  • Serene Retreat

"My husband and I could not have found the more perfect getaway for our Big Island vacation. Spacious, well appointed, big pool, fabulous unobstructed ocean views and a fast and reliable Wifi connection. Rachel was always available but very respectful of our privacy. The location is perfect for exploring the island and a haven to rewind and relax. Quaint and charming Honokaa is only a short drive away for all the basic necessities, quirky shops and a couple of very good restaurants. Away from the maddening crowds one could feel the spirit of aloha residing in this verdant retreat."

  • Wow!

"We stayed in four places on this vacation and Kristine and Rick's home was our favorite. The view was spectacular, the home spacious, updated and clean. We had to make excuses to leave the house for a few hours rather than sit on the lanai. Darrin was friendly and helpful. We'll be back, I'm sure."

  • Comfort and seclusion close to Waipio Valley

"My husband and I just stayed 3 nights here after a week in Kailua-Kona, and the house and location were perfect for access to Waipio Valley, hiking, and all the waterfalls and botanical gardens of east coast between the house and Hilo. The views from the master bedroom were awesome to wake up to, and the privacy of this house was great. We loved using the hot tub under the full moon, and the overall privacy that was designed into the sauna/hot tub area was great - while highlighting the views over the orchard and the ocean. Kitchen was great for cooking all our meals; mattress & bedding were great; big bathroom was nice too - with plenty of towels. We didn't use the twin beds in the 2nd bedroom, but the looked great, and that closet had all kinds of beach toys inside. (My only complaint is out of the owner's control: one of the neighbor's across the street had two dogs that seemed to want to bark a lot the rainy afternoon we decided to stay at the house and read. They didn't make a sound at night, so I have to assume they were probably left at home alone. We mitigated this by closing the windows in the kitchen that were closest to the street.) I wish there would have been a BBQ on the deck - but the kitchen was large enough and had plenty of options to cook everything inside just fine. There was an extra bathroom, shower and laundry down in the breezeway by the hot tub that would be great to use if you were traveling with family. The owners provided a basket of fresh fruit upon our arrival, and there were two bouquet's of fresh flowers - which was also a treat! I'd highly recommend this house and location for anyone wanting to get away from tourists and relax, or to hike and explore the eastern coast of the Big Island. We'd love to visit again and spend a couple more nights, as I didn't have time to explore all the cute shops and galleries in the area!"

  • Meticulous and Attentive

"We had a wonderful time over the holidays at the property. Everything is well kept and clean. Our hosts made sure we had privacy, but access to everything we needed during our stay. Any issues or questions we had however minor were addressed literally within minutes. We could not have asked for more attentive or nicer hosts."
