  • Sad to leave

"We have enjoyed every minute of our stay at Lake Lure's Hide-a-way and are very sad to leave tomorrow. We are a family of 5 with kids age 9, 8, & 5 and not once did we hear "I'm bored" from any of them. The house is large enough that we are not on top of each other. The kids had a blast in the basement game room playing air hockey, ping pong and fooseball. There is also another bedroom in the basement, which makes a total of 4 bedrooms (property description only states 3). The property is very secluded, only one neighbor and you can't see their home from the property. I wil miss my peaceful mornings drinking coffee in the screened in back deck, where I seen deer every day. We also spent a lot of time relaxing in the hot tub. There is a swing set and a trail behind the property for the kids to explore. The property is within walking distance to the flowering bridge and the lake's beach. The beach was closed this week as the local kids were back to school, but it is open on the weekends and that is where we are planning on spending our entire day. Chimney Rock Village is less than 1 mile away and has several shops and restaurants. We definitely recommend the river walk-beautiful! We enjoyed our breakfast sitting on the river at Genny's. There is also a nice Mexican restaurant in Lake Lure. Ingles grocery store is not far and has everything you need to cook meals at the house. We made a delicious salad for dinner one night from their wonderful salad bar. There were so many things to do in the area that we were busy the entire week, but still missed a few things - Sliding Rock will have to wait til next year. We spent a day tubing on the Green River; had a lot of fun but was a little scary in sections with the kids as there were class 1&2 rapids. Linville Caverns and Linville Falls is a great day trip, & you must drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway near Linville-Incredible views! DuPont state park is also worth the trip, there are several beautiful waterfalls to hike to and you can even swim at Hooker Falls. We had a wonderful stay here at the Hide-a-way and are definitely planning another trip next year!"

  • Nice Lake Lure getaway

"Great cozy house with all the amentities. Great lake views and awesome lake access outside your door. Stairs are steep for older or people with disabilities to get to lake (but all Lake Lure is like that), but also very convenient to get from car to main floor. Would like to come in summer to take more advantage of the lake activities but really nice for autumn as well."

  • Cozy Cottage in Chimney Rock

"This is a cozy little cottage in a perfect location. You can sit outside behind the cottage and enjoy watching the river as it flows or rock in a rocking chair on the screened-in front porch and look directly up at Chimney Rock. We liked the fact that you could walk right over to Chimney Rock Village for dinner or a cup of coffee. Our favorite place to hang out was in the family room which has a full wall of windows which you can open and hear the river. Very peaceful! Although there are other cottages nearby, it is very quiet, and everyone is so friendly. We only used the master bedroom, since there are just two of us and it was comfortable. The owner is great to work with!"

  • Great views

"The photos do not do the amazing view justice. We stayed in the late winter, and the area was very quiet and relaxing. House was well equipped with everything we needed. The hot tub was well maintained along with the rest of the property. We cooked most meals there, given there weren't too many restaurant options during that time of year. Usually this is very hard to do in a rental property because you never know what equipment the kitchen will have, but here we had everything we needed and almost everything we wanted to cook great meals. The only drawback I found was the internet speed was a little slow and it made streaming videos somewhat difficult. I assume this is more a function of the remote location and not really anything to do with the rental itself. If you are looking for a peaceful, pet friendly place with great views of the lake below, you should definitely look no further."
