"What an incredibly delightful place! The very private location makes guests feel like they are living alone on that beautiful mountain. And yet, less than 3 miles down the mountain you are back to civilization. The furnishings are tastefully unique, with a rustic touch and gorgeous antiques. Being there was like staying at the home of a friend who was temporarily away. Our two grandchildren loved the Moonshine Shack and we all loved the serenity and view from the deck. With nearby Sliding Rock and amazing hiking trails, there is so much to do--if that's what you like. We grandparents spent our time on the covered deck in the very comfortable furniture, reading and doing needlework, while our elderly dog slept at our feet. How could it be better? P.S. The excellent and accurate photos cannot capture the warm atmosphere and beauty of the place. We plan to return next summer."

  • Paradise High in the Mountains!

"This cabin was such a treat for my wife and I! We haven't been in the area in years and when we were, it was with our children. This time, it was just the two of us. The cabin was spotless, smelled fresh and clean, and it lacked absolutely nothing! Each day, we went on an adventure. Everything was an easy day-trip and we enjoyed returning to our little slice of heaven in the woods. The front porch was a great place for a morning cup of coffee or an evening in the hot tub. I can't wait to come back here."

  • Spectacular home and views!

"My sister and I enjoyed one of the most relaxing vacations ever at this breathtakingly beautiful home with a view to match! Everything about this home is well done and everything is provided for cooking including an outdoor grill. We enjoyed the outdoor deck on both the back and front of the house. We spent 2 entire days just sitting, relaxing on the deck and in the hot tub, enjoying the view and peace & quiet! We drove the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway one day to Grandfather Mountain, visited the Biltmore Estate, downtown Asheville and Black Mountain and enjoyed authentic southern food are area restaurants. It was ALL spectacular. Lori was very helpful and replied to email questions quickly. The drive to and from is a little scary the first time. After that, it's an easy drive and we saw something different every time! One funny note, Lori provides great directions to get to the cabin. However, our GPS kept telling us to turn on other roads to get there. One day, a friend from SC came to visit and we decided to be adventurous and follow the GPS. DON'T EVER FOLLOW THE GPS! We ended up on many miles of dirt, one lane roads and on Bear Track Road, had to back up more than 1/2 mile because the SUV wouldn't/couldn't go any further. Wheels kept spinning because the gravel was so loose and the grade too steep. So follow only Lori's directions to the cabin!!! On the Blue Ridge Parkway, we saw a sign in front of a general store that said, "GPS Trauma Center" and had a good laugh!!! I've recommended this cabin to many of my friends and co-workers and would come back again myself! Thanks so much Lori for sharing your lovely cabin home with us! Virginia B"

  • Did not want to leave!

"I, my husband, and two friends rented the Pine Ridge Chalet from April 1 to the 4th. We had an amazing stay. The cabin was clean and very cozy. Two of the rooms were huge and could possibly hold more people if needed. The upstairs had a loft area with a futon, a closed room with a king size bed and ample room, and a small bathroom with a toilet and tub and sink. One of the downstairs room had a door leading out to the porch where you can sit on a swing and listen to the creek. The kitchen was small but we only used it for breakfast and managed nicely. Most of our time was spent outside. We were able to build a nice fire and roast some hotdogs and marshmallows. You are able to see the Hilltop Cabin, but it didn't bother us at all. It was extremely quiet and felt like we were the only ones on the mountain. The area was extremely peaceful and none of us wanted to leave. We felt like three nights was just enough time to get into the groove of things and wished we stayed for a week. If you are looking for a getaway, this is definitely the place to be. A couple of things I do want to mention. When we were looking at the reviews, all we saw were people worried about driving over the creek. We brought up my small car to save on gas. It's a Sonic Turbo LTZ. The creek was not the problem at all. When you hit the fork between Pine Ridge and Hilltop, things get a little bumpy and steep. There's a sign that says to maintain 12mph till the top. If you maintain that, you shouldn't have a problem but I would definitely recommend taking a V6 or 4WD. We plan on bringing my husband's jeep or our friend's truck the next time we come. Overall, I highly recommend this cabin. It's in the perfect location as it's very close to different sights and the town. The feel of the cabin location is priceless. You instantly become peaceful and forget your busy life. We all want to come back and stay longer."
