  • Fantastic Location! Very comfortable!

"We decided to stay here because of the location and we were certainly not disappointed. There were 4 coffee shops within 100 years. The location is within walking distance to everything on the Royal Mile. Nice open space inside. the beds were extremely comfortable! Pros: Location, great for the family, and the beds were wonderful! Cons: Shower pressure. No elevator so had to take the stairs (this was not a con for us even with a stroller but needs to be mentioned for anyone that may not be able to walk two flights of stairs). The fireplace was not functioning. Thank you for a great stay! We would certainly come back!"

  • In Edinburgh

"This was a wonderful place to stay and Gordon went to so much trouble to make sure that we had everything. It was so handy to everything and could walk everywhere. I would highly recommend staying at Gordon's place as it is a home away from home"

  • A second terrific stay at a great place!

"After having stayed at the flat 3 years ago on a girls trip, when my hubby and I decided to visit Edinburgh as part of celebrating out 25th, we booked this flat. Patricia and her husband met us within a few minutes of arriving. As before the flat was spotless. I mean spotless - down to the baseboards. As before, they generously provided some provisions in the frig. Breakfast was an easy in apartment experience each morning. Wifi is great. Washing machine appreciated a week into travel. Not air conditioned but not an issue in June in Edinburgh! As others have referenced, the stairs would be difficult for someone with mobility or knee concerns. Location too, is unbeatable 5 minutes from Waverly. And only a bit more from the Waverly Bridge where you can pick up the Hop on- Hop Off bus for ready sightseeing. There is a Tesco close, but I'd suggest the Saines location in Waverly which looked to have all the key provisions you'd need and a little closer without a hill :-) We tried two restaurants very close to the flat that were both terrific: Guildford Arms and Cafe Royal. Note reservations are needed for Cafe Royal - though we were able to walk in around 6 as long as we finished by 7:30! Not over the top expensive. Recommend this place for a comfortable, convenient and clean stay!"

  • Wonderful Two Week Stay @ Pilrig House!

"My husband and I stayed in the Garden Apartment at the Pilrig House for two weeks at the end of July and the beginning of August. The apartment was so spacious, modern and spotlessly clean, supplied with everything one could possibly need or want. Debbie and Philip are wonderful hosts - very knowledgeable about the area/attractions & transportation. It is about a 1/2 hour walk to city center but this was not an issue for us. Bus routes are very close by as well as local grocery stores. It was nice to come back to the quiet area of Leith and the apartment to get a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were so happy with our accommodation and would definitely recommend the Pilrig House to family and friends!"
