  • Swans Island- small town island experience

"First, thanks Sharon and Jim! Josh and I had a fun time on the island! The rental is located on Swans Island which is accessible by ferry. We brought our car so that we could visit all of the sites on the island. The rental unit is located in a forrested community on Jim and Sharons property. It is well equiped with cooking gear, vhs and dvd collection, linens, etc. Jim provided maps of the island and guidance on what to do. We rented his 2 person kayak and enjoyed exploring the island in this way; observing land, water, and sky creatures. Also went on several short day hikes. A trip to Tim's store was a daily routine for us, but we had also done grocery shopping before we arrived to the island. September appears to be a nice, quiet month to visit. The locals were all very friendly and interested in sharing a story or 2. Beautiful scenery- nice escape! Thanks!"

  • Look No Further. You found perfection on the Quiet Side of MDI

"We traveled to the Pond House Inn at the end of July 2016 with four adults, six children (ages 3 through 14) and two small dogs. Finding an affordable home large enough to handle our entire crew that was also of a high enough quality to match our expensive tastes is always a challenge in a resort area, but this property is truly vacation perfection. The Property The home is one of two on this private road which only serves this property. The main house (the Inn) is adjacent to a smaller house which is where the owners typically live. There is a small pool house next to the main house. The landscaping is world class. flagstone walks meander through the entire property around all of the buildings and down to the pond dock and a variety of private seating areas and nooks. Rustic walking trails traverse the surrounding area and the ridge around the pond. The pond is pretty and ok for limited canoeing or kayaking but we did not find any fishing to be had nor would I suggest swimming. The Main House This home is gorgeous by any standard. The home is impeccably maintained and appointed. This is not your typical vacation home with "antiques" and garage sale-style dishes, sheets, towels, etc. On the contrary, this home was purposefully and professionally decorated and outfitted with the very best of everything. The first floor features a formal living room with a gas fireplace and a chic-rustic dining room--both of which have windows on every possible side overlooking the pond, deck and grounds. A full kitchen with the latest in kitchen technology and every possible utensil and kitchen accoutrements. There is also a nice den with a large screen tv and a very comfy couch and a half bath. The adjacent mud room leads to a wonderful covered porch that wraps around two sides of the house and a central hallway serves as both front and rear entry as well as the stairwell. The master king bedroom suite, complete with the attached bathroom including large jetted tub, large rainfall shower stall, double sinks and separate water closet was ample in size and had the only air conditioner in the house. The other second floor queen bedroom was adjacent to a small office and had its own full bathroom across the hall. The second floor also featured a window seat that was a favorite with the kids and dogs alike. On the third floor, two more queen bedrooms are joined by a third breezeway room that features a twin trundle bed and another full bathroom."

  • Perfect place

"We had a wonderful time at this perfect place. You feel the love of the owners when they renewed the house. They were perfect hosts to us. We didn't miss anything at the clean house and Peter and Susann were helpful all the time. We were lucky to stay on the quite side of Acadia in the busy time of summer."

  • October 9-12

"The house was great, on the water, quiet and quite scenic. It was a pleasant drive to get to several different entrances to Acadia. My only complaint was the towels. They were a bit thread bare and smelled of mildew. They are in need of replacement. Other than that my finally thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had ping pong tournaments every night!"
