  • Relax and Enjoy the Cape

"We had great time at Cape Cod and staying at this cottage was part of it. It is a beautiful cottage, very spacious for 4 people. The open floor plan, vaulted ceiling and many big windows, gave it a much larger feel to it. It was great to wake up in the morning and overlook the pond. At night the full moon lit up the sky and reflected off the pond. The teenage boys loved fishing on the pond, from both the dock and the row boats. They were in search of the big one that got away! The cottage location was great. Even though it is located on Rte 6, it is still private and quiet. Easy to bike to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, and ride to the Salt Marsh trails. The ocean and bay beaches were close by. Sunset at Rock Harbor, Eastham/Orleans is amazing. We also traveled easily to Chatham, Sandwich and Provincetown. Shopping and restaurants in Orleans were convenient. I highly recommend this place to everyone."

  • Our new favorite place to stay on the Cape

"My husband and I honeymooned on the Cape and have been going back every year for our anniversary - 19 years now. This cottage was by far the best place we've stayed. It is very clean and decorated perfectly. It felt so warm and comfortable and we were able to relax and enjoy the calming view of the lake. I love to cook and was very happy to find everything I needed in the kitchen. My husband loved to get up early and go fishing off the dock, catching bass and pickerel. It rained all weekend so we weren't able to take advantage of all of the outdoor amenities but are looking forward to enjoying them on our next stay which will hopefully be sooner than next year!"

  • quiet location near the beach

"When I booked this house, we were supposed to be 9 people from 3 different households from both sides of the family sharing the 2 cottages. Due to multiple factors, it ended up to be 7 people total- one couple, two kids, one grandfather, one grandmother, one brother. The houses seemed clean upon arrival, Grace was good about responding to questions in a reasonable time. I think there should be some information on the fridge just to say what route you are expected to take to the beach, going off the VRBO map it seemed that the beach would be closer but that is a private beach. Cooks Brook Beach is not on Cooks Brook Road, it's on Steele. When you get there though, it is a flat walk out to the beach but a step down to the sand. There is a parking lot, trash cans, a bathroom building (locked when I checked) and a port-a-potty. The weird thing about the house is that the cottage connects through the children's bunk room. My mother-in-law had to share with my son and use the extra twin bed. It was more private though than the family room she expected to be in which also lacked a/c. There were a/c units in the bedrooms only which is fine, the rooms were all of a decent size. I grew up visiting an Eastham cottage and this one also had some of the same type of charm where it looks like it belongs here and the decor is very appropriate. There were things that we brought and did not need but used anyway, provided are salt/pepper, some spices, sunblock, bug spray, outside toys, beach toys, beach chairs, board games, lots of books and DVD's. There was a starter amount of wood for the fire pit. The outdoor shower on side A got used everyday and was a favorite of any other Cape Cod rental one's I've had. The patio set was very nice on side A. There was never a time when everyone was out so security wasn't an issue but we didn't see much traffic at all. I walked down to the beach almost everyday- especially in the evening when the tide was out. Due to costs, we prepared almost every meal for everyone on the trip. By the 3rd or 4th day, we got to realize that the ants were really becoming a problem. They were mostly limited to the kitchens and living room areas, sleeping was not an issue. I contacted the owner who was upset and apologetic, thankful for the notification, but didn't do anything during our stay. It's possible that she didn't want to disrupt our vacation. This was honestly the only negative thing, hopefully easily resolved."
