  • Beautiful home in a gorgeous setting.

"We stayed in the Straw Bale house for 3 nights while visiting Yosemite NP. We were two adult couples, so it was nice to have two bedrooms each with its own bathroom, all on one level. The house is lovely inside with stained concrete floors and comfy furniture. Kitchen is ample and well appointed. The pantry was stocked with spices, sugar, etc. and the refrig had some basic condiments, which we like to see in rental homes. There's a cell tower right behind the house so service was robust. The beds were good. Beautiful bathrooms. All very clean. The house is located about a 65 minute drive from the Yosemite NP entrance. To get there you drive along the Merced River through an amazingly beautiful valley. The travel time to/from the park was perhaps the only drawback, as we had to make the trip one time each day; i.e. it was not realistic to go back to the house and return to the park for an evening ranger talk or star watch. We found some nice restaurants in Mariposa which is about a 10 minute drive from the house. All in all we highly recommend this house as a place to stay when visiting Yosemite NP."

  • Great Getaway!

"We stayed here for New Years for a few days. The location was beautiful, very isolated and private which was awesome because we stayed up late a few nights. It was in the middle of the forest, you really feel have no service out there which made it perfect for a family trip. The cabin had wifi if needed but i didn't share that with my family, we can all use a little break from social media. The cabin was nice and cozy, it was a little dirty but nothing major. The furniture can use a little update. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of blankets. Heater works perfectly! It is an old cabin so using the toilette and showers was a bit difficult as we only had very little water. Overall it was a great place, we enjoyed it very much. The owner responds very quickly and made the booking very simple and easy. Will definitely stay here soon."

  • Quiet, comfortable, perfect condition

"Two couples used this rental as home base for a Yosemite vacation. It is wonderful and exactly as described - just what we wanted. All the "excellent" reviews are right on target! Waze directed us to the house with no problems. It was easy to find, even in the dark. But use the homeowner's instructions for navigating to Yosemite. And if you are looking for an alternative to the Mariposa giant Sequoia grove in Yosemite (which is closed for upgrading), try Nelder Grove, which is in the Sierra National Forest, convenient to this house, and not at all crowded."
