  • Beautiful property near Big Bend

"We stayed for four days in August and had a great time. The house is exactly as described and has lots of room - for us four it was hard to decide where to sleep first :-) The little town of Terlingua has much more to offer than we first expected - no need to bring a lot of supplies unless you want to save money: the local grocery store is of course a bit more expensive than a big city supermarket."

  • A great value!

"This rental was wonderful. It is fully stocked with all that is described and then some. We came for Big Bend NP and Mula Oso was a perfect base to explore from as it is located only a few minutes from the western gate to the park. I saw numerous new birds I had not seen before right on the property. My family and I also saw a rattlesnake, deer, quail, jackrabbits and we heard javelinas all from the front and back porches of the house. We sat on the front porch at night and saw the stars as you do not see them in populated places because there is little light pollution in the area, quite a show. The owners provided clear, comprehensive directions to and instructions for the home prior to our arrival. Big Bend is really a jewel in our National Park system and Mula Oso was perfect for our visit. We highly recommend La Kiva restaurant out near the ghost town as well."

  • Oasis in the Chihuahuan Desert

"A disparate divergence from our typical car or tent camping in West Texas, we stayed at the Big Bend Getaway to escape the heat and do some mountain biking and hiking. This house is AMAZING, to the point that my girlfriend (now fiance) and I wondered (a) how could we buy a place like this, (b) why would we ever camp again (and perhaps we are getting old), and (c) will a positive review preclude us from ever renting again due to popularity. In all seriousness, this is an amazing, simple, and well-designed house with beautiful vistas and excellent porch space, sited on a wonderful property. In a vast landscape with long travel times, this property is perfectly situated between Alpine, Study Butte/Terlingua, BBSP, BBNP, and Marathon. The pool at the ranch house was great. Wonderful books and games at the house. We arrived via Alpine, stopping at Big Bend Brewing Company, traveled down to Lajitas, BBSP, Terlingua, and BBNP, and then departed via Marathon Rd. through Marathon for lunch and site seeing. Janet was wonderful to deal with and very responsive. Everything was great, and I cannot more highly recommend this place. I hope we will be back in the near future!"

  • Amazing relaxing 24 hours!

"My husband, parents and I spent a day and night at Tarantula Ranch. We loved the sareen and relaxed environment. Unfortunately we could not stay longer because we did not have internt access and I was going to be working on a work project away from civilization. But next time I will definitely leave all my work obligations at home and embrace the amazing Tarantula Ranch experience. The owner is a delight and very hospital! He is very insightful on the history of Tarantula Ranch. He will go out of his way to make yor experience memorable. We are looking forward to getting back for an intire week. You definitely won't regred it. 😀"
