  • Great Setup!

"Two families (4 adults and 7 kids 14 and under) enjoyed a long weekend at this wonderful Lake Lure home. Our kids spent countless hours on top of the boat house leaping into the lake, while the adults chilled in the adirondack chairs lake side. Dinner was enjoyed on the deck with our beautiful view of the mountain-lake setting. Picture are extremely accurate. The homesite is one of the best on the lake in my opinion. House is a lakehouse. Nothing fancy, but purely adequate. Cons: Wifi goes in and out, kitchen is tight but has everything you need. No central air, but you don't need it 50 weeks of the year! For runners/hikers, we went on a great trail run at the Buffalo Springs (?) park, just 10 minutes from the house. Overall, great experience and we would recommend to friends and/or return."

  • Beautiful views! Nicely appointed in resort.

"We had a wonderful experience staying at the Ida-way! We were there for 5 nights over the Easter holiday. We had 7 adults & 4 children and were all very comfortable with each having their own bathroom. The views are amazing with large floor to ceiling windows all across the living & dining room area. It was great that the kids had their own tv & x-box in the sunroom, which they really enjoyed. The kitchen was nicely appointed with everything we needed to prepare a big family meal. We rented a golf cart & pontoon boat & it was nice having the private dock. The owners were very responsive & easy to book with. We will definitely be back!"

  • Livin Large at Livin Lodge

"My family and I had to evacuate Charleston from Hurricane Matthew and booked Livin Lodge as our evacuation destination. I did not even look at the size or price, only that it was available and was pet friendly. What a pleasant surprise!! This beautiful timber frame home at the top of Youngs Mountain in Riverbend Highlands is the perfect get away for anyone seeking a true mountain experience. The house had more than enough room for the 3 of us - you could easily sleep 10 here - there are 3 separate living areas, each with their own full bath. We had everything we needed to make this our home away from home. We have stayed in several properties in Riverbend (and actually own property there ourselves, but have not built yet) and I have to say this was one of the nicest - the views out of just about any window or porch were spectacular! Our dogs had space to go out and explore (on leash) and there was even a tire swing for little ones. It is VERY secluded and although 4 wheel drive is not required to reach the property, we were happy to have it, but that is part of the fun! Visit Livin' Lodge as soon as possible - leaf season is here - you won't be disappointed."

  • Beyond breathtaking! Amazing! Outstanding! Fabulous!

"As I sit trying to write this review, I realize there are not enough positive descriptive adjectives in the English language to adequately describe this cabin and its' owner; I'll try though. - The cabin owner is the most cordial, accommodating, genuine, kind, knowledgeable wonderful owner I have ever dealt with. I have been renting cabins in western North Carolina since 1981...never have I met a nicer, more down to earth owner. He truly cares about his home that he so graciously allows others to stay in. He also cares deeply for the mountains and the area surrounding his cabin, thus he is a wealth of knowledge of all things available to renters and more than willing to answer any questions you may have. - The cabin is absolutely gorgeous! To say it is clean is an's immaculate! The kitchen have everything you could possibly need...and I mean everything! There is plenty of seating for everyone at each meal and lots of room for more than one cook in the kitchen. Both the Great Room and the Basement Family Room have tons of seating and each offers a view of the breathtaking mountains just outside. The bathrooms are large and fully equipped with everything you may need and very, very clean. At the end of a wonderful day, everyone wants a good night's sleep. You are assured of that on any bed in the cabin - all are so comfortable and have high quality bedding for the ultimate night of rest. - The view from the cabin is one of the best if not THE BEST I have experienced in 35 years of renting. You will experience not only a beautiful sunrise but a breathtaking sunset, as well. Due to the location of the cabin it has approximately a 320 degree view and every bit of it is.....well, let's just say....sigh producing. You will want to spend as much time as possible outside on the porches enjoying the scenery. - If you do decide to venture down the mountain the town of Lake Lure is close by. The village of Marion is a short drive away and has many quaint shops and restaurants as well as grocery stores or anything else you may need. Asheville, NC is a short drive away and has fine dining, concerts, art shows in addition to the famous Biltmore House. My personal choice....pack everything you want or need for your time at Carolina Heaven....and don't leave. I cannot imagine even wanting to go anywhere when you are already at 'heaven'!"
