  • Great place for a small but active family !!!

"My wife and two kids (12 & 17) stayed here recently with me and our Corgi and we all had a blast. The house was homey and comfortable, and very relaxing. The 1 bathroom created a bit of a line at times, but we knew what we were getting into. The lawn was super for throwing a ball to our Corgi until he gassed. The dock provided a great place from which to launch our small inflatable boat, and much fun was had on the river with fishing and boating. The home was close to many destinations. We went to the Skowhegan State Fair which was about an hour away but well worth the travel time. Boothbay Harbor is only about 25 minutes away and there are great sites and restaurants there -- including Red's Eats in Wiscasset on the way. We also went to the Five Island Lobster Company and to Fort Popham on a different day. Witch Spring Hill Ice Cream is right down the road, as is a large grocery and a WalMart. The town of Bath itself boasts nice restaurants (Byrnes was awesome!), and has a Saturday farmer's market. I would recommend this house as a cozy, comfortable vacation house!"

  • great central location for our "excursions" !

"private and secluded off the main road and plenty of outdoor space for my grand-kids to run around in and explore. cozy and comfortable with great beds and more than enough space for our "stuff". The kitchen is modern and has all the tools needed to create your culinary masterpieces. (three lobster pots in varied sizes!plus crackers and pics!) We love the Five Islands area of Georgetown island and would definitely consider staying here again !!"

  • Great cottage in a great location

"We love Christmas Cove, and we loved the cottage. Everything was as advertised: beautiful views, lovely rooms, and great working kitchen with everything you'd need. Maybe next year we'll do more than make toast and coffee. The porch is the best room not in the house, I regret that we didn't spend more time lounging. The only problem for some will be the steep and shallow stairs which might be dangerous for older guests. Also, Google maps sent us to the other end of the street. Other than that, the place is perfect and we hope to return next year."

  • Gorgeous setting, rustic accomodations

"We arrived on a cool evening only to find there were no blankets,. This also happened to another renter apparently. We contacted Clifford and received a prompt response. He was very apologetic, granted us an extended stay and refunded a day. We couldn't have asked for more recompense!! The cottage is an old place, I would call it a family camp and it needs a little more TLC. My roomate has an allergy to mildew and there was definitely an odour of that in the living room and kitchen area. She had difficulty with that. There was plenty of hot water for showers after a day of painting. As artists, we found numerous gorgeous views to paint, some from the cottage's deck. The weather was too cool for us to enjoy the deck but it is sturdy and the table and chairs out there are very comfortable. The next door neighbor was very friendly and helpful, telling us about the area. The location is fantastic as are the views from the deck. The McLoons lobster shack is a 3 minute drive away and we ate from there frequently. Proximity to Rockland is good, with lots to see and do. I would recommend the cottage with the caveat that it is rustic, you need to be prepared to supplement things like dishwashing liquid, dish sponges, dish towels, aluminum foil etc. etc. Some VRBO properties are fully stocked with all of that, this one is not. The owner is very responsive and concerned and nice to deal with."
