  • Excellent View and Very Well Maintained But no communication from Owner

"Great View and beautiful place. Very well equipped with all the needs you need. Kitchen is very well equipped. Few things that need attentions is once you enter to the gate (especially when its dark) you need to make immediate left to get to the house. We went straight and had to turn back basically it is on the direction that the owner sends but who is going to look when cell phone signal is really weak. The owner needs to put a sign or something where to turn. Second we called the owner to get some information about stores and food no response. Called the owner 4 times 3 from the house phone and 1 form my personal number. I believe it should be a common courtesy to return the call back especially when a family is new to this place and have no idea. Other than this issues this place is great and good for families to stay. We might consider renting it again but lets see."

  • Perfect remote off the grid escape

"Hoffman Pond Cabin is a perfect off the grid cabin setup. Perched up high on the back side of a mound to catch a perfect breeze. Veiws are awesome and the night is dark for great star gazing! You do need a high clearance vehicle and if it rains it does need to be a 4X4(trust me on that one). Only thing we missed was not having was a fire ring and the ability to enjoy an open fire at night. That aside, look forward to our next stay."

  • Basic but all you need

"We had all we needed, maybe a few more bugs than necessary but we lived with them. First trip to Big Bend Park area and hope to return soon. Watched a family of sheep on bluff above upper deck; 8 hour float trip through Santa Elena canyon WOW!! Big Bend River Tours 1-800-545-4240 James and Andy were great, they know the river, the plants and the wildlife. Hwy 170 Lajitas to Presidio was more beautiful on return(west to east). Had a wonderful lunch at a small dive The Bean in Presidio. All restaurants were small, casual and the food was good. I will make every effort to book Terlingua House for future visits. Lots of linens, beds were comfortable, kitchen was rustic but every thing necessary was there. FYI we never located a hairdryer"

  • The desert and the big sky.

"Tarantula Ranch provided an amazing backdrop for a great family adventure in Big Bend National Park. Fantastic panoramic views, in an isolated, quiet, peaceful and calm setting. A rustic slice of desert overseen by an incredibly gracious and accommodating host with a love of animals and a tale to tell for every occasion. Clear dark skys at night and regular visits from Maggie and Billy, (resident donkeys) and Curt (the owner), provided the topics for conversation and observation. We started planning our return visit before our time at the ranch was over."
