  • Super property for OBX getaway

"We loved the house. We stayed 3 days over the Christmas break and it was a great getaway. Great location to both Duck and Corolla. Very close walk to the beach. That stretch of beach at the OBX is amazing. Close to a great golf course at the Currituck Club. The house had a great layout, was in great condition, and was very clean. The kids enjoyed each having their own rooms. Very comfortable living conditions and the hot tub was a plus. We definitely plan to rent this property again."

  • Our Family Felt Right at Home

"Just got home from a week at Funk 'N' Treasure, and felt compelled to share our experience. My wife and I went there with our 2 teenage daughters (ages 15 and 16), and each of them brought 3 friends. Oh, and our dog, Bella, came along too. That's 10 girls (counting Bella) and me. The house itself is lovely. Very spacious and clean. When we were home, we spent a lot of time in the great room and dining room hanging out, playing games, watching movies, etc. The kitchen was spacious with a very large island and is well stocked with pots, pans, plates, and just about anything you would need for cooking. The kids really enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub, and also spent some time playing basketball out front. We were just a short walk from the beach, which was nice and not too crowded. We were located very close to shopping, restaurants, etc. We were within a mile or so of two supermarkets, which was convenient. We were able to stock up the kitchen the night we got there, which worked out great. We were also very close to a Dunkin' Donuts and a Starbucks, which earned me the responsibility of picking up my wife's latte every morning. We rented bicycles for the kids, who were able to ride around independently, which was nice. They would ride over to places like Timbuck II (maybe 0.5 miles away), which has many nice shops, places to eat, go karts, mini golf, etc. They took turns getting their hair braided, getting matching henna tattoos, and other girl stuff. We went over to the Currituck Beach Lighthouse one afternoon, climbed to the top, and enjoyed the view - I definitely recommend doing that if you ever get to Corolla. By the way, our visit was in late March, and we were delighted with the weather - it was in the low-to-mid 70's most days, with one day a bit rainy and cool, and one day up around 80. Could not have asked for better weather! Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention how responsive Carri Funk was. I had a few questions for her before we arrived and a couple while we were there. She responded within minutes (or quicker) each time. Our family really enjoyed staying at Funk 'N' Treasure, and would recommend it to anyone heading to Corolla."

  • Extremely Spacious and Comfortable

"The house was perfect for a large family's beach vacation. With plenty of room for everyone to gather and eat family meals, we never felt cramped. The house is conveniently located adjacent to the public beach entrance and comes with a great pool and hot tub."

  • Great Place to Stay and Great Hosts

"This was our first time to OBX, and it will definitely not be our last time. The owner was super nice, and very accommodating. Everything we needed was at the house. It was clean, and smelled nice too. There were two adults and 2 children, and there was plenty of space and rooms for other people if our party would have been larger. The sectional fit our group, but I don't think any more than us to sit on the couch, but with all the TV's in the house, you could watch TV somewhere else (we were too busy enjoying the weather and the short walk to the beach to watch anything). The grocery store and other shopping was really close and convenient. The pool and hot tub were both very clean. Great working washer and dryer, dishwasher, all the kitchen tools you needed including a crockpot, pots and pans, baking utensils, strainers, a blender, and everything you could need. There was great water pressure in the showers, and the water got nice and hot. There was a working computer that was connected to the internet, which would be great for older folks who don't know how to use wifi or if your device is lost/charging. There were quite a bit of steps and the kitchen and dining area are on the third floor, so I would probably discourage anyone with problems going up stairs from renting, only because it would be a lot of work to go all the way up stairs for dinner. However, it really isn't that bad, and there are so many ways to get in and out of the house that it was always easy to yell down to the kids to come up for dinner. The house was also stacked with current DVDs and a great selection of games (we played Apples to Apples). There was also some fun mini golfing, and a small arcade/go-cart track nearby if we wanted to go out at night. We would definitely come back to this house, and it was a really great price too. Thanks for having us!"
