  • Great Location and great amenities

"Just got back from two fantastic weeks at Mele Kai @ Kahalu’u Beach. Two years ago we stayed at the property next door, Hale O Makai, also owned by Simmy and Michael with a smaller party of five. This year we needed more space to accommodate 6 adults and 3 children under 4 and were lucky enough to rent Mele Kai. Not only are all the pictures and descriptions spot on, Simmy and Michael are wonderful to work with and truly go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. If you don’t see something that you can’t live without, mention it to Simmy and she has always been able to accommodate. Lots of equipment for beach going including boogie boards, coolers, umbrellas, and currently beach chairs with shoulder straps so you can really load up for the day. There were toys galore for the little ones for both land and water. The wading pool shared by the two houses was really appreciated in the heat of July to cool down. The lanai is the highlight of the house and she has a little child gate to close one end so the kids didn’t get away from us. I know the nearby amenities are listed with the house amenities, but I want to push them all anyway since they are just as important as the house. There is shoreline access almost directly across from the house with a tiny sand area and, depending on tides and experience, you can get in the water there, but it is a rock entrance. The sandy beach park is 4 minutes walk away…or 7 if you meander looking at the flowers and great water views between the houses on the way. Kahalu’u is a great beach park with multiple water entrances and depending on the tides a nice little pool forms below one of the lifeguard stands, great for sitting and playing with little ones in the water while gentle waves wash through occasionally. There was also a food truck with snacks and the all important SHAVE ICE! Turtle viewing from above and below water is almost guaranteed. When I was coordinating this trip with multiple families I used Google Earth to show them distances and where the sand was. This location and rental was exactly what our large family needed with plenty of private/quite areas for those needing naps or less family time! Already repeat customers and Simmy will be the first person we contact on our next trip."

  • Perfect for our family...!

"Traveling with older teens (this was a graduation/vacation trip), we needed a condo with 2 bedrooms/baths. The twin beds in the second bedroom with the full bath made this an easy decision. (Along with the short walk to Kahalu'u Beach Park for early morning snorkeling !). The Keauhou Shopping Center is a 5 min drive down the road for groceries, etc. (KTA Superstore, Longs Drug, restaurants, theatre...) which was very convenient. The condo was clean, well equipped and ready for a great stay! The owners and Knutson Management were also very easy to work with and responsive to our emails & phone calls in advance of our stay. We recommend and hope to return!"

  • Great apartment!

"The apartment was large enough to fit three adults - a couple in the bedroom and a single in the pull-out divan in the lounge area and it had everything we needed for the 5 nights in Kahaluu, Kona including a good sized pool. We loved the outlook over the water from the verandah and spent many a night there watching the sun set in the evenings, the activity going on on the beach front or gazing out to the beautiful water usually with a wine in hand! The apartment was well stocked including snorkling gear, and both bathrooms were spacious. Though the villas were 8 km from the main town of Kona, we were able to take the Kona Trolley into and out of town and, if one is really up for it, the walk is pleasant. On the other hand, if one chose to hire a car, parking in the complex is plentiful. There's a well stocked supermarket a 10-15 minute walk from the villas. We really enjoyed our stay at Beach Villas and would highly recommend it to other holidaymakers."

  • Perfect!

"We stayed at the Ohana for 1 week in July. I agree with all the other 5 star reviews, and the house was better than expected. It was perfect! My husband & I shared the house with our daughter & son-in-law. The bedrooms were very private because they are in a separate building from the kitchen/dining room/ living room. One upstairs & one downstairs. The upstairs rooms were connected by the deck and the 2 building are maybe 10 feet apart. This is difficult to tell by the photos & description, but it was not a problem at all. It made the property unique and the upstairs rooms gave you the feeling of being in an incredible Hawaiian tree house with an ocean view. John & Robyn did an amazing job with the architecture & interior design style. It felt like a welcoming home with the perfect amount of aloha. And I need to mention the awesome caretaker, Tom. He was very accommodating and kept the grounds perfectly groomed. Nice to have a friendly local as your neighbor. Can I say perfect again? The Miletich Ohana was the perfect Kona vacation home. We hope we can visit again soon."
