  • bike path 1-min away!

"wife and I got to the cape again this summer and spent most of this trip on the bike trail. Our rental was 1-min down the road and we could race into Brewster/Dennis/Orleans or the other direction to Wellfleet. Tons of safe biking all week."

  • quiet location near the beach

"When I booked this house, we were supposed to be 9 people from 3 different households from both sides of the family sharing the 2 cottages. Due to multiple factors, it ended up to be 7 people total- one couple, two kids, one grandfather, one grandmother, one brother. The houses seemed clean upon arrival, Grace was good about responding to questions in a reasonable time. I think there should be some information on the fridge just to say what route you are expected to take to the beach, going off the VRBO map it seemed that the beach would be closer but that is a private beach. Cooks Brook Beach is not on Cooks Brook Road, it's on Steele. When you get there though, it is a flat walk out to the beach but a step down to the sand. There is a parking lot, trash cans, a bathroom building (locked when I checked) and a port-a-potty. The weird thing about the house is that the cottage connects through the children's bunk room. My mother-in-law had to share with my son and use the extra twin bed. It was more private though than the family room she expected to be in which also lacked a/c. There were a/c units in the bedrooms only which is fine, the rooms were all of a decent size. I grew up visiting an Eastham cottage and this one also had some of the same type of charm where it looks like it belongs here and the decor is very appropriate. There were things that we brought and did not need but used anyway, provided are salt/pepper, some spices, sunblock, bug spray, outside toys, beach toys, beach chairs, board games, lots of books and DVD's. There was a starter amount of wood for the fire pit. The outdoor shower on side A got used everyday and was a favorite of any other Cape Cod rental one's I've had. The patio set was very nice on side A. There was never a time when everyone was out so security wasn't an issue but we didn't see much traffic at all. I walked down to the beach almost everyday- especially in the evening when the tide was out. Due to costs, we prepared almost every meal for everyone on the trip. By the 3rd or 4th day, we got to realize that the ants were really becoming a problem. They were mostly limited to the kitchens and living room areas, sleeping was not an issue. I contacted the owner who was upset and apologetic, thankful for the notification, but didn't do anything during our stay. It's possible that she didn't want to disrupt our vacation. This was honestly the only negative thing, hopefully easily resolved."

  • On the way up

"Overall very positive. All other reviews are right on... This is a property on the way up. Owners are in process of upgrading this tired property. It has nice space with separation of rooms for some privacy or as I case allowing younger ones to go to bed earlier and not be disturbed by the rest of the group. My recommendations for priority improvements would be to put screens in all windows to allow for more breeze since there is no A/C and to change the cleaning company as our overall impression was that the property was not very clean, only very superficially done. Cleaniless may not be as important if rented by a group of adults that are out at the beach everyday but if tailoring to families it is important when you have little kids. As I said overall property was good and in a great location. If we have another family gathering in the future I would consider staying here again. Chris"

  • Terrific apartment, ammenities and location

"This apartment was a terrific place to stay. The property was meticulously maintained from the secluded driveway, flowering shrubs and garden outside, to the details of the interior including everything you might want or need for your stay. It was a short walk to the bay-side shore were we walked way out at low tide or to see the sun set over the bay in the evening, or getting onto the Cape Cod Rail Trail just down the road, or going to the super market just down the road. The location is great to see Cape Cod bay or the Atlantic beaches, many light houses, the towns of Wellfleet or Provincetown."
