  • A perfect choice for a vacation home

"I am spending our last week here at Pine Creek Lodge. This has been the most amazing month here. I just love this house. The photos do not capture the design, the furnishings, the setting. From the main deck, one can hear the creek. It is so restful. The house is very clean and filled with light. The windows are expansive- with spectacular views of the trees. The decks overlook Lake Glenville. The summer temperature here is cool and refreshing because of the elevation. A nice contrast from our Florida home. Our dog absolutely enjoyed running free around the house, down the hill, into the creek, etc. The common park area where residents can put in kayaks is the most peaceful spot. It takes 15 minutes to walk there. Great workout. We had the use of two kayaks (and a canoe which we did not use). We rarely saw another resident there in all the time we were here. For the first week our toddler granddaughter came too, and especially liked the park, hunting for rocks, making sand castles. There was a swing set too with rings, which she loved. Randy, our host, offered us the use of two bird feeders, the source of lots of entertainment. He couldn't have been nicer, always available. The house had everything we needed. We didn't use the incredible game room downstairs, but I could see that this would be a great house for families with teens. We brought 2 baby gates, as there are stairs. Alone for the last two weeks, we hiked many of the trails in this area, such as: Whiteside Mountain, Ranger Falls at Cliffside Lake, Gorges State Park, Satulah Mountain, Botanical Gardens, the Arboretorium, and all those waterfalls. Bob and I were very impressed with what the area has to offer. It takes us 18 minutes to drive to Cashiers. There was a concert on the green there every Friday. The Bascom Art Center in Highlands was first rate. We rented a pontoon boat twice from Signal Ridge Marina. Breakfast at the Zookeeper Bistro was delicious. The folks at both places were very friendly. I did a trail ride yesterday at Arrowmont Stables, close by. For two hours I rode through the woods, and up in elevation. The views were spectacular. Jonathan and Chase were great! One can visit their new petting farm, a non profit part of Arrowmont, where there are goats, bunnies, kittens and lambs. They now have piglets! A big hit for little ones. I would like to book this home again."

  • Wonderful Glenville Lake home!

"Amazing! The home was very nice! It was everything we had hoped for. The owner, Susan Caples is very detail oriented and you could tell just as you walked into the home. Upstairs is the main entry with a large living room, gourmet kitchen and a very spacious foyer. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs and two bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms share a bathroom. Downstairs, there are two more bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is also a very nice living room downstairs with a game table and doors that go out to the back looking out onto Lake Glenville. The downstairs foyer, which leads out to the lake is amazing in itself. There are kayak's to use, a canoe and a sail boat! Plenty of fishing poles and life jackets are also available to use. We rented a pontune boat from Signal Ridge Marina one day and were able to park it at their dock. There is also a flag pole, which we raised a flag every day since it was labor day weekend. Great time had! Fabulous house and very hospitable owners! We will definitely go back!"

  • Absolutely beautiful.

"The owners of this property really have spared no detail. The cabin is warm and inviting, landscape is perfect and apparently ever-blooming, and the location serene and secluded. Bring some hiking shoes and prepare to be off the grid. Can't wait to go back and stay longer."

  • Great High Ground end of Road Property with Over Views

"Wonderful property that is near the end of the road (2 other properties up hill – one within 100’ of the back of the home and the other across the road). It has 2 downstairs bedrooms and one upstairs master. If you are a Jacuzzi tub sort, the master has one. The place is pet friendly and even has a small fenced in area in the back of the home. The place has most of the basics and all in all is a great place to unwind. Things to be aware of: - Internet • The internet is a satellite service. Weather can impact it. Also, the owners do not want you to stream or have a great deal of traffic on it as their plan is a pay for GB service. If you are looking to use Vudu, Hulu or stream your movies, this could result in extra charges for you. • I could not get the internet to connect to a cloud based sharepoint service nor could I get it to connect to Cnn.Com or, if I could, I could not select one of the pages. I benchmarked the speed and the download ranged between 2-4 mbps and upload was t 0.10 – 0.14 mbps. - No AC – Not that you need it – the temp ran between 67-74 indoors while we visited. If this is a concern for you, just be aware. - Neighbors are close (back porch to back porch is about 100’). Yes it is quiet and that is due to the neighbors being very considerate. When they talk or run a vacuum, you can hear it and the home is close to the screen porch in the back. (Our luck is we always have someone running a circular saw at any property we visit and this trip was no exception but work and maintenance must be done!). To be clear, it was very tranquil and quiet. The bugs at night make more noise than anything! - There are two entrances to the home. The first when you see the home number and then the next left after. The first has big wheel ruts in it right now and need to be graded. I recommend using the uphill drive entrance. NOTE: if you have a standard car the uphill entrance does have a channel that water has carved due to drainage. You will want to approach it at an angle. (see next note). We have a Chrysler 200 and got stuck in the first entrance and almost grounded in the uphill entrance. If the owner regrades the drive, this won’t be an issue. - Higher clearance or 4wd/Awd vehicles are better suited for accessing this property. Overall: Was just what we needed - quiet and relaxing."
