  • Beautiful, comfy, quiet sanctuary on the Hamukua Coast

"My week at Hale Kalopa was amazing and just what I needed! Augustus and Priya greeted me upon arrival and were available at any time during my stay, but afforded me perfect privacy. If I had a question about anything, all I had to do was text and it was resolved - and I only had one question during my stay because everything was set up so perfectly. The bed is SUPER comfy and the outdoor shower - AMAZING!!! The house dog Maya and I became good friends - she came to say good morning every day, and hung out with me a couple afternoons when I took some down time to read a book. The studio itself is just LOVELY! Plenty of room (LOVE the walk-in closet) to make yourself at home and everything you could need or want - even slippas for inside. The lanai is the perfect place for your morning coffee, an afternoon visit with a friend or a book, or an evening glass of wine. On a clear night, the stars are AMAZING!!! I live in the country in Texas, and have some pretty amazing starry skies here at home, but this was something else!!! Although I was on the island for my best friend's wedding, I did get time to visit some of my favorite places - Hilo, Volcano, Ka'u, Waimea, Honoka'a, Hapuna Beach - and Hale Kalopa was a great central spot for jumping off to anywhere on the island. Honoka'a town is about 10 minutes away and has everything you might want or need - visit Big Island Grown for some spectacular locally made jewelry, clothing and other goodies. :) Hale Kalopa was the perfect place for me to retreat from the stresses that come with wedding planning and coordinating - it was a delightful treat to come "home" to the quiet and serenity. All in all, just a delightful stay in a wonderful and home-like retreat. Mahalo nui loa Augustus and Priya (and Maya)!!!! I would love to come stay with you again soon! Aloha! Jenny"

  • A Very Comfortable Place To Stay!!

"Our party consisted of two couples. We were very comfortable at Laura's place. As noted in other reviews, Laura was very helpful in attending to any questions and needs. We were able to check out late to accommodate our late flight. This was very helpful. The accommodations provided well appointed rooms, with top of the line linen and towels. We also experienced house keeping twice during our week long stay which was a nice surprise. The lanai was wonderful and provided a nice space to relax at the end of the day."

  • Breathtaking View in Authentic Hawaiian Setting

"We stayed our first 2 nights in Hawaii at this amazing cottage overlooking the Waipio Valley. You think sometimes when you book these places that the pictures are enhanced and exaggerated. Well, I'm here to tell you that your mouth will drop the moment you park your car and get out. If you are interested in hiking down the valley, don't hesitate to book this cottage. We are explorers, so for us, 2 nights was a perfect amount of time to experience the area and cute, quiet town of Honoka'a. When you arrive at the airport, drive through Waimea, pickup your groceries, then make you're way here. Settle in, have the coqui frogs serenade you into a good nights sleep (if you are a sensitive sleeper, there will be earplugs), then wake up and hike down to the valley. We had an amazing black sand beach all to ourselves and saw horses grazing. The hike back up is a challenge but we looked at it as our workout for the day. You could probably hitch a ride on the way back up if you needed to. After getting cleaned up, get those calories back by heading into town and go to Tex Drive In for lunch and malasadas to die for (can't stop thinking about those malasadas)."
