  • Memories for a lifetime

"Our trip to the Hygge House was one the most memorable weekends we have ever had. The views from this beautiful home are truly breathtaking from every room. The inside is spotless and the décor/appointments in the home are something out of a magazine. We cooked amazing meals, watched picturesque sunsets every night, gazed at the stars and moon through the telescope, flew kites on the beach as freighter ships rolled by and fell asleep to the peaceful sounds of Lake Michigan. The attention and care the homeowner put into our stay was far and above anything I have ever experienced. She made sure every detail was handled and our needs were met. We are already looking forward to when we can return! Thanks again to Amy for such a memorable trip!"

  • Quiet, Gorgeous View of White Lake

"We loved the view of the lake from both inside the home and outside on the front porch. It was great to have use of the canoes, a ladder to climb down into the lake, and the dock to sit on to read or to talk to those floating in the water. We enjoyed using the fire pit, the picnic tables, and lawn chairs out by the lake. The bike path right across the street was definitely a plus for those wanting to run or ride bikes. We enjoyed exploring the towns of Whitehall, Montague, and even Grand Haven down the road a bit. Our adult children especially liked the Book Nook and Java Shop in Montague. One day we took a road trip up to Sleeping Bear Dunes, which was a long drive but fun for those who enjoy climbing the dunes. The pier near the Whitehall Light House Museum was fun for those who enjoy jumping, flipping, and diving into the water. We loved the beaches on Lake Michigan. The two things we had to be flexible with were the bathrooms and the bunk beds. The only stand-up shower is in the bathroom off of the master bedroom, so we had to take shifts showering. Also the 2 bunk beds were not ideal for adults, but would be fine for children. The bunk beds were not the most comfortable and were squeaky. We had a one year old with us, though, and really appreciated that there was a gate for the stairs and a high chair type of seat provided. It was also great to have a washer and dryer in the basement to use. The kitchen was beautiful, the seating at the table was nice, and the family room in the basement was great. There was a nice variety of games provided also for those rainy days. It was a nice place to stay."

  • a wonderfully rustic cottage

"This rustic cottage has everything you could want - character, comfort and location. The decor is beautifully understated with antiques and quirky decorative elements but is not overly 'themed'. For cooking, it is perfectly fitted out with every piece of kitchen equipment which you could need. For those who love an open fire, the fire is the centre piece of the living room. For those who need a good night's sleep, the beds are comfortable and warm. The location is great, with views from the picture window of Lake Michigan, framed by beautiful pine trees. We stayed for a snowy winter break and had the most relaxing and rejuvenating stay. Highly recommended!"

  • We wanted to book next year before we even completed our stay this year

"This was the first time we used VRBO and so we were a bit leery that the property would not hold up to what the ad said, but after the first night, we were so pleased. The property was clean and everything it promised. It is in a private community with only a few homes so it is very quiet. Also the distance to the pristine beach is just a short walk. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need and the layout easily accommodated the different sleeping arrangements we needed. I learned the home has been in the family for years and we felt like we were treated like family. In fact, we have already reserved two weeks again for next year."
