  • Fun at the Nest

"Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent three nights at the Byrd's Nest. My husband and I had the first floor Master. I would have preferred a king size bed but otherwise it had everything we needed. It has a rustic feel with all the wood trim but has the amenities of a newer home. Our two year old grand daughter and her parents had the upstairs where there are three bedrooms and one bathroom. It was perfect for them. It may have been crowded sharing the bathroom if more people had been there. The house had a very cute old time high chair that worked perfectly for the baby. I wish they had a Packnplay which would have saved us some space in packing in the car. There is a Mr. Coffee coffee maker with filters supplied. The house was well stocked with paper products and cleaning supplies. We didn't have time to use the hot tub but it looked great and the views off of the decks are very nice. I loved rocking in the porch swing and the rocking chairs. The living room space was perfect for us but again might be a little small for a large group of people. My granddaughter and I had fun counting all of the "birds" in the house although at first she was scared of them. The drive up the mountain to the house is a bit treacherous. I can't imagine doing it in the winter. If you go at night for the first time it might be a bit hard to find but I'm guessing most of the houses are that way. All in all, we enjoyed the Byrd's Nest and it met our needs. I would go back again."

  • Cute cottage with everything needed to cook, sleep and shower!

"It is only a 2 person hot tub, not 3 like we were informed. We made due, taking turns with the other couple that stayed with us. Plenty of dishes for cooking and everything was clean! Beds and pillows were comfortable too. It is an early checkout at 10am... No sleeping in by the time you start the laundry and clean the dishes! Overall was a nice place to stay."

  • Great house for a young family!

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family and I enjoyed our time at Sweet Hydrangea. We have a 5yo and a 1yo. My husband thought I was kind of silly to pick a house mainly because it said it had a playroom area, well-stocked with toys, but it really was a great amenity for us. When the kids woke up at the crack of dawn, I could take them down to the playroom and doze on the futon while they played happily with the new-to-them toys. I was also pleased with the backyard area, which the kids liked, and the front porch with rockers and swing was enjoyed by all. The house was clean and well-appointed, and it is great for a young family! (Though I will warn that the steps down to the playroom level are very steep. Fortunately, there is a door at the top that shuts and locks, so I was not too worried about our 1yo falling down the stairs!)"

  • Great cabin home!

"We recently had our family reunion in Black Mountain, and rented adjacent 3 cabin homes from Sherri. All 3 of the homes (Preserve, Meadow, and Retreat) were in excellent condition, and were well stocked with cookware, games, books/magazines and linens. We enjoyed hanging out for dinners with the whole crew at each house, both indoors and out on the decks. The Preserve and Retreat had fun game rooms for the kids/adults to gather, and the pond and horseshoe area were good meeting spots. The Retreat was the largest of the 3 homes, and has a gorgeous view of the mountains - great for big dinners out on the deck. The one drawback was the steep gravel driveway to get to the homes, and it was difficult for the older adults to walk between the houses up the hill. We came from far and wide - California, NY and Florida, and everyone truly enjoyed the homes and location!"
