  • heaven for the old and young

"We came down for a two-week working retreat with two kids (age 7 months and 2 years) and two Russian grandmas. The grandmas got into a rented minivan at the airport and refused to get back into the minivan until it was time to depart. They walked in the neighborhood, walked on the beach, or relaxed by the pool and were perfectly happy. (In fact they are ready any time to abandon Massachusetts for Florida!) If you want to be in this part of Florida this is a rare spot of single family beachfront homes that don't back right up to the busy A1A highway. Neighboring newly constructed beachfront houses are selling for $8 million and seeing a Ferrari parked out front is not uncommon. This house is an easy walk to a great fish taco place, a fantastic BBQ restaurant (Smoke), and a nice Greek place. You can also enjoy a 1-mile walk to Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, which has ice cream shops, bars, etc. Walk along the sand or on a not-busy road separated from the beach by the towers of Galt Ocean Mile. There is a 24-hour Walgreens a three-minute walk away. It is about a 5-minute drive to Rt. 1 and every possible chain store (Whole Foods, Target, Chick fil-A, AMC movie theater, etc.). The beach area in front of the house does get kind of busy because it is right next to the public access path. Don't expect solitude, especially on a nice-weather weekend day. The kitchen is complete, but hold the onions, fish, and garlic. There is no range hood, there are no windows that open, and there are no screens for the doors. Thus the only way to ventilate the house without letting flies in (there aren't too many but enough that you can't just leave doors open all day) is to turn on all of the bathroom exhaust fans. There is a Brinkmann gas grill ($130 at Home Depot?) outside, but it isn't large enough to cook a complete meal for an extended family. The Internet is super fast, which was great for working. There is a public bike share location two blocks away (at A1A) but the traffic is too intense on most of the streets in South Florida to enjoy recreational biking (too bad because the terrain and weather are perfect!). Certainly a bike is fun for a few miles around the neighborhood and up and down the Galt Ocean Mile. Mirtha is nice and also responsive. Book soon because if the climate change alarmists are right this house will be reclaimed by the sea soon!"

  • Great Apartment in So-Be

"The location and the apartment are exceptional. It's just two blocks away from the great night life and the myriad of restaurant you can find within a five minutes walking distance and yet it is secluded enough to provide the privacy and tranquility we were looking for. We have been taking vacations in So-Be for years as a family and tried several locations. This by far was our best experience. Cynia and Andy were very easy to deal with and the management company that handles the rental on their behalf was very attentive and responsive to our needs. The view from the balcony out of the living room it's priceless, and by itself worth the price of admission. The apartment is exactly as depicted in the pictures you can see in the listing. We have two young kids ages 7 and 12 and we highly recommend this place for a family vacation. The pool, the beach and the park just in the front of the building helped made this a wonderful experience. We are looking forward to come back next year!"

  • Had a nice stay

"Lance was a very responsive host! (And he saved us when our reservation on AirBNB cancelled 3 days prior to our visit.) I contacted Lance multiple times for somewhat mundane items during our stay, and he responded very quickly and respectfully every time. We were very comfortable with 8 people (4 adults, 4 kids) sleeping and eating there, as well as relaxing. The neighborhood, as shown in the picture with the palm trees, was nice and quiet. It's close to everything we needed (you could walk if it wasn't too hot), but didn't feel like we were on top of anything. It was very easy to get to. The house was nicely laid out and very comfortable and clean. The pictures are accurate, but the angle at which they were taken made it seem larger than it is. It was simply and nicely decorated, with much of it obviously having been updated recently. (The second bathroom however, still needs some tub work.) We liked that there was no carpeting, as we have someone with allergies, and we didn't have to worry about the kids spilling. The only thing that is missing from the listing is that the third bedroom has been converted into a bedroom, and therefore has no windows. My sister got some great sleep in there since it was so dark!"

  • Excellent oceanfront view and conveniently located!

"We rented this beautiful condo for a week in early December and absolutely loved our stay! The condo was exactly as shown on the website and was well-kept, comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the balcony everyday and couldn't wait to enjoy the sounds of the waves in the evening. This condo was conveniently located and within walking distance to the restaurants( and there are a number of excellent ones close by and in Deerfield Beach). Every morning we walked the mile boardwalk and every afternoon, we'd walk along the ocean. We really liked Deerfield Beach as everyone was so friendly and welcoming! We would definitely like to return and stay in this fantastic condo with its perfect location and unbelievable view of the ocean!"
