  • Relaxation is your only option

"We spent the week of New Years 2017at Blue Palms and could not have been more pleased. The owners have decorated the home tastefully and with an incredible attention to detail. The house is very well-appointed and clean, and the amenities set this property apart. We are a family that likes to stay active and this property promotes exploration by supplying cruiser bikes and kayaks. We spent the mornings jogging through the neighborhood or biking along the easily-accessible path 1/2 mile away. We kayaked the calm water frequently and snorkeled off the dock daily. Although the water temp. was at its seasonal nadir, the weather had been so warm that we were able to snorkel without wetsuits. We saw multitudes of fish, including schools of parrot fish, cowfish, angels, etc. We also saw lobster, horseshoe crabs, stingrays, and even a pair of nurse sharks under the neighbor's dock (secret: the neighbor's dock is like a mini-reef). And if you want to just kick back and relax, the pool and surrounding deck and hammock are the perfect places for taking in the sun with a cocktail if that's your thing. I find some of the comments about the bug volume or sea grass interesting. Yes there are bugs, and many bite, especially at night. And the sea grass will wash up on shore, creating a bit of a mess and smell. But this is the Keys. You are in the tropics. Simply use insect repellant and wade through the sea grass (and keep the TV off) and forget the outside world. Lay on the patio and watch the shooting stars at night. Peer through crystal clear water to spot the fascinating sea creatures. You will be rewarded by the peace and tranquility of Blue Palms. Additionally: the fishing poles have been abused by previous guests, so if you are intent on fishing, bring your own gear. The kitchen has everything you will ever need to cook/eat. The grill is in great shape. Dining: skip Island Fish co. Enjoy Herbies for dinner, Burdines for lunch. Tarpon Creek is decent, good for kids. If you want to drive 30 min for a great fish sandwich and beautiful setting with live music, try Lorelei's in Islamorada. Fun: Take the snorkel trip out of Bahia Honda Park and enjoy the park after your trip. Some of the best snorkeling we've had.. 6 ft reef shark, spotted eagle rays, and 300-lb grouper. We hope to get back to Marathon soon. We'll be checking with Tom in order to rent Blue Palms again. FYI, He fixed a bike the day after learning it was broken, Wow!"

  • Birthday Celebration

"My husband and I, our son and his wife and our granddaughter and our dogs spent the week at the home. The pictures are very accurate as far as representing the home and allowing the dogs was a BIG plus since we take them everywhere we go. The cut leading out to the Ocean is a little shallow especially at low tide but we managed to get in and out with no problem and we have a 23' Parker cuddy cabin. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool every afternoon after fishing. The only draw back was they are building a home next door and the crews were there working EVERY DAY even Sunday and Labor day which was totally annoying since we own a Plumbing Co. we hear equipment all day long and to go on vacation to try and get away from everything and have Construction equipment running EVERY DAY was very annoying. If you dont want to hear equipment just make sure the house next door is finished. The only other thing i would recommend is to cut the seeds off the Palm Tree by the pool since we had some pretty good winds the wind would blow the seeds all over the pool patio and pool. Other than that we really enjoyed the home there was plenty of room for us and the bait freezer down stairs was a plus since we are avid fisherman we brought a lot of bait and not having to buy ice to keep it frozen was a big cost saver. I would definitely recommend this property as long as the house next door is finished"

  • Awesome house and pool!

"The house was spotless and had everything you could ever need or want. The pool was the best part! The owner stopped by and gave us restaurant suggestions, Burdines, Sparky's, The Sunset Grill, were all really fun with great food. We even got to see a manatee up close!"

  • Perfect Thanksgiving Vacation

"This house is absolutely beautiful!!! My husband and I usually take a vacation at this time every year. He works in racing and this is our off season. Last year we went on a cruise & this year we wanted to take ALL of our family on a vacation. This was exactly what we needed. All of our family (Mom, Dad, Inlaws, Brother, Sister, & kids...a total of 10 adults & 4 kids) spent the week of Thanksgiving here and I honestly do not have one complaint!! It's the perfect house for a large family! The kids loved walking out on the dock and seeing the Manatees & they even did some fishing. Sombrero Beach is only a couple of blocks away. We took our bikes & went on bike rides to the beach every day! We really enjoyed the outdoor grill (especially on Thanksgiving day)! The property manger was extremely nice. We arrived late Saturday night and he made sure to come check on us first thing Sunday morning to make sure we had everything we needed. He even came back this morning before we left to see if we enjoyed our stay. I can not say thank you enough to the owner for allowing us to stay in their gorgeous home. I would highly recommend this house to anyone that is vacationing in the area! It was worth every penny & We would definitely go back!!!!!"
