours on the balcony that overlooks the pool area and has terrific ocean views. The balcony area is just another open-air “room” with comfortable furniture and some really awesome ocean breezes. It was a perfect place for morning coffee, late afternoon cocktails or a game of dominos. The condo complex is in a great location. Walk the beach or streets to find just about anything you need. Local buses (guaguas) are inexpensive and another fun way to get around. The condo property itself is well maintained, has two pools and lots of caribbean greenery. There's a beach bar, covered beach pavilion, beach lounge chairs and tasty food for order at Playa Turquesa's sugary white beach. The beach area is a real bonus and is for the exclusive use of Playa residents and visitors. Plan on spending lots of time there! The staff was also great and made our stay even more enjoyable. They did a wonderful job of keeping the pool, grounds and beach in tip top shape and didn't seem to mind our attempts with practicing our Spanish. They are all very warm and engaging people and certainly added to our visit. Could go on and on but in short, Boris' condo and Playa Turquesa are really special places."

  • Relaxing

"I first want to say that Phillip and Junior were very accommodating. My husband and I choose to take a carrribbean vacation annually to celebrate our anniversary. This was our first journey to The Dominican and we were not disappointed. The weather was perfect and the atmosphere was even better. We celebrated our anniversary at Kukua on the beach and had an amazing dinner. I totally recommend it to anyone visiting Bavaro Beach. We also went to the Hard Rock Casino to watch the Dallas/ Green Bay game (unfortunately they lost), but the evening was enjoyable. The house is beautiful and there was plenty of room for our friends. We cooked ourselves, but used the maid service daily for a minimal fee. Nothing negative to say except "watch out for the mopeds"."

  • Nice Condo, Decent Complex

"Overall, we had a nice experience at Playa Turquesa. The condo is well-maintained and cleaned. One of our surprise favorite features was the balcony hammock. Of note, the credit for AC doesn't get you far. We came in just shy of having to pay an overage fee -- and we didn't use the AC excessively. That said, the condo complex could use some updating. The chairs and cushions were worn and could use a cleaning. But, the real standout of the trip was Liz, the property manager. She was kind, helpful and patient."

  • Good Value, Not Perfect

"The location is pretty good. Up the coast to the Northwest it seems to be more low-end; I saw the Bavaro Beach from a boat, which is Southeast of this property, and it looks a bit more upscale. The condos are secure. There is a market literally right across the street. All the people I dealt with were friendly and nice. There were a few things about the condo that were issues for us. The first night we turned on all the AC units and too many lights, and the power went out. This happened 3 times in a week. Wasn't a big deal because the breaker is right by the door and accessible. We just had to make sure not to use too much electricity at the same time (e.g., all AC units plus the washer or dryer, for example). The main bedroom A/C was not very cool. The rooms were well-sized, and I found the beds comfortable, and the condo generally clean upon arrival. The weirdest thing about the property is that the beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean comes with a sliding door that CANNOT be left unlocked. The design of the door itself does not have an unlocked setting. So, with 3 little kids running around, opening and closing that door, people got locked out, on the balcony, a few times. It creates the possibility that everyone in the condo could be locked out. Then you would be at the mercy of shouting at random passers-by for assistance. Our solution was to leave the window next to the door open just enough for emergency access when one of my kids would lock us out. You can reach the door hardware from the window without climbing in. There was no water cooler in the unit, but a large, cooler-sized & filled water container was included upon arrival. Other units we saw at other properties at least had a hand pump or an office-style cooler. I had to literally dump water into other containers from the large container. So you'd have to have someone strong enough to do that. The company renting this unit is Volato. The people are very nice, but you have to go and find them, or email them, or call them. But I expect this is typical. They are responsive. They did return my deposit, and there was no problem with the calculation of electricity use. I did like the location of the unit. I would consider staying here again."
