  • Has everything you need

"Emmet Smith cottage was the perfect place to stay. It is peaceful and private, but Heather makes herself available if the need arises. Three things were standouts- we could bring our dog(a real bonus), it had a fully functioning kitchen (ate in 2 nights) & has a full size washer & dryer. Also, some breakfast food is provided to get you started ( thought I'd only see this at a hotel), as well as laundry supplies & paper products. This was our first VRBO experience so it was nice we didn't have to think about all the little things & tote or buy them. Also, Heather provides a very detailed list of attractions & restaurants which we referred to often. The bathroom is small, but worked out fine for the 2 of us. If we get back to the area, hope to stay here again. I highly recommend it!"

  • Great spacious house

"This was a great clean house to rent for 3 couples visiting chapel hill. It was in a great neighborhood, minutes from downtown. Very spacious and had a great patio. The kitchen didn't offer much for cooking supplies but we ate out most of the time."

  • Outstanding Woodland Vacation Home, we look forward to our next visit

"Everything you need to experience the best example of a Rental by Owner is waiting for you here. Laura and Brad have found a wonderful setting to prepare a vacation home for their renters. We found the home very clean and stocked with everything needed to enjoy a week away without feeling like we were in a strange place. Towels were stacked up neatly, the kitchen and bath actually sparkled. We were greeted by a kind personalized note welcoming us, along with a " Welcome to The Forest" 3 ring binder that explained every aspect of the home. We slept wonderfully in the queen size sleep number bed, while our grandson slept in the next room in a pack and play left out for us ( along with a high chair). There were some food items in place to start us out, and a grocery store within a 3 minute drive. The home is nestled in the woods, but incredibly close to everything we needed, we found it was perfect to go shopping, then spent the week cooking at "home". We were even able to comfortably entertain several dinner guests, try that in a " hotel suite". Stocked bath, kitchen, laundry, barbecue and living room, all waiting in an idyllic setting. We were visiting family in the area, and have been coming to Durham for 20 years, this time we enjoyed our visit like never before and look forward to returning."

  • Exactly as described, no surprises

"The rental met all our needs. Private bedroom/bathroom for us and our grown sons and daughter-in-law. Dining room was spacious and the living room was a great gathering space, along with the back patio. We loved the details provided in the rental agreement, so we knew what we needed to pack as well as purchase at the grocery store. The owners were friendly, but kept their distance and we never felt intruded upon. We wouldn't hesitate to rent again."
