  • Best place you can find

"Georgeous quiet place with great great great view on both the ocean and Snaefellness (and northern lights)! The cottage is amazingly comfortable (especially the bed and the downstairs sofa) and very well equipped (oven, microwave, washing machine and dryer, tv with lots of DVD, board games, toys and books). I planned to stay four days but it was so great and cosy that I spent 17 days there! Gestur was very kind and flexible and always answers in short delay. The cottage was clean and in perfect condition. There is also a small cafe 5 min walk. I could not recommand it highly enough!"

  • Lovely Stay!

"We stayed for a week in this apartment and had the most wonderful time! The location is absolutely superb - close to Reykjavik's downtown core and all that it has to offer! We realized location is everything when you are visiting Iceland in the winter - the closer you are, the less cold exposure, the better ;). But in all seriousness the apartment is very spacious, modern, bright, clean, and comfortable. Loved sitting on the chaise, sipping on wine, reading my book, and watching the happenings on the streets below. At times you could hear the rowdy night comers at 4 in the morning, but it is nothing that you wouldn't expect being in the city. We met the neighbor below and they are quite nice, and not once did they complain about my music level :). The owner was great at communicating and provided a very detailed outline about the apartment and of all the best places to visit. We certainly enjoyed the local bakery and having fresh bread every morning! Overall, we would definitely stay again - thank you for sharing your beautiful apartment!"

  • Fantastic property and location for our larger group! I can't imagine a nicer space!

"We LOVED our apartment at 32 Tungata!! Though I mentioned we had a larger group (6 people) I believe you can rent part of the house as well as the lower level so you should definitely consider this space even if you are a smaller party! The directions from the airport were fantastic and easy to follow -- take the flybus to the Salvation Army/Hotel Reykjavik Centrum and walk three short blocks up the street past all of the embassies!! We didn't rent a car as the grocery story was 1/2 a mile in the opposite direction and downtown was easily walkable -- everything was within a mile! The city is full of charming shops and great food! We got a few recommendations from the owner Jon about a special restaurant for our friend's birthday dinner -- pricey but well worth it -- KOL, on the main street leading to the church you'll want to head up for fantastic views of the city!! The house was fantastic -- a very large kitchen for coffee and breakfast and making dinner on the day we got storm warnings! 4 HUGE bedrooms with fantastic beds -- so comfortable and relaxing after a day of exploring (we did Extreme Iceland's Lava Cave Tour and Northern Lights combination -- not for the faint of heart but well worth it!!) . One bedroom/bathroom downstairs (not ensuite) with a shower and plenty of room and three bedrooms upstairs with an AMAZING bathroom with shower and deep soaking tub. A large dining room for all of your meals and adventure planning. This place was just fantastic -- the location could not have been better, the layout and privacy for 2 couples a single (not related) and a 9 year old was fantastic. The decor is not fancy, just very cool and livable!! Great for families who want a space for kids to spread out and go to bed without being on top of each other -- great for friends after a week of travel who need space and the ability for everyone to be together!! Will definitely come back to try out Iceland in the summer and will hope to stay at 32 Tungata!!"

  • Location, Ease and Comfort

"Location: The apartment is two blocks up from the waterfront (great route for a walk/run) and two blocks down from a main restaurant/shopping street. Because it is so close some of the tourist transport options will pick you up there even though it is not one of the official hotel stops. Please verify as it is NOT guaranteed. Ease: I had absolutely no difficulty with any of the logistics of booking the property, accessing the property or with the closing of the reservation. Margret was very responsive, helpful and efficient. The property was easy to find on maps. Because we got out of the airport so quickly we arrived at the property 30 minutes early. We were able to contact Margret in route and we were met at the apartment 30 minutes early and were let in. I am so impressed at the flexibility and responsiveness! And it was nice to have someone personally orient us to the apartment even though there was nothing really complicated. Comfort: Everything is as described in the VRBO posting. We had four people, two in one room, one in the other room and one on the sofa bed; all of us slept well. The kitchen is fully equipped and with grocery stores a short walk away we were able to save a little money on food. There are several places to gather - the front room with the amazing view, the dining table or the TV room and all were accommodated the four of us with ease. I have stayed at several VRBO properties in different countries and I would rank this among the best. Sometimes I worry about not staying in a hotel when I am in a foreign country but Iceland itself, especially Reykjavik, is very gentle in that regard. And the apartment and quality of care provided by Margret gave me the same comfort of having hotel staff available."
