  • First trip to the keys!

"We escaped the snow and cold of Michigan to spend two weeks in paradise! " Happiness Is" is just what it says, very happy. We had no idea what we were going to due with so much time. The crab and seafood festival just happened on our middle weekend and it was great. Excellent food everywhere we went and the service was very personable. We took a day trip to The Dry Tortugas National Park out of Key West, long day but worth the trip! The condo was fantastic, it's everything as stated on the web site or better. We could not have found anything better for the money. Plenty of room for us and our daughter. One of the most amazing qualities of this unit are the neighbors, we were welcomed as if we were life members. Everyone helped us out when fishing off the dock or looking for a store. Very friendly people! We simply loved Marathon Key. None of the craziness of Key West, yet everything you need without leaving the island. The pool was always perfect, warm and clean. Went on snorkeling tour, beaches and charter fishing trip all were great! If we get the chance to return to the Keys, "Happiness Is" is where you will find us!"

  • Great House ...in a perfect spot.

"We have rented many houses in the keys, some were as advertised , some not so much. This house was exactly what it said it was, comfortable not pretentious, more adequately furnished and supplied than most. It pretty much was what we would own if we had a house in the keys. The screened downstairs was fabulous. We had some good times there, bar, tv and an incredible view. The dock was perfect for fishing, we caught many kinds of fish, and saw dolphins , manatees and rays. We have stayed at most keys between KW and Islamorada, we find Marathon to be THE BEST location of all. Marathon has everything you want, including great restaurants such as: Frank's Grill, some of the best italian I have ever had, King's Seafood , right up the street, great fresh seafood and fabulous Cuban sandwiches. For a great sunset, Sunset Bar and Grill at the bottom of the bridge. If you don't feel like driving far, Nowhere Pub is truly great food.Breakfast: Stout's and Stuffed Pig. If Greek is your thing, Meditarrane on US1 was a real find. However for us the BEST restaurant in the Keys is Square Grouper in Ramrod, a little pricey but you will remember the meal way longer than the check. Finally , Sandy is a great owner, supernice and easy to deal with. One last thing, as we were blessed with good weather most of our stay, we came to appreciate the comfortable beds and great AC at the end of our day. As soon as our vacation plans plans clear for 2016, we will be back to this great house and location."

  • Simply Perfect!

"My family had the best time at Key Lime Kottage in June. Our two teenagers and two toddlers had the best time in the pool and hot tub. We enjoyed kayaking from the dock to the mangroves and watching the juvenile fish and nurse sharks, parrot fish, and horseshoe crabs wonder around the dock. The sunsets from the dock were also incredible. The house had every single amenity we could ever ask for, and that's saying a lot since our family has such a range in ages/needs. There was a pack and play, high chair, and even a potty for the little kids. The beds were very comfortable, the house was very clean, the kitchen was well equipped, the TVs were awesome, and the games in the living room were an added bonus. There were bonus memory foam pillows in the master bedroom for those who don't like the soft fluffy pillows (like me). Our kids had a lot of fun feeding the iguanas (there were at least 6 wondering around at times). We took advice from others and went to The Wreck next store for lunch and dinner, and of course the famous key lime pie. I have to say that the pie has to be the best in the World! It's a must-try. The food was also very good, and the location of the restaurant was so convenient. If we had stayed at the house the entire vacation and not done anything, we still would have had the best time! A few things we do recommend doing are taking a boat tour with Family Fun Boat Tours in Islamorada. We took a four hour private boat trip with sightseeing and snorkeling, and it was awesome. All of the kids loved it, even the 2 and 4 year old got in the ocean for a little whiile when we snorkeled. Captain Kathy also watched the little kids for a time on the boat while we snorkeled. We also went to Key West for a day and recommend going to the Hemmingway house. We went to Sombrero Beach and Bahia Honda state park. The state park was excellent for little kids and snorkeling, but arrive early to get a good spot on the tiny beach. Overall, this was one of our favorite summer vacations, especially because we stayed at Key Lime Kottage! Thanks to Maria for answering all my questions and for sharing such an amazing property with us!"

  • Relaxing waterfront - clean and comfortable

"A perfect home for our group: five adults and four teens. The teens wanted to share a bedroom and the bunk beds were perfect. The two living rooms allowed everyone to spread out to talk or read while others watched TV; yet all nine fit in the living room comfortably together. Plenty of outdoor seating, although most of us preferred to sit on the wall near the water. Outdoor grilling was our preferred cooking method. The indoor pool was wonderful. Bathrooms are updated and clean. Enjoyed the walk-in rain shower. The "teen" bathroom was perfect -- double sinks in one area and a pocket door to separate the toilet/shower area -- allowed the teens to get ready together. The extra refrigerator in the garage came in handy. Nice washer/dryers. The house is in a great location - close to Turtle Hospital, Dolphin Research Center, Boondocks, Sombrero Beach, Bahia Honda Beach and approx. 1 hour from Key West. The neighborhood is nice for a jog and long walks. We had one glitch upon arrival which Jackie quickly took care of; also the sliding glass doors to get in to and out of the house were a bit challenging (humidity?) but that didn't stop us! Thanks Tudor and Jim, you were fantastic to work with. We appreciate your quick response to our inquiries/emails. The views are breathtaking; the sunsets across the water were wonderful; and the house is beautiful. Highly recommend this oasis; close to everything yet away from it all!"
