  • A Complete Gem on the Rio Grande

"This was such a sweet place to stay. Our kids and dog loved the rural setting in the apple orchard and the ability to walk to the river. The family is super nice. We couldn't have asked for a sweeter spot near Dixon and pretty close to Taos."

  • Nice surprise!

"We needed a long weekend before school started and I looked all over southern and western Colorado and was unable to find anything available, accepting of dogs, and reasonable! We found Shirley's place and I have to admit to being leery at first. The outside photos are not impressive and the owner is right next door. Not an issure as it turns out! Shirley is a hands off, lovely, hostess. The floor plan is very open, lots of natural light, high ceilings, warm colors, tastefully decorated. Everything we needed was right there. She thought of absolutely everything. She actually made most of the spanish Colonial furnishings. The house is on top of a bluff. The back deck is huge and the views are amazing. Our kids toasted hotdogs and marshmallows in the fireplace on the deck while we stargazed. There is a bedroom upstairs that has to be accessed via an outside staircase. My husband and I were up there the first night and the breezes and ceiling fan cooled it beautifully. Not a great fit for people with small kids or tiny bladders but, when we traded the following nights with our teenaged boy, he was in heaven! Absolutely Recommend this place. Thank you, Shirley. It was just what we needed."

  • Wonderful Visit

"We stayed at this location for three nights, just before Christmas (2016). It is a beautiful home, in a beautiful setting with fantastic views of the mountains. Our kids enjoyed exploring the surrounding acre in the snow. The house itself is immaculate with modern amenities. Its four bedrooms are large and comfortable, and its three full baths very convenient. I really liked having access to the garage, particularly when the temperature dropped to zero one night and when we came home from a full day of skiing. It took us about 20 minutes to get to Taos Plaza from the location, and about 50 minutes to the ski valley/resort. While there are closer rentals to the mountain, I doubt you will find one as quiet, clean and comfortable as this one (and for a reasonable price as well). We will definitely be back!"

  • Colorado and Kansas Family

"MY husband, myself, my brother and our mother stayed in this wonderful home for 5 nights. We've stayed in many VRBOs over the years and this one is by far our favorite. The pictures and description cannot do it justice. It is larger than one thinks and very well laid out. We enjoyed setting by the river. My mother, who turned 90 while we were there, especially enjoyed the screened in patio. She spent many hours out there enjoying the scenery and reading her favorite books. The kitchen is very well equipped which made meal preparation easy. The home is well supplied with towels, washcloths, etc. Enjoyed breakfast in Dixon at Zuly's. The food and service were equally good. Would we stay here again, you bet. Hope to celebrate our mother's 91st there. New Mexico is a great place to visit with many things to see and do!"
