  • Perfect for a Vacation on the Water

"We are repeat guests; this was our 5th year at this property. Prior to this house we stayed at a different location in Marathon each year, enjoying our time but not quite what we were looking for. This spot is perfect for those who plan on spending a good deal of time in the water. You have the Gulf in the back and the Atlantic just minutes away, the best of both. The sunsets are amazing! Even the days we had stormy, overcast weather the sky was picture perfect. We are able to pull right up to the house, unload our gear, clean fish & lobster and relax in the pool. My tip – bring a canopy to put over the pool, you will be surprised how much cooler the water is (remember its south Florida). Any issues we have had are always taken care of promptly. After a long hot day, I have to say the a/c is better than my own home! We have made use of the bikes (the path to the Old Seven is a great ride – watch out for big Iguanas, but it’s closed for refurbishing) and the kayak (go left and into the little cove before the island for a calm paddle). For the best Key Lime pie check out Seven Mile Grill – we walk, it is right on the corner. For the best meal go to Lazy Day’s South – just across US1, bring your catch and ask for the Lazy Days way. I have tried to visit so many spots on Marathon, with a camera, and would say my favorite was a helicopter tour. We actually flew right over the property. For the past 4 years we have had an octopus outside at night, a pretty blue, and this year while looking for it a 7ft nurse shark came all the way in the boat slip. It was a first for me to not have my camera and I missed it. My first review was 2012 and I decided not to read it before writing this, I just did and realized I said most of the same things."

  • Florida Keys = Awesomeness

"Firstly, thank you Corinne for sharing your home!! I cannot brag enough about the convenience of the location to all of the Keys. We were satisfied with the house and it was just as explained on the VRBO site. We had plenty of room for our family of 5, the pool was explicit, the bikes and kayaks were terrific and the beach, right down the street, was right on point. We didn't need nor wanted for anything and hated to leave. We totally enjoyed ourselves! There's so much more to see and do than we were able to squeeze in with just a week. I plan on returning soon and would definitely stay here again! ** Make sure to have plenty of bug spray if out at night ANYWHERE in the Keys - not a bad thing just a little price to pay for paradise on earth! Thanks, again!"

  • Perfect Getaway

"We recently stayed in unit 9 for one week, and loved every minute of it. The park that the units are located in is very well kept, and the residents definitely show pride in ownership. The beds were comfortable, the A/C worked very well, the kitchen was fully stocked, and best of all was the outside area. The landscaping is beautiful, and the birds plentiful! So many flowers! The patio was pretty private, and each unit has it's own gas grill for bar-b-que dinners. The units feature original artwork and hand crafted furniture, which was really cool. Hans and Lisa were there on the weekend, and were friendly and accommodating. The jetty is at the end of a picturesque, tree covered path, and it was one of my favorite things about this place. You can see a bunch of fish, horseshoe crabs, and even a small shark! It's the perfect place to go at the end of the day, to watch the sunset. The pool was very clean and the water was warm. I can't say enough about this place! The only bad thing was the noseeums. Not too many mosquitos, but the noseeums ate me up. I came up with a solution that I recommend to everyone: wear long sleeves, pants, and socks at night and in the morning. I brought a very light long sleeve button up blouse, and it kept them off of me, along with leggings and footie socks with sandals. Quite the sight, I know, but the park is so quiet that nobody really saw me. :) This little precautionary measure enabled me to take walks at night to star gaze. To be fair, noseeums are a problem pretty much anywhere in the Keys. Just dress for them. If the opportunity arises again-and I'm sure it will-I will definitely stay here. Grassy Key is close enough to Marathon that you have everything you need, and far enough away to be away from the crowds. Sombrero Beach is the perfect beach-not too crowded, shallow water that is crystal clear, and lots of trees at the South end for shade."

  • Very nice

"Beautiful setting. Very nice and comfortable. Sheets are threadbare and very worn. Pillows need replacing. Bathroom needed downstairs by the pool. Everything else was great. Thanks for another very nice stay."
