  • Wonderful

"This house was great! Plenty of room for our entire party with a sweet back yard to relax in. We enjoyed playing darts, scrabble, cards at the large dining room table, and hot tub time. It was great having a cooler and beach chairs to use for our trips to the beach. The location was perfect for all of the events we attended for a family wedding. Only drawback was the shower height. Kind of difficult for tall people."

  • Stunning Malibu Property

"I travel to Malibu for vacation in August typically every year. I also try to stay at new unique houses each time I go. Villa Calcare was absolutely beautiful. The property has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. The pool and hot tub are amazing and the views are great from every room. The bedrooms are very spacious with plenty of room and each bathroom with the exception of one has a great shower with built-in sauna. This is the ideal vacation house to rent in Malibu if you have 5 or more guests or a large family. The in-house movie theater with reclining leather seats was another great touch. Access to broad beach is also less than 5 minutes away and is within walking distance. Lastly, if you like to cook, the kitchen has everything you will need and is decked out with a Viking gas range and Viking refrigerator. There is also an outdoor grill at the pool. If you are planning on dining out, there are plenty of restaurants within a 10-15 minute radius. It's difficult to criticize anything about this property, but in the interest of providing the best review I can, I will list some things that others may wish to know. The downside of being literally right off PCH is that you *will* hear traffic in the morning. It can be heard from every room and there is nothing you can do about that if you are a light sleeper. Also, if you like to sleep in on vacation, don't anticipate sleeping past 8 am. There are no blackout curtains and the drapes are very light and easily allow the sun to brighten every room in the morning. These were really the only things that were an issue for me during my stay."

  • What a great house!!

"This was our family's first trip to Avalon, and we loved it. A critical part of our wonderful experience was staying at this house. SO highly recommended! The house is incredibly charming (built in 1924, with many original features) home looking over the harbor and the iconic Avalon casino. It is very spacious and comfortable. We were 9 adults, and had plenty of room to be together while also having privacy in the bedrooms. The kitchen and dining room and living room flow together very easily. The views are AMAZING. Location: The house could not have a better location, right above the harbor yet very private, and only 1/2 mile from the Avalon Casino. In between is the very special town that is Avalon, with shops and restaurants, ice cream and bakeries, and a feeling of stepping back in time to a gentler place. Everything is easy walking distance from the house. The House: The view from three sides of the house is spectacular, day and night. It was wonderful to wake up and watch the harbor come alive sitting in the living room with a cup of coffee and to enjoy the twinkling lights in Avalon in the evening. The kitchen is fully stocked, clean, and everything works well. The five bedrooms are all VERY comfortable. The three bathrooms had no issues with our large group, and the owner thoughtfully included soaps and extra toilet paper. The stairs: This is really not an issue. I was worried before booking, given past reviews and that my husband and I are nearing 60. Do not worry about these stairs, they are not challenging at all. Finally, the cost per night may seem daunting (it was to me), but it is actually a bargain. I did a lot of research into the options for hotels and B&Bs for our family trip. This house was economical in comparison, sight unseen. Now that we have been there, I can only say this: Lucky you if you have the opportunity to rent this house, as the experience is priceless."

  • Great Place, Great Value!

"As soon as I walked into this rental I knew I had found a home away from home. Spacious, elegant, with generous outdoor spaces and close to the action in both Echo Park and Silver Lake. The owners are both gracious and responsive, which is important to me. I will definitely be returning in the future and will gladly recommend it to friends. Jack Lieberum...Sayulita, Mexico."
