  • Super Sorority Sanctuary!

"The cabin was perfect for our sorority reunion! The cabin is just far away enough from Asheville and Black Mountain to feel like we'd escaped the city, but close enough so there were cute places to eat and shop. We had all of the necessary football channels. The kitchen table was perfect for a large group--we didn't have to feel crowded. The views are amazing! The sleeping arrangements were perfect--plenty of room for everyone and more than enough bathroom space for a bunch of women to get ready in the morning. Though we usually go somewhere different every year, the Wildcat is a serious contender for a "do-over" in the coming years."

  • Slice of Heaven on Earth

"The Azalea House is VERY welcoming and cozy. Reminds me of my grandparents, aunts and uncles homes. The house was EXCEPTIONALLY clean and had EVERYTHING, and much more than, I could imagine needing on vacation. We were in the area for a family wedding at Lake Eden so we didn't get to spend the time we wanted at the Azalea House. Next time we will stop at the store on the way in and settle in for our stay. We didn't have the opportunity this trip but we would love to sit by the creek for hours and listen to the gurgling water or sit by the outdoor fire pit and enjoy the warmth and crackle of the fire while reminiscing and roasting wieners for dinner and marshmallows for smores. Our family still holds horse shoe tournaments and they have horseshoe pits at the Azalea House. We loved that! oh, and the stars. It has been years since we have seen so many stars in the sky! We hope next trip we can meet the owners and thank them in person for sharing such a special place. Also, to note , is town is 10 minutes away and has everything you need. Great shops, antique hardware, grocery, clothing, art and crafts, a variety of restaurants and Hey, Hey Cupcake (fabulous). And, there are many places to explore a short distance away such as Ashville, the Biltmore, Grove Park Inn, lakes and trails, etc.. My husband and I dream of owning a place like this (with the creek) to spend the rest of our lives. We hope to be back very soon and stay longer, not just for a weekend. Thanks to Lorraine and Johnny for checking in with us to make sure we made it ok and were satisfied with everything. It could not have been any better....just longer."

  • Amazing views! You'll love it (but come prepared)

"My girlfriend and I booked this property for a romantic getaway to enjoy the fall foliage and apple season in Black Mountain. This property delivers, believe me. The fall colors and the sounds of the wind rustling through the leaves will melt years of stress off of you. You can see from Hendersonville to Black Mountain and have a private deck with no sign of anyone around (you might possibly be able to see the road below in the winter, not sure, but it's still a spectacular view). It was very windy the first night we arrived so the deck was great for brief excursions more than sitting in relaxing (the wind can really rip through the gorge!), but the view from the living room is just as good and when the wind dies down the deck is hard to beat. You don't need to go anywhere else during your trip to have an amazing time. A couple notes of caution - the property (at the time of this writing) is for sale and because of that I think they've cleared out some of the things you typically find in cabin rentals. There are plenty of pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc but there are *NO* pantry staples at all. Make sure you bring everything you need the first night (cooking oil, paper towels, sugar, spices, charcoal for the grill, wood for the outdoor fire pit) as well as any OTC meds and bath soap (there was only hand soap available). It also appears many of the board games have been removed from downstairs so prepare if you have easily bored kiddos. If not you may have to make a 30 min trek back into town for essentials (I doubt domino's delivers). If you follow this advice you won't have a care in the world! Thanks for sharing such a great property with us!"

  • Fabulous!

"We had a wonderful time in your beautiful log home. The accommodations are above and beyond what you generally find in rental homes. The views are even better than pictured online. Relaxing and calm are the words which best describe the home and location. You are away from it all but close to many adventures in the mountains. We visited Chimney Rock, Bat Cave, Hendersonville, the Biltmore, Asheville and enjoyed every second. There are so many more places to see, but we ran out of time. This means that we will have to return! Thank you, Lori."
