  • Absolutely Perfect!!!

"This cabin in hands down the best one I have ever stayed in. It has everything...views, rec room, comfortable sleeping, well stocked kitchen, the list goes on. We have stayed here 2 years now and it just gets better and better. There is no better cabin especially for the price. Additionally, the owner is by far the nicest person I have ever dealt with in our 10+ years of renting cabins. He is kind, accommodating, flexible...honestly I don't think I will ever rent from anyone else in Lake Lure...I am too spoiled by the upscale cabin at an economy price and by the hospitality of the owner..."

  • Family mountain vacation

"Lured inn provided an excellent lake retreat for a large family. Multiple levels with numerous sleeping options provided sufficent space for a large group. The property management team was responsive and efficient. We enjoyed the views of the lake, the nearby creek, the grill, and outdoor fireplace. We rented a boat at a nearby marina for hours of fun and relaxation on the lake (with easy access to the home)! We have rented many rental homes and it is difficult to find a large vacation rental that is properly cleaned. However, I found this home to be one of the cleanest rental ms yet. Aside from sheets with a large noticeable pinkish red stain that seemed to have been washed (anyone making a bed should have noticed), I was satisfied with the cleanliness. I would recommend this home for persons who are able to move up and down stairs with ease and who do not plan to spend a lot of time in the kitchen with multiple people. The kitchen is very well stocked but small. My two year-old had some close calls on the stairs. We loved both sitting areas (and the basement corner for Richmond Spiders as I am also a graduate!). We appreciate the owners sharing their home. We may return when my little ones are older!"

  • Don't hesitate; This place is wonderful

"We spent a week at Witts Inn with a group of close friends (and all our kids). This place was perfect for our group. Here's our take. The Lake: Gorgeous! With the small children, we were happy to find that though it was without a beach the initial few feet were relatively shallow. Worked well to monitor the kids in floats. The two ducks that visited us daily and enjoyed the bread the kids fed them were a bonus! We also rented a boat and enjoyed two great days out on the water. Rumbling Bald is a great place to enjoy the beach (and a park for kids), ice cream, and the view. Go. Fishing was also fun. We even caught a few bass. The House: The layout is great! We used every room and all parties were comfortable. With little ones, it was so great to have the washer and dryer as well as a screened in porch with a door that locked. We brought 4 baby gates, but with 3 kids under 2 we really didn't need them. Awesome! We cooked in a lot. Having a gas and charcoal grill was nice. The kitchen had many everyday items down to a food processor and blender. I will say, the pans were tough. They stick, so bring spray or your own. The house is tucked away in a small cove on the lake making it quite peaceful. The lawn out front by the lake is nice too. We brought a few kiddy pools and let the kids play. We also enjoyed some volleyball with the net that was up. We were worried about shade by the lake, but between the boathouse and the wooden deck across from it there was always a place to put a chair. Even though we brought camp chairs, they really were not needed. There's a half dozen down there (plus a table) already. The driveway is quite sloped, so be aware. You can fit 3 cars by the house, but anymore need to go up top."

  • Comfortable condo by lovely Lake Lure

"My best friend, seven-year-old son and I stayed for three nights at Sallie and Alan's condo and had a great time. Sallie was very communicative and a pleasure to work with. We swam in the lake and the pool (which has a fun 'lazy river'), rented kayaks, took a boat trip around the lake (which includes the sites where 'Dirty Dancing' was filmed - you can rent the movie from the wellness center and watch it before you go!), ate a very nice dinner at the Lakeview restaurant and enormous, delicious ice-creams from the beachside cabana, and played mini-golf and other games. Having stopped at the nearby Ingles for supplies on the way to the condo, we didn't leave the resort the whole time! One thing we really liked about the Rumbling Bald resort is that all the facilities are close together, so you can park up in one place and walk between them. We also had access to them for the whole of the days we arrived and left, which was a bonus. The resort wasn't crowded during our stay. The condo itself was pleasant, with comfortable beds and effective A/C, which was important as it was HOT. Just a five-minute drive to the resort facilities. Neither the condo nor the resort are super-slick and modern, but that wasn't our priority. I was a little surprised to find that the screened porch had plexiglass windows, but it would have been too warm for us to sit out there without them anyway. The wifi was OK but cell reception quite poor for my network (Sprint). Lake Lure is a special place - swimming in the fresh water, surrounded by mountains, is an experience not to be missed. We hope to be back! Thank you Sallie and Alan for sharing your condo with us!"
