  • Nice small cottage with challenging stairs to sleeping area

"Let me start with the stairs to the sleeping area. They are very steep and the treads are short so only part of an adult foot fits on the stair. The pictures do not really show how steep they are. The sleeping is on the second floor and the only bathroom is on the 1st floor. We stayed for 4 nights in mid August and enjoyed the house and the area. The house is very clean and well maintained. We used the hot tub and found it clean. We spent one evening watching a movie from the provided DVD's. There are also books and magazines to keep you busy. The owners keep dishes, pots and pans as well as many other kitchen items for guests to use. We spent time hiking the sand dunes which are walking distance from the house. One can also walk to the beach if desired. If you drive to the beach there is a daily fee of $9 per car. We went up and down Red Arrow highway to visit many of the other towns along the lake. In Sawyer we ate at the Clean Plate for breakfast and the brewery for one of our dinners, both were very good. The best food we had was at Journeyman distillery's restaurant. The pizza there is amazing. If in St. Joseph's stop at Cabana's in downtown for the best ice cream you will ever have. We visited Round Barn brewery, winery and distillery one afternoon for some tastings, I would recommend. The market and produce stand in downtown Sawyer is a must stop as well. We enjoyed the house and would book again if traveling to this area."

  • AWESOME MEMORIAL WEEKEND!!!

"Let me start by saying that the owner of this property should hire someone who would really represent this property to its full extent! This house is so much more exquisite than what it seems in these outdated pictures, which may be giving the wrong idea to lots of vacation home seeking people (I guess they are getting enough business without doing so, that's the best excuse I can think of! ;) ). Of course, the best feature of the house was the pool and we really enjoyed having a pool party. We were bunch of young couples but this place can be as much fun for both elderly and people with very young kids too. Ample of toiletries, laundry, kitchen supply was provided. Internet was excellent. Garage had all the maintenance tools in case you need it. Enough car parking space. And ya, HOW CAN YOU NOT PUT PICTURE OF TABLE TENNIS!!! It was the most pleasant surprise that we had. As I said, the owner need to update new pictures or hire someone to capture the true beauty of the house. Well, I am a human being so of course, I would find few things that could have been better. There was not enough lighting in the pool area during the night time especially if you are sitting at the far end of the yard. Gas grill was way too dirty and required intense cleaning by us before we could use it. Few board games would have been fantastic in the basement. That's it. Apart from this, the place was really exciting and our memorial weekend was memorial. And ya, don't forget to walk lake side which is just 2 minutes from the house. The water was so clean and sunset was fantastic. Ready yourselves for the fun weekend! Enjoy."

  • Beautiful property!

"The home was beautiful and served as the perfect getaway spot for our extended family. The pool was a great temperature, plenty large, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all, as was the shuffleboard game. All of the bedrooms offered plenty of space, and the house was stocked with all the amenities to make our week away feel like home. Kids movies, puzzles, and games plus a kitchen that was plenty large for many families to eat and cook in. The outdoor deck plus screened porch were great for relaxing at night. The home was conveniently located, with just a short drive into town and a five minute walk to the beach. Thanks again for a wonderful week! We would highly recommend this rental to anyone!"

  • Great Stay as Always

"This is our third time renting this vacation home in New Buffalo, Michigan. As always, Linda and Al were great to work with. The house was clean and well equipped with anything you would need (etc. toys for the kids, many towels, kitchen utensil for cooking, spices, lawn chairs for the beach). They provide a free parking pass to the NB beach which waves the $10 parking fee. This is a great amenity. This is an amazing value for the area and we are so grateful that they have kept their prices reasonable for famlies vacationing on a budget. The house is in a central location, less than a mile from the beach and new Buffalo's downtown area . There is a small (free) splash pad for children 5 and under just up the street. The house is locate between St. Joe's Silver Beach (25 min. North) and Michigan City (20 min. South) which has a zoo, splash pad and outlet mall. There are many wineries close by as well. We took the South Shore Line train to downtown Chicago and the whole trip was about an hour and a half. 30 minutes to the train station and an hour to get into downtown Chicago. The neighborhood is quaint and nice, I did my daily run and felt very comfortable in the area. Thank you Linda and Al for this wonderful opportunity!! Our four-year-old keeps telling us he misses the Michigan home. We hope to return again soon."
