  • The good and the bad

    Paul C.

"My wife and I stayed in this property and had a nice time. The apartment (more correctly, a studio-one large room with a separate restroom) was spotless and very sunny. All of the furniture was in very good shape. The kitchen lacked a baking sheet to warm croissant for breakfast. The location was good...a ten minute walk to the subway at 50th and 8th. Tne building is roughly at 52nd and 10th. There are several good restaurants within walking distance as well as a grocery store and a beer and wine store. My only real complaint with the unit and this will probably come across as a nit, was the laundry arrangements. I have rented units from VRBO in Montreal, Toronto, Washington D.C., Chicago, and London. I always rent a unit that has a washer and dryer so that my wife and I can pack light. In all of those rentals, laundry soap was provided and there was no fee to use the washer and dryer. That is not the case with this unit. There is a charge to use both machines and no soap was provided. While the cost to use the machines wasn't huge, compared to the other rentals in which I've stayed, it was an annoyance."

  • Beautiful brownstone perfect for us!

    Amy A.

"Wow, what a find! Darlyn has a wonderful property to offer! At first I was unsure about staying in Harlem, but it was a last minute trip and Darlyn responded to me first! Thank goodness she did! I found out that I love Harlem and I loved staying in a neighborhood rather than in Times Square as I've done in the past! The place itself is very spacious, the bedroom is lovely with high ceilings and a dreamy bed. The pull out twin beds are very comfortable as well. I am PICKY, people. The kitchen was beautiful and well appointed, everything one would need! Linens were Turkish cotton and smelled fresh and clean, which is actually rare. Bathroom is small, but the water pressure is great and I used the floor to ceiling mirror in the bedroom to get ready, so that didn't matter to me. There's a fan, extra comforters, a rolling cart for groceries, air conditioning that works fantastically. Door dead bolts which I liked. The neighborhood is wonderful with coffee shops, delis, restaurants, grocery stores, you're right by the 1 subway line which takes you everywhere from the village to battery park to Columbia. People are friendly and I never felt unsafe with my children. It's a family feel in the building as well. I imagine coming again in the fall with the crisp weather and being so cozy at this special place. I fell in love :) Don't hesitate to visit this place. Such a gem!"

  • Spacious, Beautiful, Perfect Location!

    Kristi

"The loft is huge, airy, and full of light. We loved the art and the'NYC bohemian' feel to it. It was clean, and felt welcoming. It has a wonderful kitchen. Also, it was so great to have our own elevator. We felt safe and relaxed. We were five adults, so the three bedrooms and three bathrooms were a huge plus. It was a true NYC experience being in this neighborhood, and we could easily navigate on foot or subway to wherever we were going (Highline, galleries, cafes, plays, etc, etc!). The owners are very sweet (and kitty cat, too)!"
