  • The Bluff

"Stayed here with a large group of friends for five nights. The house is 180 degrees surrounded by ocean, where you can see waves of water crashing against the bluff from the living room and kitchen, at all times during the day. There is a beach roughly 15-20 min walk from the house, which is also visible from the backyard. Essentially, you feel like you are along the coast of Scotland or Ireland out here, remote and beautiful. We did a lot of stuff on the bluff, including puffs on the bluff, getting rough on the bluff, getting buff on the bluff, cops came and brought cuffs to the bluff, finally we said enough with the bluff. I'm not bluffing you. Debby (the owner) was very responsive, a pleasure to work with, and coordinated with me on different notes, leading up to the trip dates. Everyone had an amazing time in this baller house."

  • Oceanfront in March

"I would actually give 4 1/2 stars. Together with another couple, we visited this home for 6 days in March. Our stay included warm sunny days and a scary hurricane-like storm. This home is an amazing place to be, in either situation. The views are stunning. The waves pounded nonstop. Lighthouse beacon swirled through our bedroom at night. It was a very special place to be. Downside: we did have to battle ants in the kitchen and went out to buy some ant spray, as there was none in the house. The other kitchen issue was the complete disarray of items in the drawers and some of the cupboards, which resulted in lots of hunting around for needed utensils or containers. I would think the maids or cleaning crew could make some sense of the kitchen chaos. We have stayed in other places where everything had a labeled place, and were much more organized in the kitchen. We enjoyed the pool table during the storm, and thankfully the power didn't go out. Fireplace kept us warm and cozy. I was able to fly my kite on the bluff on the sunny days, a nice breeze was just right. Our friends said the downstairs bed was good for them. We found the upstairs bed to be quite hard; it could have used a foam topper! This home is in a lovely neighborhood and close to both Mendocino Village and Fort Bragg. Owner was very easy to work with and we extended our stay for an extra day without any trouble."

  • Magical

"I never realized how special Mendocino was before our stay, and this wonderful cottage was right where we wanted to be. We had so much planned for our trip, but ended up spending most of our time enjoying ourselves at the house. We had a lovely time enjoying each other, as a family, wether it be watching movies, or the stars. We were all very happy, and we did manage to get out for a couple of excursions to boot! Walking distance to the mouth of the river, to the cliffs for sunsets and to get groceries and snacks. Location absolutely perfect. We will return."
