"Five lifelong college girlfriends spent a wonderful and relaxing weekend at the Above it All home. The best word to describe the home is "comfortable" The great room encompasses the entire upper level and provides plenty of space for togetherness, from cooking, playing board games, watching a video and most importantly, catching up. The upper deck was just the place for a BBQ and dinner at the picnic table. We didn't take advantage of that huge hot tub. No time!
Loved the surroundings...trees, trees and more trees! A great area for walking and a short walk to the beautiful club house provided all of the activity amenities one would want. We spotted a few wild turkeys during our stay.
The bedrooms being on the entry level would provide a wonderful opportunity to sleep in, but we didn't. Both bathrooms are on the lower level, no problem for us, just a little inconvenient.
A few concerns worth noting that lessened the vacation feel for us. The toilets are in need of replacement as there are typed instructions taped to the toilet top on how to make them stop running. In the master bath, we regularly had to jiggle the handle and even remove the top, put our hands in the tank, to wiggle a handle to make it stop. Not much of a problem in the 2nd bath. Additionally, having to haul garbage to the disposal site across the Territory left a bad taste in our mouths. Seems like something the housekeeper would do instead of the guests.
Other minor issues, there is only one TV, perhaps, 36" and enough seating for 6 adults in front of the TV. TV seemed really small relative to the huge room and huge, gorgeous fireplace. The great room A/C is extremely loud but does a tremendous job of cooling that huge room.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay and had a great time on our first trip to Galena. Mary was wonderful to work with, timely with communication and willing to help in any way possible."
