  • 3 generations of fun and relaxation

"We took the kids and grandkids for a 3 day President's weekend holiday and had a grand time. The weather was typical for the coast in winter but the house was so comfortable we did not notice. The fishing was also great only a 10 minute walk from the front porch. With two gas fire places and a floor heater in each room and bathroom we never felt at a loss for heat. This three bedroom, two bath unit had plenty of room for the 7 of us to relax and visit. The game room added additional space and entertainment. The huge outdoor common area will be fantastic in the summer with acres of mowed grass for kids to roam on, fly kites or whatever. The wild life viewing was terrific with a small herd of deer coming around each night and sea lions off the coast. You can see Caspar Beach south to Mendocino coast from more than one place in the house. Bring your binoculars if you come. We hope to return this summer."

  • Awesome house...awesome weekend!

"We loved our stay at the Mendo Redwood Retreat. And that's just what it felt like...a retreat in this awesome cabin nestled in the woods...private and quiet, and yet, very close to town. The house was clean and updated, very well-appointed and the hot tub off the back porch was perfect. what if it was the rainiest weekend we've had, with high winds, rain and hail. AND so what if the power was completely wiped out for more than half of our stay. We had a very LOW TECH, fun family time and celebration of our daughter's 30th BDay. Forced to eat what was in the fridge, use candlelight to play games (internet was down and phones lost their charges!) and told stories. That never happens with our hi-tech kids (well, not really kids...28 and 30). Not to mention that the wonderful owner provided us a partial refund because of Mother Nature's interference. We will absolutely come and stay again...maybe next time in the summer!!"

  • Cozy cottage in a great location

"The Caspar Cottage was in the perfect location to hike along the coast, visit the lighthouse or walk around Mendocino/Ft Bragg. The bed was very comfortable and the cottage nicely appointed throughout. Even the washer/dryer was a bonus if you needed. The area is quiet and set back from the road so minimal noise can be heard. The hot tub was perfect at night after a long day of hiking. The posting says the gas fireplace is good for ambiance but it's the only source of heat for the entire cottage and when the temperature drops outside it can take a while for the cottage to warm up. There is an additional space heater provided (which we needed) and was helpful. The internet was not reliable and when it did work, the internet was too slow to download anything. There is satellite TV with a decent number of channels. Also, there are some neighbors nearby so not as much privacy as we had hoped for. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the cottage had everything we needed. The location really can't be beat!"
