  • Great house & location

"The house is close to town and has a great central location on the lake. At the end of a cul de sac of a pretty row of houses. Master (California King bed) with master bath is on the main level along with a second bedroom (Queen bed) and bathroom in the hallway for general use or for that room's occupants. Upstairs are bedrooms #3 (Queen bed) and #4 (2 twin beds) with a jack and jill bathroom connecting them. Walk-out basement has a futon in an open game room that also has a pool table and TV. The 5th bedroom is also down in the basement with a single bed and is fine but a bit desolate towards the back across from the 4th bathroom. Dryer in the laundry room is ancient and I don't think it really works but who really wants to do laundry on vacation? Living room on the main level is super comfy with plenty of room for everyone. Views were beautiful. Deck was great. FYI- The treehouse is useless- old musty smell and look inside didn't make it a hangout for the kids."

  • Wonderful place for a family vacation!

"We loved everything about this home. The many bedrooms allowed for our married children to join us as well as my parents. We had 11 staying at various parts of the week. Because the house is only an hour or so from Atlanta, it made for an easy retreat, without the many hours on the road that it would have taken to get to an ocean/beach. The lake is lovely and pretty peaceful here. We spent hours swimming off the dock. Most restaurants are about 20 minutes drive away, but the kitchen is well equipped for cooking and there is a Publix nearby. We especially appreciated the second coffee maker. We loved the pool table and ping pong as well as the many board games in the closets and cupboards. The lot is very steep, but the steps down to the dock make the trek very manageable. There were many good trees for hanging ENO hammocks. There is lovely original artwork throughout the home as well as shelves and shelves of interesting books. These extra touches made it feel very homey and welcoming. We would highly recommend this home for family vacations."

  • The Complete Vacation Home

"We had reunion vacation with a number of friends and their families. 12 adult and 12 kids. The house had ample room for everyone and was very convenient to the local amenities(grocery store, restaurants, marinas). The large dining tables were great for dinners and the kitchen was great for preparing large meals. I think the favorite places in the house were the bar downstairs and the pool area. I believe that is were we spent most of our time. The walk to the dock was not too bad just a little steep. We would recommend Port Royal Marina for boat rentals. It was a great week with family and friends. I would highly recommend Chateau Lanier for larger parties looking for a relaxing week. The owners were great to deal with also. Always a quick response with any questions we had. Thanks again for a great week! We would love to do it again."

  • FAMILY VACATION FOR 14

"Matthew's Manor was an ideal vacation rental for our Family Vacation!! Our family, ranging from 17 years of age to 79, enjoyed the lake activities (swimming, diving, boating) as well as the volley ball court and swimming pool. Jumping off the boathouse roof was a favorite! The house itself was magnificent and large enough to allow us to separate and do individual tasks such as read a book, view and send e-mails and enjoy the game room and gym. The family membeers in their 20's spent most of their time swimming in the lake and the pool and playing volleyball. The adventurous kayaked on the lake! We rented a party boat with a water slide for 4 hours and cruised the lake naturally using the water slide to slide into the water. What fun! Maurice was a wonderful resource during our stay. The house is also convenient to stores, movies, churches, etc. Everything about the property exceeded our expectations! Just one suggestion: some sort of railing going down to the boathouse and lake would be very helpful. We thank the Matthews for sharing their beautiful house with us. The care that they give to their property is very evident. We highly recommend this property for anyone who desires an enjoyable stay in Georgia!"
