  • Great long-weekend getaway for two

"We loved staying at the Nezinscott Cottage and will definitely be back! George was a very attentive and personable host, making a fire in the stove for us before we arrived and advising us on the different restaurants nearby. But he was also unobtrusive - there is a lot of privacy at the cottage, which we appreciated. He let us stay a bit later on our departure day since there were no new guests arriving that day, which was a pleasant surprise. The main floor of the cottage is very nicely appointed - the kitchen has everything you could possibly want, and the living room is cozy with plenty of games and puzzles. Both rooms are nicely decorated. We especially appreciated the large amount of dry firewood kept in a room off the kitchen! We were there over Columbus Day weekend and kept the woodstove going pretty much nonstop. It rained one day and we were so glad we didn't need to rely on getting wet wood lit (the cottage is heated only by the woodstove). The upstairs is pretty rustic - not a lot of privacy if you're there with a bunch of people - but for the two of us it was perfect. The full-sized bed in the bedroom upstairs was so comfortable! My husband and I are used to a Tempurpedic at home so we're super picky about beds in places we stay, and we both slept soundly and comfortably every night here. The location is perfect - the photos honestly don't do it justice. The view from the Adirondack chairs on the deck was fantastic - we sat for hours in the sun watching the tide come in. On our last morning a group of turkeys came up the hill from the beach and went right past us. Bailey Island is very laid back while still having several restaurants to choose from - a couple of nights we dined in Brunswick which has lots of options. The binder full of restaurant info in the cottage was super-helpful - on our last night we ate at a German restaurant in Brunswick that we agreed was one of the best meals we've had in a long time!"

  • Great Place For A Getaway!

"Very clean cottage with all the amenities of home! The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking and baking and the pantry is well-stocked with paper products, household necessities and extra blankets. There are extra pillows in the bedroom and 2 closets with hangers. The cottage literature is up to date and offers a wide range of things to see and do. Access to a semi-private beach is just down the road! The proprietor was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay!"

  • Excellent Maine Getaway....

"Awesome home located on a really cool island . The house has "everything"....including a professional chef kitchen. Beautiful view of the water and Cook's Lobster house, and another great restaurant within walking distance. We ate lobster 6 out of 7 nights (you can cook them at the house!). The decor and amenities of the house is superb. The island is really quaint, and the people superb as well. Beautiful scenery every day close enough tosee Portland and other areas. House was in great shape. Brett was super, but we never needed anything. It was all there!!"

  • Peaceful Secluded Getaway

"This was our first "family" vacation that all four generations were in attendance. Parents, children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren. 20 of us to be exact, with five of those being under the age of 10. I can't say enough about Sarah and her willingness to help me plan and iron out details for this vacation. She was so kind and helpful throughout the nine month planning process. The house was more than big enough to accommodate our large group. We had evening meals in the great room with all 20 of us sitting around the two large tables. We came from Pennsylvania where it had been hot and typically 100% humidity. The relief of cool air, low humidity, open windows, and no air conditioning was a much welcome break for all us. The short walk to the beach was not an issue, even for my parents who are in their late 70's. The children all found sea shells, sea glass, sand dollars, and had so much fun walking out to the "island" when the tide was out. We walked along The Giant Stairs, visited The Candy Store, Land's End Gift Store, and were able to rent paddle boards for the week. There were plenty of sand toys at the house for the kids who had a fierce sand castle competition. The kitchen was more than adequately stocked with plenty of dishes, flatware, pots, pans, etc. There were two coffee pots, which was great for such a large group. The yard is extremely large and was perfect for the kids. The adults were even conned into a game of wiffle ball. If you want chocolates on your pillow, fancy restaurants, and high end shopping, this isn't the place for you. But, if you want a vacation where curling up with a book on a nice front porch, listening to wind blow through pine trees, and kids giggling in the yard is the ordinary day, this is your place. If morning walks on a quiet beach is more appealing than a bustling boardwalk, this is your place. We had a fabulous vacation. Thank you Sarah for help making that happen."
