  • Charming, quiet and the perfect place!

"This was absolutely the perfect place for our weekend visit to the mountains of North Carolina! Less than 20 minute drive to Sugar Mountain, it was the right location for access to the slopes, while providing an ambiance of serenity. For us, the highlights of the cottage included the fireplace with a well stocked pile of wood, full clean kitchen, washer and dryer, and the back porch for a quiet morning breakfast. The home was well maintained and Kathy was very prompt in any questions we had prior to arrival and during the stay. My girlfriend was sold on it before we even arrived, and I was some what skeptical because of the size. But in all honesty, once I stepped foot inside, i just felt this overwhelming feeling of comfort and tranquility. The size was not even a factor and everything in the cottage gave me the peace of mind that we chose the right place. Normally when you go to places, the way things are laid out scream "temporary". There is no doubt we will return because everything about this cottage screamed "home" to us. We felt right at home the entire weekend as the cottage provided everything, and alleviated any doubts or worries I had about forgetting something. As avid outdoorsmen, we really enjoyed the mix of simplicity and character throughout the house. Originally we looked at some of the condos closer to the ski resorts, but looking back, the sacrifice for a few miles away was well worth it. All in all, this place was everything and then some, and we are excited to come back and stay here for the next trip. Thank you Kathy for your dedication to making this home incredibly delightful and warm."

  • Amazing family vacation at the Sunset Lodge!

"The Sunset Lodge was an amazing place to stay and relax for our family vacation. Everything about it - from the breathtaking views, the solitude and quiet, the clean and cozy accommodations, to the well equipped game room and our gracious, helpful host Bob - was perfect. It immediately felt at home the minute we stepped in and one look at the expressions on the faces of our two sons told us we had made a great choice. There are many little touches that add to the experience - from the frosted beer mugs in the freezer to the family pictures decorated throughout - all made us feel welcome. The furniture was comfortable and cozy, the kitchen had everything you need and then some (even an electric wine opener!), and the three bedrooms provided plenty of privacy and quiet. The game room was a great place to congregate as a family for our daily competitions of pool and foosball. Also, there are many cool, quaint places to visit in the area (Bostic bakery & Blue Ridge Distilling to name a couple) or if you choose, its easy to spend countless hours just sitting on the deck taking in the views or around the fire pit with its well stocked supply of wood. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute and would not hesitate to go back!"
