  • Private retreat - super relaxing

"If you want peace and tranquility in a gorgeous setting, this is your place. When you walk through the horse pasture, the horses come up to greet you. You can stroll around the grounds and see nature in all its glory. We actually ended up not leaving the grounds for a two day stretch. Over the course of our visit we met Alisha, Kathy, Alisha's three sons and Alisha's father. Such gracious and kind people. The cabin is not luxurious but has every convenience you need. Close to Brevard and close to all the day hiking or mountain biking you want."

  • Well appointed and close to everything!

"We were in Brevard for a wedding this past weekend and we chose this house due to it's proximity to downtown and the sleeping arrangements. We were a group of 2 couples and a few singles. This house was PERFECT for our group! The recently remodeled kitchen (which left me with kitchen envy) has everything you need to cook for a group and if cooking isn't your thing, you can walk to so many wonderful restaurants located in downtown Brevard. Not only was the kitchen well appointed, the whole house had plenty of towels, blankets, sheets, everything we needed! The neighborhood was quaint and quiet, the location, perfect. It's an easy drive to I-26 which takes you into Asheville as well. Susan was friendly and quick to respond with all questions as well. Next time we find ourselves in Brevard, we will definitely want to stay here again! Thank you Susan, for sharing your home with us!"

  • Excellent Location - Very Comfortable

"We come up from Charleston to bike and hike in Dupont Forest often during the summer. This location off of Reasonover Road was perfect. We biked during the day, swam in Fawn Lake in the afternoon, cooked out on the grill and relaxed in hot tub in the evenings. The Nuthouse is so nice with the large front porch and very comfortable furnishings. Three times during the weekend we saw wild turkeys along the neighborhood road, very exciting. This place is perfect for your mountain getaway. The owner is a Friend of Dupont and we learned so much about Dupont State Forest from literature inside, that we have decided to buy a place nearby. It's where we want to be. Thanks Helen for letting us stay with you."

  • Great cabin for a mountain vacation/getaway

"Our family spent a week at Flying Squirrel. This was our second stay at the cottage and we enjoyed our stay each time. From hiking on the numerous trails in the deep forests to enjoying the culture of nearby Brevard, activities are endless (don't miss the live music of Mountain Music Mondays at the Oskar Blues Brewery!) Flying Squirrel is very comfortable and relaxing. Our family of four had plenty of space to spend time together and still have our own space, when needed. The view of the lake from the deck is beautiful, particularly on a sunny morning. The cottage is clean and well maintained. The kitchen supplies were more than we expected. Even though we were there in November, we were warm and comfortable the whole time. There is so much to do and enjoy about this part of North Carolina and Flying Squirrel fits in perfectly with the mountain environment. Thank you, Sally, for the hospitality. We look forward to our next visit."
