  • A Happy Place

"When in NM we normally stay with family, however, for Thanksgiving there were too many of us to fit into Mom's limited space. Since we were there for five days we wanted someplace more homey than a hotel room that we could invite family to. When I checked the VRBO web site, to my surprise, Pauline and Gary's place came up and it was just 10 minutes from Mom's house. I was sure the closest we could get would be Santa Fe. When we saw the pictures and read the reviews we were charmed and I just held my breath while we checked on availability. The cottage was all that we hoped it would be and more. It was very clean and had everything you could possibly need for an extended stay. The "more" would be Pauline and Gary themselves. They have thought of everything to make their guests welcome and comfortable and they are just the sweetest. We are still telling people about our stay at the cottage. We will definitely be back."

  • Beautiful Adobe Home, great views!

"Las Luminarias/La Lomita is a beautiful custom built adobe home, nestled up against Black Mesa and looking west toward the Chama Valley and the Hamus mountains. Sunsets are classic/spectacular, either from the comfort of the front porch or at various natural perches as high up the Mesa as you care to climb. The house is passively heated and cooled, and although the nighttime temp in March was below 30, we were snug and comfortable inside without any need for additional heat beyond what radiated from the walls and floor. That is the way to design a house! Beautifully furnished, with a complete kitchen, you can cook wonderful meals or run over to Espanola, Taos, or Santa Fe for your green chili or stacked enchilada fix. We did both! Thanks Carl and Gretchen for sharing your beautiful property, and Jan for welcoming us and showing us around! Your place is a gem and we'll certainly look you up the next time we're down that a way!"

  • great house - perfect getaway

"I came with two girlfriends for a week to explore the area, soak in the springs, hike and hang out. John and Polly's house was perfect - a great space to be in just to enjoy the light, view, birds, space and good company. And, it was a great location for hikes, a drive to taos, a day in santa fe, a visit to georgia o'keefe's house and much more. The house is perfect for open-living and enjoying both the indoors and outdoors. It had all that we needed for a comfortable cozy home-base. I'd love to see it in all weather! I'm very glad to know of it and would definitely recommend it and come back myself."

  • Quintessential New Mexico

"This is our third stay at Lorey's beautiful Getaway, although our first during the winter season. What a delight! To us, this represents why New Mexico is referred to as the "Land of Enchantment". Beauty, culture, nature, unique architecture, light, sky, peace and harmony. All without the feeling of being among the mass of tourists. Wonderful wine, great breakfast, lovely accommodations, and ALWAYS great conversation with the host. A perfect location for outdoor activities, including hiking, photography, cross-country or downhill skiing and snowshoeing. Nothing better than a day of activity in any number of easily accessible locations and return to this B & B for true relaxation! We'll be back!"
