  • Wonderful Cabin, great location!!!

"My family stayed in Catabwa Cabin for a week in July. The Cabin is in a lovely and quiet subdivision and only a few minutes from the Lake Lure beach. Guest passes for the Rambling Bald Resort are part of the cabin and they allowed my family to swim in Lake Lure, the swimming pools at the resort, play mini golf and rent dvds. The cabin was super clean and stocked with everything we needed. Kitchen had everything needed to cook meals, owners supply basic bathroom needs, cleaning supplies, towels, etc. Cabin also have water toys for the kids, games, movies. Basically the only things one needs to bring are clothes and food!!!"

  • Great spot!

"As others have said, this is a beautiful spot on the lake! The house is close to groceries and Larkins, but feels away from it all. We loved having access to the kayaks, and high jump platform. Julia was quick to reply when we had questions. I would stay again! Note as with most of the houses on this lake, there are many stairs to get to the water. If that doesn't bother you this is a great house."

  • Amazing vacation!

"The condo was perfect for our small family. We had a wonderful weekend. It was situated right on the lake and we had access to kayaks. There was a great dock with chairs to sit out on as well. The condo itself was vey clean and well maintained. It had a nice rustic decor that suited the scenery. The property manager also offered lots of small amenities within the condo such as life jackets, beach towels, spices, a bottle of wine, etc. Everything you would need was available to us. We had a power failure due to a storm and we even found flash lights and a lantern. The lantern wasn't charged and immediately upon calling Ken he stopped by to drop off a working lantern. Wifi connection was good and we had a great time. Would definitely rent this property again."

  • First family (summer) vacation in the mountains

"Our family typically vacations at the beach in the summer and long weekend getaways in the mountains. However, this year we decided to change things up and have our summer vacation in the NC mountains. We have 2 children, a 9 yr old daughter & 7 yr old son. This makes our 3rd trip to Chimney Rock but our first time staying in Crimson Cottage. From the online reservation, I knew the upstairs game room would be a hit with the kids (and it was!). They loved having their own space and lots of games. I can't say enough good things about the cabin. It is spacious and feels like home. Plenty of hot water and A/C works great. It's nice that we could wash clothes in their modern W/D. The beds were very comfy and the location is fantastic. We loved being able to walk over the bridge and into town in less than 30 seconds! One of the kids' favorite things to do was take their shoes off and climb on the rocks at the River Walk in town. It's free entertainment for them and nice for dad and I to relax while they are exploring and enjoying the outdoors. We grilled out one night with the grill provided and had planned on making a fire in the pit to roast marshmallows but it was so very hot that we decided that would be a better thing to do in the fall. We had dinner our first night at Old Rock Cafe (we'd been there before). My husband had a cheeseburger and the rest of the week kept thinking about going back for another one, so we did on another night. We enjoy the outdoor seating and friendly staff at Old Rock. The management company was very professional, kind, and accommodating. We would love to stay at Crimson Cottage again the future. If you're researching and wondering if this cabin would be a good fit for your family, believe me, it is!"
