"This cottage perfectly met our needs for a stay in the last full week of August. The location is unbeatable, as it is a five minute walk to the bay side beach. (As an aside, Thumpertown is probably not my favorite of all the bay beaches, it gets the job done. When the tide is out, there is much to explore. Definitely check the tide schedule, though, because there is virtually no beach when the tide is high.) It's a short drive to the commercial retail and restaurants that line Route 6, including the delicious Hole In One Donuts and our favorite for lobster rolls, Arnold's. Eastham has so much to offer for pretty much any outdoor interest - kayaking, biking, running, hiking. Wiley Park is close and worth checking out, as is Nickerson State Park. Of course the National Seashore is a great spot to visit. Don't miss the Salt Pond Visitor Center, which is free and has trails and lots of great information.
The cottage itself is small, but works great for a family of four. The nice thing is that the square footage is all reserved for the dining and living areas, so it makes it feel bigger than it is. The screened in porch also functions as a third bedroom, so if you have kids who don't do well with sharing, this is a good option. Best yet is the outdoor space, including a Bocce court that wowed, new patio furniture, a large gas grill, a hammock, and outdoor games. In addition, there is a washing machine and clothes line. The kitchen has plenty of pots, pans, and utensils for cooking, with a full-size stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker with filters, and toaster oven. There is salt and pepper, but be prepared to bring any other seasonings or cooking essentials, including sugar for your coffee. You can pick up most essentials at the Eastham Superette just a couple of miles away.
Overall, I highly recommend and would definitely stay again."
