  • Owners are best ever and we rented the entire five cottages GREAT RESORT

"The owners Brian and Melissa met us at the resort and we rented all five cottages for 17 people. Kids. Grandparents. All the Tucker Family from Denton Texas. Fully furnished and wood stoves and we fly fished with the owner and his son guide at www.westernanglersguide.com If you want a place with history think about this our guest books and the history has JFK and Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, James Dean, Jimmy Dorsey. I stayed in the JFK and Marilyn Bedroom in cottage 3. My mother and father stayed in the Sinatra Rat Pack cottages 4 and 5. We hiked, fished, we ran hills. The local market is called ammiratti market. And we saw historic Dunsmuir. We went to the snow ten minutes away at Mt. Shasta. All the cottages have directv. Wifi. The views are immense. Think about this. All the hiking. Fishing we caught a 22 inch trout. We are all catch and release. If you look at the website www.castlestoneinn.net the owner site you can see what my kids just loved and that is the greatest outdoors adventure ever. We saw that John Wayne, Jimmy Dorsey, Ginger Rogers, Mamie VanDoren, Meryl Streep, Ashton Kutcher, Jimmy Stewart, Rober DeNiro, Sylvester Stallone, Robert Duvall all stayed here and signed the books. The owers are in the film business with the studios and that is why all the stars hide out. But the owner is a native of the area part time so he knows everyone and gave us tours. We picked up our keys at the local property managers office. Professional and credit cards accepted. We returned the keys to the property manager. This is a professionally run but family style business. The small town where the cottages are located is called Castella. Only 100 people. The river is right out front. We plan to come back in the summer. We love it here. Love the Tuckers and Stevens Family"

"Immaculately clean, well appointed and comfortable. Beautiful view of Black Butte. Feels very private. Just a 10 minute drive to Lake Siskiyou and the Mount Shasta Resort. Very highly recommended!!"

  • Great Last Minute Trip

"Planned a last minute ski trip (the night before we planned to leave) and worried we would not find a rental quick enough for our party of 6. The owner/mgmt company responded quickly and we were in with no issues! The place was heated, cozy, and very clean (most important thing to me!) when we arrived. Wonderful communication! One car garage for the SUV and gear, if any. As you come into the house from the garage there is a basement area to put your shoes and any additional gear. The main house is upstairs with 3 bedroom/2 full baths. There is internet (necessity for our family). The living room/dining room is a nice area for playing games and socializing - no TV(s) upstairs in the main living areas. TV is in the basement room. Nice sized kitchen. We didn't find dishwasher detergent which was probably a simple oversight, but dish soap and paper towels were all there. There is a coffee pot/filters - Bring caffeinated coffee! I seem to forget these things when we rent cabins! Everything we needed was there. My 9 & 11 year old were excited for the bunk beds upstairs but then opted for the downstairs bedroom connected to a living room area with large couch & TV. The DVD player does not take Blu Ray disks but they do have a little collection of DVD's to choose from. The wall heater warmed the bedroom/living area quickly. There is a 1/2 bath in the basement along with a full-sized washer/dryer. It's probably not surprising but you need to keep showers VERY short, at least during cold weather...definitely cannot shower 4-6 people without staggering. The cabin uses well water - my husband could not get over how good it tasted and we have fabulous water at home. Takes about 20-25 mins to get to the ski resort. Town is a few miles away from the cabin, easy drive. There is a supermarket (Rays) which is open until 11pm (small selection of GF items) and a few other small markets. Berryvale Café was nice...a small grocery with organic & GF choices, and carries wonderful local bottled water. The café offers soups, coffees, salads, sandwiches, etc. There is a Burger King, KFC, Taco Bell, Subway if you want fast food. We managed to eat at Black Bear Diner which was a good choice for a party of 6. This is not a "luxury" home, it's an older place with older "stuff", and was exactly as advertised. Everything worked, everything was clean & we had tons of space. We were very happy and would certainly stay again."
