  • Heaven on Earth!

"Shadowpoint is as special as the most special places on Earth, and I feel blessed to have spent time swimming, snorkeling, cooking and dreaming making memories that will last a lifetime nestled there with people I love. Don't miss it!!!"

  • Lovely home

"First the positive: We rented this home for about 6 weeks this winter. We had friends and family visit us and there was room for everyone in this very beautiful home. The beds are comfortable, the furnishings are high quality. The window treatments are designer quality and really nice. Great pool! The pool and home were very clean. We saw manatees and tarpon from the dock, and it is very easy access to the bay. The negatives I will list will not prevent us from renting the home in the future. First and foremost, I really enjoy lying in bed and watching TV, but there are no TV's in any of the bedrooms. If there had been a TV just in the master, we would have rented again, but after putting in my request, they chose not to install a TV, which is of course their prerogative. And there are plenty of other TV's throughout the house, and they are very nice. Some other things that bothered us... The master closet was filled with their personal belongings, so not really any room for our belongings. And being there 6 weeks, I needed a closet badly. Even though I felt like I was invading their privacy, I pushed their things aside to make room for our clothing, shoes, etc. I didn't know what else to do. The closet clearly stated "owner's closet". We have our own VRBO unit in Colorado, and make sure the closets in the bedrooms are empty for our guests. The kitchen was poorly stocked and I needed to go buy a casserole dish and frying pan. The dinnerware is very poor quality plastic that did not hold up to microwaving or the dishwasher. Glassware was very nice. The sheets in the master bedroom were very worn and pilled so I rummaged through another closet also marked owners closet to find a decent set. The comforter on the master bedroom wasn't too clean so the first day there I took it to a laundromat and washed it. The security is very tight at this home, which I suppose is a good thing, but there are flashing lights everywhere (which we covered up with a paper bag at night cuz they kept us up!). Each time the door opens an alarm beeps and it was slightly annoying. Very beefed up security! Also, I sure do enjoy hooks in the bathroom for pj's and bathrobes, towels n such, but only one towel bar in each bathroom, no hooks. We put a towel down in the master cuz the tub was a little slippery. All this being said, we enjoyed ourselves immensely and would love to return! The positives far outweigh the negatives. • Great outside space, hot indoor space.

"My family vacationed here for a week prior to dropping my son, husband and friend at Boy Scout Sea Base High Adventure. We were with 4 teenage boys (and two grandparents) looking for something with amenities that would keep these active scouts busy. We were drawn to the kayaks and waterfront location with close proximity to good snorkeling. The outside of the house totally delivers. It is exactly as the pictures show. The tiki equipped with hammock and hammock chairs was terrific but we spent most of the time on the beach, enjoying the sea breeze and fishing from the bulkhead. There is no pier or dock but if you do not have a boat, there is plenty of room to fish. You will need a FL license if you are over 16. Check with your local bait shop for regulations and bait recommendations (we loved Brenda across the street at Capt Pete's who is a wealth of knowledge!) A few things to note about the property: I would not consider this a 3 bedroom. Yes it does have the beds that it states however the lower level is one large open room that has 2 beds in what is largely a family room with large sectional and television. It is more of a studio. We had planned on my parents staying here but it did not give them any privacy from the teenagers and there is no inside staircase that leads to the upstairs. One must go outside and use the front stairs or the spiral staircase out back. Not a problem when the weather was nice but there were several severe thunderstorms throughout the week which I understand is a regular occurance in the summer. Also, the air condition is not adjustable. It is set to 81 degrees (which was hot and not very comfortable for my mom who suffers from asthma) during the day and appears to come on full blast late in the evening, leaving everyone searching for blankets in the middle of the night and early morning. Lastly, do not expect anyone to sleep in the terraced area during the warm weather months. The owners ask that you keep the sliding doors closed during the day and open them after 8 pm. This room was unbearably hot and two of the boys were forced to sleep on loveseats and sofas in the cooler living room. There is no ice maker which is a bummer when frozen drinks are on the bar menu. It is vacation after all! If you plan on snorkeling in the sound, make sure you stop and pick up a dive flag at any local grocery store, Walgreens or dive shop."

  • Amazing

"We stayed at the house for a little over a month. We were down in the area for work and found this little gem. There were three adults sharing the house so there was more then enough room. Out of that whole time I think we cooked at the house a total of two nights. One guy did you use the outside grill more often though. This place was set up for turn key usage, from Tupperware to a Keurig, it was all there! There are four bathrooms in the house, each master bedroom upstairs having their own as well as the room downstairs. The final bathroom is in the hallway that is available to guests and the final two rooms that have a day bed in each. These two rooms and the hallway bathroom were never used once while we were there. Laundry room was up in the main house and in very good order. The neighborhood was quiet with most people that we saw waving hello. Personally, I enjoyed the back patio where I spent almost every night enjoying a beer and watching the boats rock back and forth along the canal. Not only would I recommend staying here again, but I plan on staying here again as I know my group will be back sometime in the Spring of 2017!"
