  • Amazing views, spectacular condo!

"This is an amazing property. The first thing to mention is the stunning ocean views from the family room and each of the three bedrooms. The location will never disappoint. The condo was well equipped and the owners Kerwin and Lisa were very responsive when setting up the reservations and answered all questions. There is a local manager Willy who will help with arranging any tours you want to enjoy, such as fishing etc. We caught fish one day (4 Spanish Mackerel) and brought it to a local restaurant (La Luna) for their preparation. They made ceviche with it and also grilled the rest. It was the best meal we had there. Just amazing and La Luna has a great location with views. There was plenty of fish left which we prepared in the condo for tacos the next evening. We had a party of eight and the condo was plenty big for us all. The only problem we had was water pressure at times, but whenever we reported it, it was fixed after a few minutes. I would easily stay here again as it is one of the most beautiful locations for a hotel I ever stayed at. Oh and concerning wildlife, we saw a couple monkeys and sloths near the hotel and during our 5 minute walk downhill to the local beach. It was a great little beach, but the water wasn't too clear for snorkeling, although I saw some fish near the rocks, but as mentioned clarity is lacking there. Take a trip 30 mins south to Dominical and head inland to the Nauyaca waterfalls. You can hike in or take horseback. It is worth it. Horseback ride is only $70 US per person and includes a breakfast and lunch midway in both directions. Horses were very nice and well kept. We didn't see too much wildlife on that trip, but if you head into Manuel Antonio State Park, you will see plenty there. We saw 3 monkey types, a coati, iquanas, peccary, vine snake and pesky raccoons that will snatch your food from your bags right next to you. This time of year (with locals on vacation too) the park is very busy and be prepared to be around some crowds. This place will not disappoint! Last comment, the restaurant at the hotel is good, but is a bit pricey. Better options are out and about nearby concerning pricing."

  • Wonderful!

"We just returned from a wonderful week at the Pink Orchid. The entire week was as good as we could ever wish....the house was well equipped and so comfortable, the location awesome, and of course the dock and water were AWESOME!!!! We felt welcomed and well informed by the owners and property manager and thoroughly enjoyed the people recommended for fishing and snorkel trips. Reagan and Marty were awesome! We rented cars to do some adventuring, get to restaurants and to play golf, as well as to get to the grocery stores which were were convenient and easy. We definitely hope to return to this area again and would love to stay at the Pink Orchid!"

  • A Wonderful Corner of the World

"How fortunate we were to have found Pamakanya and Jaibalito/Guatemala for our family vacation! We have not been together as a family for a week long vacation since our adult children were in their late teens/college age and so this was a unique opportunity to catch up with our three daughters, their spouses and our two grandchildren. We have had the opportunity to travel and so a week long vacation somewhere none of us had been before was one of our goals and the ability to be in a country where you can really interact with the folks who live there was a real plus. I am fond of native Americans and the Mayan people who we were fortunate to meet were special and lovely. From the experience of talking with Maria and her daughter while they prepared for us one of three meals at the house (no easy task as we had two vegans and one vegetarian amongst the rest of us meat eaters) to interacting with restaurant owners and workers, boat drivers, , fellow passengers on the water taxis, or merchants in some of the small towns within walking distance from Pamakanya, we were enthralled. Lake Atitlan is indeed a special place and having those fantastic views of the lake and volcanoes, morning, noon, and night was something we will all long remember. The house was perfect for our extended family as we spread out comfortably in all three casitas and congregated at all hours in the main house. The owners have kept this house as I would have and do everything possible to make your stay perfect. The information provided by them was excellent and so we followed their recommendations many times including our first night stay briefly in Guatemala City before hiring the van to transport the 10 of us to the lake, where we caught our private boat to the house. Swimming in the lake and kayaking were two of the many special things we did during the week, walking to the neighboring villages and hiking a volcano two more, and we only regretted not being able to stay for a month instead of just a week! Work and the real world did eventually reimpose itself on all of our lives but the memories will long be with us of a fantastic week at Pamakanya, Jaibalito, Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. Thank you Katie and Becky..!!"

  • Great escape

"I am divorced mother of 19 & 20 year old children. We, along with 2 of their friends stayed in this lovely home. It is a great place to escape if you are looking for a peaceful retreat, yet there are plenty of adventure options if desired. The home is clean and as pictured. The kitchen is well equipped and functional and the open layout of the home keeps everyone "together". The property manager, cleaning staff and concierge were extraordinarily helpful. Take advantage of the fresh baked goods delivered to the door!"
