  • Oceanfront in March

"I would actually give 4 1/2 stars. Together with another couple, we visited this home for 6 days in March. Our stay included warm sunny days and a scary hurricane-like storm. This home is an amazing place to be, in either situation. The views are stunning. The waves pounded nonstop. Lighthouse beacon swirled through our bedroom at night. It was a very special place to be. Downside: we did have to battle ants in the kitchen and went out to buy some ant spray, as there was none in the house. The other kitchen issue was the complete disarray of items in the drawers and some of the cupboards, which resulted in lots of hunting around for needed utensils or containers. I would think the maids or cleaning crew could make some sense of the kitchen chaos. We have stayed in other places where everything had a labeled place, and were much more organized in the kitchen. We enjoyed the pool table during the storm, and thankfully the power didn't go out. Fireplace kept us warm and cozy. I was able to fly my kite on the bluff on the sunny days, a nice breeze was just right. Our friends said the downstairs bed was good for them. We found the upstairs bed to be quite hard; it could have used a foam topper! This home is in a lovely neighborhood and close to both Mendocino Village and Fort Bragg. Owner was very easy to work with and we extended our stay for an extra day without any trouble."

  • Amazing Wedding venue!

"We were lucky enough to have our wedding at Spring Ranch this May. It was the ideal location to have all of our wedding festivities. We had the whole property for the weekend, including the Victorian house, the Honeymoon suite and the event barn. It was all wonderful. The house held our family and friends perfectly - we had 8 adults and 2 kids sleeping there. It had everything they needed for a comfortable stay, and more. The Honeymoon suite was also incredibly lovely. Very comfortable and cozy for the couple. It was also an ideal spot for the bride to get ready. Again, had everything that we need and lots of little touches that contributed greatly to our weekend. The event barn was also perfect. It was really easy to work with the owners, our event planner and the rental company to make sure that everything was set and ready to go for the big days (we held our rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception all on the property). It was beautiful, comfortable and fun. Being able to bring lots of our own decorations and alcohol was also a huge plus, and saved us a good deal of money. We would highly recommend this location for anyone looking for a wedding venue. We found it was a great combination of natural beauty, comfort, and convenience. The owners are great to work with. And many of guests told us ours was one of the best weddings they had ever been to!"

  • Location, location, location!

"We THOUGHT we were coming to this area to enjoy Mendocino & Fort Bragg...to tell the truth we were happier spending our afternoons looking out at the seabirds, whales & sea lions (we started naming them as the days went on!) from the secluded...spacious porch. Seriously, be prepared to bring your own food & soak in the best view in Mendocino! So, we were surprised to see so many whales (over 10) that were so close to shore. Just past the rocks there must be a sheltered shelf for them to navigate what seemed like only 50 feet from shore. We've never been so close, even saw a baby nearly completely out of the water playing up a storm. This home is a little older, but well loved and comfy. The owners were thoughtful enough to provide toiletries, nice soft towels for the bathrooms & hot tub, and the bed was SO comfortable! The hot tub was in a perfect location, not too windy & the premier location to whale watch....thus its name! 😉"

  • Historic and artsy retreat!

"We enjoyed our stay in this historic cottage by the sea! The house is filled with artistic expression both inside and out . There lots of wonderful windows that make it feel light and airy and offer pleasant views of the sea and yard . The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed for a wonderful time. Thank you Gary for sharing this special place.we would definitely recommend this to a friend. It is a old gem of a house . Great for those who appreciate a home with old house charm. Wonderful path down to the water too...and walking distance to everything."
