  • Our stay at Lokilani

"Ideally situated on two organic farming acres, this unit is one of four. Let me say right away that this is not a compact group of condos, each unit has seclusion and separation and felt very private. We had family over and used the kitchen to prepare simple meals with local ingredients we picked up at the Waimea farmers market. The kitchen can support four easily, and the hot plate is high tech efficiency, part of the ethos of the owners Matt and Rose. The Lokilani has two showers. Indoor and outdoor showers both felt designed around the Hawaiian spirit of simplicity and comfort. We did not use the decadent bath tub, but we were on the go every day we stayed at Lokilani. We hit the sights of Kohala, the volcano (watched molten lava flow directly into the sea), the beaches of south Kohala and saw family in Waimea, about 10 minutes away. Definitely cooler than the beach fronts (a good thing) and dryer than Waimea (a good thing for tourist), the location is great. Close to the major routes, yet itself secluded we found ourselves able to hike, or snorkel every day except the full day it takes to do the volcano. We were greeted with a basket of fruit from the farm upon our arrival and we were treated to a display of stars at night like I have not seen in a real long time. We feel everything was as advertised and we were not disappointed in any aspect of our stay."

  • Beautiful place to stay!

"The property and cottage exceeded our expectations. The cottage was much larger than we thought it would be, well equipped for a comfortable stay and very clean. The owners are local, know the area well and can help with anything you may need to know. Location is central to seeing different areas of the island. Loved our stay there."

  • Amazing view, great property

"My wife and I stayed for 3 nights recently, and had an amazing time. The location is secluded, but there is a restaurant 2 minutes down the road, and a 15 minute drive into town. If you're looking to get off the beaten path and enjoy a true Hawaiian experience, this is a great option. Good wifi signal, strong water pressure in the shower, so you don't feel like you're too far "off the grid", which is nice. We'd love to come back again and bring our kids with us next time!"

  • Brent Baker

"What an amazing view. Stunning, just as it shows in the pictures along with the peace and tranquility found there. My wife and I just returned and found it was everything it was billed to be. Having seen the short you tube video link we were given we went right to the home. The home was very clean and had more kitchen utinsels/cookware than most other places we have stayed in. The BBQ grill was very clean and ready to use so we grilled steaks one evening and ate on the deck then and some mornings for breakfast as well. We saw whales and other marine life quite often from the deck. They had binoculars there to use. We hiked the steep paved road just below the home quite often for exercise and drove it in the jeep as well. We even hiked across the valley and on top of the other ridge opposite us. It was a great hike and did not see many people on the hike, (it was fairly steep) but safe. If you need beach the black sand beach is right below and accessible. The place is green and lush and very secluded which is what we were after. The location is up north but we did not feel that it was to long a drive to the Hilo or Kona side to see the volcano and other sites and at the end of the trip felt like we woke up and went to bed in one of the prettiest places on the island. Daniel promptly replied to all our inquiries and the home was great! I would recommend it, and particularly for families or larger groups."
