  • Great House, Great Location

"This was our first time traveling to Maine, and we are so glad we chose this home for our vacation. The house is located in a quiet location, which is semi wooded. The house was very clean and well stocked with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. The location is perfect for exploring Acadia National Park as well as the other Towns in the area, and is close to many restaurants. We spent most of our time exploring Acadia National Park and did a lot of hiking daily. It was nice to come back to the house and relax in the hot tub on the back deck. The house has a gas fireplace in the living room and we used it nightly, it was nice to relax on the couch watching TV and the fire. The owner is great to deal with, she always promptly answered any questions I had prior to our arrival. We will definitely be renting this house again when we come back to Maine. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone visiting the area."

  • Indian Head Provides Your Family and Friends with Their Own World

"Some of the best things about Indian Head Camp are all the things it doesn't have. No wifi, spotty cell coverage, no TVs, no AC, no neighbors, and there's no sense of time here. Outside of a few sparse modern conveniences, it's pretty easy to feel like you've stepped many decades into the past. Or, staying in the present, the rustic buildings and the primitive nature of the densely forested property can make you feel as if you've gotten lost and stumbled onto a forgotten encampment in the woods. Vacations here are about being surrounded by family, friends, nature and simplicity. Lobster dinners in the great room, gorgeous sunsets on the deck, morning coffee and a book on a beachside boulder, discovering old family artifacts in the various buildings, ferrying the kids out to the rock outcropping in Mitchell's Cove at low tide to hunt for shells, playing lawn games in the old croquet field, doing puzzles on the coffee table, wine and storytelling by the fireplaces at night, taking the first bath you've taken in who knows how long, hunting for driftwood... there are so many easy, simple pleasures to be enjoyed without even going back up the driveway. When you do venture out into Mount Desert Island's version of the real world, there are seemingly endless options for both adventure and relaxation, but there are plenty of other places to read about those possibilities. The magic of Indian Head is how it nurtures much deeper, truer connections—to family, friends, nature and self—than our "connected" world can. It is an incomparable backdrop for creating memories that become a part of you and the people you spend time with here."

  • Great place great location

"We had a great stay at the Cottage. We love the location which is only a mile away from Jordan pound and it was very quiet at night. Nick was a gracious host. He lives in the house behind the cottage so he is always available when you need him. Nick was absolutely a pleasure to deal with. He is very prompt in sending the contract and returning the deposit. Keep in mind mails going in and out of MDI can be slow (It took 3-4 days to and from NYC). You can tell the place was very well care for. The kitchen was very clean and well stock with all the essential items (including sugars and flour) we needed to prepare our meals. There were no cell (Verizon and AT&T) receptions at the cottage. But it's equipped with high speed internet (~ 20 Mps) and a landline. We found the large binder with all the information (restaurant menus, various activities) very useful. Nick also provided a list of recommended restaurants in the area. There are also various maps and book at the cottage. I personally enjoyed reading the book about the history about the carriage roads. As with many people who stayed in this cottage in the past I will certainly return when I visit Acadia NP again."

  • Peaceful and gorgeous, cozy and convenient

"What a great spot. The cottage was very clean when we arrived and everything was in working condition. We immediately felt comfortable and at home here. The only minor complaint we might have is that the two smaller mattresses are quite hard; we bought a memory foam pad to put on top of the one we used which solved the problem. The master bed was very comfortable, however. We prefer to cook most of our meals on vacation to save money, and we were able to do so very conveniently here. The kitchen had all the utensils and cookware we needed, and the outdoor grill worked great. The living room holds a gas stove which is operated by a thermostat on the wall. We really enjoyed the ambiance sitting in front of the fire reading in the evenings, and the stove warms up the whole cottage nicely and quickly. The washer and dryer worked perfectly following the owner's instructions. It is a convenient luxury to be able to pack less and return from vacation with no laundry to do. Sitting on the large deck watching the sunset was a favorite activity during our stay. When the wind was making it too chilly to use the back deck, we sat on the small upstairs balcony which is nicely sheltered from the wind. The view is exquisite from both, and even on the rainy days sitting in front of the picture windows looking out over the water was a treat. Though we spent ample time there, during our entire week we only ran into one other person while on the beautiful, pristine beach. We found sea urchins, sea stars, lots of beautiful shells and saw a bald eagle. We were lucky enough to time our stay at Crows Way perfectly for peak foliage, and the view across the water was beautiful painted in fall colors under the midday or setting sun. This is a very peaceful spot, and while somewhat more remote to MDI than other rentals, we found it perfectly satisfied our desire for convenience and solitude. The cottage is located down a quiet dirt road, tucked back in the woods far from any traffic noise or other hustle and bustle. The ride in to Acadia is around 25 minutes. We made several trips there as well as other points on MDI without ever feeling like the cottage was too far away to be convenient. There are a markets convenient to the cottage as well as a Wal Mart close by. Gail was wonderfully professional to deal with, and our deposit was retuned very promptly. Overall we were extremely pleased with our stay, and we hope to return soon. Thanks Gail!"
