  • Lovely property, located on a small river, off the beaten track

"My family and i stayed here for a long weekend in August. It was very hot, but the cabin air conditioning worked well, and it was cool enough at night to open the windows and enjoy the sounds of nature. The kitchen was well-equipped, the beds were clean and comfortable. The Millers provide entertainment - puzzles, games, movies, etc. However, our favorite activity was sitting outside on the porch or deck, watching the river and talking. We also enjoyed splashing around in the water. Communication with our hosts before, during, and after our trip was prompt and comprehensive. several items were left behind, and they very graciously helped us retrieve them. Lovely weekend!"

  • Wonderful June trip to Montreat

"My wife and I had a wonderful week in this historic Montreat Cottage and definitely plan to stay here again. It is in a very quiet and peaceful area near the Conference Center. The front porch was our favorite place to sit and look out at the shaded yard and mountain scenery. We love Black Mountain and Asheville, but found it difficult to leave the house because of the pleasant feeling of this home and the immediate area. It is easy to walk around Montreat and there is very little traffic. We saw deer in a neighbor's yard on several occasions. It was a very relaxing getaway!"

  • Fun at the Nest

"Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent three nights at the Byrd's Nest. My husband and I had the first floor Master. I would have preferred a king size bed but otherwise it had everything we needed. It has a rustic feel with all the wood trim but has the amenities of a newer home. Our two year old grand daughter and her parents had the upstairs where there are three bedrooms and one bathroom. It was perfect for them. It may have been crowded sharing the bathroom if more people had been there. The house had a very cute old time high chair that worked perfectly for the baby. I wish they had a Packnplay which would have saved us some space in packing in the car. There is a Mr. Coffee coffee maker with filters supplied. The house was well stocked with paper products and cleaning supplies. We didn't have time to use the hot tub but it looked great and the views off of the decks are very nice. I loved rocking in the porch swing and the rocking chairs. The living room space was perfect for us but again might be a little small for a large group of people. My granddaughter and I had fun counting all of the "birds" in the house although at first she was scared of them. The drive up the mountain to the house is a bit treacherous. I can't imagine doing it in the winter. If you go at night for the first time it might be a bit hard to find but I'm guessing most of the houses are that way. All in all, we enjoyed the Byrd's Nest and it met our needs. I would go back again."

  • Great cabin home!

"We recently had our family reunion in Black Mountain, and rented adjacent 3 cabin homes from Sherri. All 3 of the homes (Preserve, Meadow, and Retreat) were in excellent condition, and were well stocked with cookware, games, books/magazines and linens. We enjoyed hanging out for dinners with the whole crew at each house, both indoors and out on the decks. The Preserve and Retreat had fun game rooms for the kids/adults to gather, and the pond and horseshoe area were good meeting spots. The Retreat was the largest of the 3 homes, and has a gorgeous view of the mountains - great for big dinners out on the deck. The one drawback was the steep gravel driveway to get to the homes, and it was difficult for the older adults to walk between the houses up the hill. We came from far and wide - California, NY and Florida, and everyone truly enjoyed the homes and location!"
