  • River House, Chimney Rock/Lake Lure. VRBO #414879

"Our family annually takes a weekly vacation together. This summer, we were lucky enough to choose River House. It was absolutely perfect for our group. The whole time we were there I heard nothing but great comments about how wonderful everything was. The house almost looks like a museum with the beautiful antiques throughout. We particularly noticed how clean, special and welcoming the historic environment was. The total accommodations exceeded our expectations. Rondi, the owner, made our stay there very enjoyable. She was available to answer any questions and she was very helpful in telling us about all the special places to visit. She and Jay know how to create a memorable experience that makes you want to return the following year and our group is already anticipating our return. In the eight years that we have been vacationing together this was the best of all. We highly recommend River House at Chimney Rock/Lake Lure."

  • Fantastic

"Very early spring weekend with the beginning of green! Wonderful house with openness inside and out. Very well decorated with a well equipped and large kitchen. Wrap around deck with beautiful views. Mirror lake is a full of surprises. A very quiet setting conducive to relaxation of all sorts. A weekend to remember. We will be back."

  • First family (summer) vacation in the mountains

"Our family typically vacations at the beach in the summer and long weekend getaways in the mountains. However, this year we decided to change things up and have our summer vacation in the NC mountains. We have 2 children, a 9 yr old daughter & 7 yr old son. This makes our 3rd trip to Chimney Rock but our first time staying in Crimson Cottage. From the online reservation, I knew the upstairs game room would be a hit with the kids (and it was!). They loved having their own space and lots of games. I can't say enough good things about the cabin. It is spacious and feels like home. Plenty of hot water and A/C works great. It's nice that we could wash clothes in their modern W/D. The beds were very comfy and the location is fantastic. We loved being able to walk over the bridge and into town in less than 30 seconds! One of the kids' favorite things to do was take their shoes off and climb on the rocks at the River Walk in town. It's free entertainment for them and nice for dad and I to relax while they are exploring and enjoying the outdoors. We grilled out one night with the grill provided and had planned on making a fire in the pit to roast marshmallows but it was so very hot that we decided that would be a better thing to do in the fall. We had dinner our first night at Old Rock Cafe (we'd been there before). My husband had a cheeseburger and the rest of the week kept thinking about going back for another one, so we did on another night. We enjoy the outdoor seating and friendly staff at Old Rock. The management company was very professional, kind, and accommodating. We would love to stay at Crimson Cottage again the future. If you're researching and wondering if this cabin would be a good fit for your family, believe me, it is!"

  • Perfection!!

"What a house! What a beautiful location! The house was so well appointed and had everything that you could ask or want in a lake cabin. Loved that the kitchen was so well stocked for cooking. The bedrooms and beds were so comfortable and we loved having the pool table on the lower level. Sheets and towels were high quality and those beds!! Sooo comfortable! Having access to Rumbling Resort was an added touch. We love the beach and being able to grab a bite to eat in the resort when we felt like it. No packing lunch! The location is perfect for hiking and exploring. The Puco's were so helpful prior to our arrival with restaurant recommendations and things to do and see. The perfect getaway fro an Asheville vacation. We can't wait to go back! Don't book anywhere else!"
