  • Return to Puerto Vallarta

"It had been 36 years since our first visit to PV. Things have change just a little! Staying at the Icon was wonderful. It's in a great location outside of town. The views from the balcony of the apartment were mesmerizing. In the morning the water was usually calm and probably my favorite time to enjoy the view, but then there were the sunsets which were spectacular. We were a party of four and very much enjoyed the space of such a large vacation rental. The apartment amenities were perfect. Mark was easy to deal with and I loved that there was someone at the airport to pick us up on arrival. I'd recommend everything about this rental!!!"

  • Great location, great value!

"What a wonderful property for so many different reasons! Among the highlights..... 1) Layout - the condo is on the second floor of a 6 floor building. It is spacious, nicely decorated, and has the amenities that make a good vacation great (e.g., washer / dryer, full kitchen, water-cooler size jug of drinking water, etc.). There are lots of beach towels provided, so one less bulky thing to pack or buy. The TV is small and does have cable, although it's mostly Mexican cable channels. The wireless Internet works well, but note that the range is limited and works best in the living room / dining room / kitchen areas. There are also two wired phones provided for free calls - one for calls within Mexico, and a Vonage phone for calls to the US. Both were of great use to us when making extended calls to airlines to change travel arrangements. 2) Location - the condo building is accessible via a wide alley off a somewhat busy street. It is completely safe, and being off the main street means far less traffic noise. There is a security gate to access the stairwell, so random people cannot get into the building easily. Los Muertos beach is less than a 5-minute walk away. There are 3 small convenience stores on 3 successive street corners walking North on the main street - any of them will have what you are looking for (although I recommend the Oxxo on the 3rd corner). There are numerous restaurants along the beach and elsewhere in the Romantic Zone. The Rio Cuale shopping area is a 5 minute taxi ride or 15 minute walk at a normal pace. 3) Other Benefits - on the roof of the building, there is a small but nice pool along with several lounge chairs. There are good views of the bay, and it's a great place to get some sun without the sand. There is also a bar (unstocked) with bar stools, and a bathroom. Take a look around in the condo, especially in the cabinets, etc., before buying anything...the pantry in the kitchen has lots of sunscreen and some basic medial items, as well as some games (Uno, Chess, Backgammon, etc.). In the bathrooms, you will find shower gel and shampoo, hand soap, etc. Lastly, but certainly not least, the building manager Guillermo (Memo for short) is available 24x7 for any issues or questions. He is one of the nicest people around, and takes the time to make sure everything is right. His wife is also the housekeeper and does a fabulous job. In short, you will have a hard time finding a better value for your money!"

  • Everything just perfect...

"This condo on the 8th floor of Playa Royale was perfect in every way -- beautiful views, marvelous balcony and clean, cozy, studio with ample space and king bed. Also, we loved having a kitchen for breakfasts, snacks, drinks and leftovers from the many restaurants within walking distance. Shopping center with grocery also within walking distance and the Tuesday farmer's market is right across the street. The balcony was perfect and private for anytime of day for reading, napping, and catching up on projects. Walking the beach, or taking the bike path in the center of the tree-lined boulevard was great for exploring and going out shopping or eating. The Beach Club at the condo was a great place for happy hour and sunsets & has a small restaurant. Everyone on staff at the Playa Royale was super friendly and went out of their way to help. Everything was clean, well maintained, and the grounds & pool areas are lovely. Puerto Vallarta with the malecón, old old town, restaurants, shops, and entertainment is only a bus ride away! And, finally, Norma our host, was most helpful from the initial planning & questions to the details on the area and the condo as we put our trip together. Thanks, C & K"

  • So beautiful I cried when we walked in the front door

"We just returned from our stay at Casa de Las Palapas. We stayed with a group of five couples and the house was a first class retreat for all of us. One of the couples on in our group invited us to join them on their third trip to Las Palapas. When we arrived and walked into the main palapa, tears seriously came to my eyes, I couldn't believe the terraced tropical paradise would be ours for the week. I''ve stayed in a variety of vacation homes in Mexico, the US, and Europe, and the staff at Las Palapas provided the highest level of service I've experienced. The house manager Rici worked with our group leader in advance of the trip to plan our catering, activities, and excursions. Rici and our group leader planned an evening salsa lesson in the main palapa and entertainment by a great mariachi band on the last night. Our entire group was consistently impressed by Maricela's cooking. We liked the location of the house. It has beautiful views from every room and has a very tranquil atmosphere. It is close enough to town to run down to town via taxi or car quickly. We would recommend Casa de Las Palapas to anyone looking for a Puerto Vallarta retreat with personalized service."
