Recent Lake Lure reviews

"Having lived in Lake Lure years ago, we were unfamiliar with Sweetbriar Farms area, What a hidden gem. Not commercialized, peaceful you felt a million miles away from everything yet it was just around the corner from anything you needed. We will be back. Never heard the chickens, we saw them!!! The place was acceptably clean and owners very very nice. It sure beats the higher priced VRBO in area!!! You will be glad you stayed,"

  • Family vacation for 8

"Loved this home, great place for a large group. Clean and comfortable on the creek with mountain views. Resort amenities are a bonus. The stairs are not for the unfit, but well worth it to have your own ice cold creek to play in. Creek is knee deep with only small fish. Fire ring by river was perfect for evening s'mores. Lots of things for the kids to do inside after a day of hiking. A patio for the adults to enjoy grilling steaks and drinks. Buffalo creek hiking and bike trail access. Packed a lot of unnecessary stuff, house is well equipped. Linen, towels, basic spices, wine openers etc.. can be left at home. Washer and dryer came in handy with four kids."

  • Christmas at Lake Lure

"We rented the home to have a Christmas with our grown children who now live in GA and SC. We loved the outdoor fireplace at night and the shuffle board table downstairs created excellent evening fun. The Home is beautiful, the pictures are exactly as you will find the home. The kitchen and living area was great for family meals and we built Gingerbread houses at the large dining room table. We drove into Chimney rock and enjoyed the town as well as the curvy drive into Asheville one day. A very spacious home and great quality. I would give it a "five star" but the week we were there the lake had been lowered 10 ft. for Dam repairs so we (as well as the rest of the lake properties) had virtually no lake access... I was hoping to Kayak and fish. But that was the only drawback and there is no way the owners can control that."
