  • Best views for the fireworks

"We had a great time staying in Torri's house in Stonington. The location is great with superb views of the harbor and the islands from the living room and a large deck. We found the kitchen well supplied; the cooking stove is gas, not electric, which we always appreciate. The house has comfortable beds. Everything was clean and well arranged when we arrived. We found the cell phone connection patchy on the island, but that in itself can be an opportunity of sorts. The drive to Acadia national park is about 80 mins - the first half of the drive is very beautiful. All in all we had a great, relaxing stay, slept well, saw a lot, and would recommend both the house and Stonington to all our friends."

  • Quiet Way to REALLY Get Away from it All!

"We stayed here back in 2005 or 2006 with our 3 children and I was just looking for it when I ran across it again today. The kids still talk about "our" cabin in the woods! The Johnsons were such gracious hosts, our youngest son remembers riding on the boat and seeing the seals, our two older kids still leave cairns when we go hiking anywhere in honor of that trip. The only complaint we have is that we are now ruined for lobster! Mr. Johnson floated us up next to a lobster boat and we bought their latest catch off them fresh from the ocean. We've never had better lobster before or since! Guess we'll need to come back up to get our fix. The I saw are grown now, but you can bet they'd be there in a heartbeat if we offered. For a family truly wanting to reconnect, their cabin is PERFECT! Can't recommend this place more..."

  • Heaven and Nature sing along the shore!!

"Looking for privacy and unending Penobscot views? Or access to lobsterman and their fresh catch or a well equipped kitchen and your very own vegetable garden? Or an owner who personally communicates and tends to details? This is THAT place! Easy access to grocery, sand beach, farmer's markets and the best lobster roll around. Plenty of opportunities for hiking, kayaking and day tripping. We were drawn to the area for the landscape and all things quintessentially Maine. And after several trips to Stonington now, we have fallen in love with the art and artists and the artisans behind 44 North Coffee, wood fired Tinder Hearth Bakery and Aragosta. This was a great situation for our family and our curious 2 year old and we so appreciate the owners sharing this gem with us."

  • Heavenly!

"As veteran travelers, we have stayed in really cute places, but this one was off the charts welcoming and pleasant. The charm factor is important to me, therefore, we chose this place from the pictures, but until you walk in Heron Cottage, you can't really know the feeling you get. The windows were open with that wonderful Maine breeze wafting through the place, gentle classical music was playing, and gorgeous fresh bouquets of green and lavender hydrangeas and cut flowers from Lindsay's garden and goldenrod field were scattered throughout the cottage to welcome us. I just wanted to uncork a bottle of wine, sit down, and never move!! Her artistic touches are everywhere from the beautiful "expressions" she has painted down to the hand painted floors. The dining room preserved from the old cabin is a beauty to behold! Her flowering meadows have walking paths mowed, there are several fire pit areas to sit by your own fires and watch nature or enjoy the sun going down, the kayaks and canoe are at your disposal for leisurely trips out into the cove, and your very own vegetable and sunflower garden near the cabin abounds with lettuce, tomatoes, and cukes for making an organic salad to go with dinner. Oh my gosh! I cannot tell you how great this place is! Lindsay is delightful and thoughtful of her guests.Too bad I can't run up from Florida about once a month to get my Lindsay's cottage fix. Life is good there on the cove, I promise. Go now while you can!!!"
