  • Beautiful Home

"This was my second time staying here. It is the perfect place for friends and family to enjoy. Far enough away, yet close enough to town. This home has everything you need! Will be back again!"

  • ***Good house but BEWARE***

"My extended family and I visited this home for an important reunion, some of us having spent 15+ hours driving. We were grateful to Andy for permitting us to stay for just a weekend. I echo all the excellent things that have been said by the many other reviewers who appropriately rate this house a 5. I must share some important facts for readers interested in further perspective here. The write up and pictures of this set up is unfair and misleading - at least as of this writing. I noticed that others have complained about this as well, so at this point it is just not open and honest. Here's the reality: Andy has bought into a clubhouse on bear Lake. This lake is a long drive away: at least 30 minutes. Yes it is beautiful and worth visiting. But, despite the pictures of it on the VRBO website, there was no description to be found on how to access it, where it is, how to get access onto the private grounds, etc. after seeking help for an hour at a local store we eventually figured it out, but this did not get our weekend off to a good start. We were unhappy that such a simple thing as providing a paragraph as instructions would not of been thought of given selling it on the website. Just a note of clarity: The description of access to a pontoon boat is correct, but it must be reserved and the price of $150 was omitted. I was surprised yet again when I learned this. When we arrived at 3pm the cleaning had not been done. We were greeted with dirty dishes, linens, everything. Our first evening was wasted waiting for the cleaning lady and then watching her do her work through 7:30pm. Andy was aware of this but made Little effort to communicate about or offer to compensate for it. We all found this disappointing and Noted that we would expect never to treat my customer like that. Finally, there is in fact a grill there but it was unusable due to filth. Had I known all the facts going in I likely would have gone with one of the other properties. The snafu with the cleaning with no offer of recompense was poorly handled. That said, it's a good house and location. I echo the positives mentioned in the other reviews. So... A good experience but not accurate on the site. Many ways to improve. Buyer beware."

  • Great views and fantastic location

"We rented this home for a week and had a wonderful time. The location is spectacular as the house sits on an elevated lot right on the lake, so you have an amazing, panoramic view of Lake Glenville, which is clearly the star of the show. The drive into Cashiers is only about five minutes and you can get to Sylva (and Walmart) in about 40. Nearby are many fun natural attractions like waterfalls, national forests and state parks. The home is well appointed and a great design for most groups. The two main bedrooms are on the upper (main) floor (we had the adults up there) and the lower floor is a bit more wide open and was perfect for the kids, aged 8 to 16. The kitchen has been updated fairly recently and the home is nicely furnished. The home has a dock which we used as a swimming platform. Just stroll down the steps and jump in the lake -- great. The drawbacks on this home are minor. First, the unpaved road from highway 107 is a fairly typical unpaved mountain road which may give pause to flatlanders -- but I think it is par for the course in the mountains. Second, the home is older, so the plumbing is a little quirky and it is not appointed with state-of-the-art appliances. It's more "quaint" than "upscale." Our family likes to cook and the kitchen met all of our needs. We found the home clean and the owners were very hospitable. We will be back next year."
