  • Big Bend Retreat

"Laughing Horse Retreat fulfilled all our expectations. The house was well maintained. All supplies for food preparation were available to us, even down to the gas grill having 2 filled tanks. The location to all our planned activities was convenient. Our communications with Mrs. Eby were informative. I do recommend arriving in day light as it is very hard to see the entrance when the sun goes down"

  • Secluded getaway

"We enjoyed the solitude. There was a lot of wildlife, quite a variety of birds, orioles, cactus wrens, flycatchers, great horned owls and others. We saw deer, rabbits and there were javelina (sp) tracks by the pond. We visited Big Bend National park. It is quite a distance from Huffman Pond Cabin so be aware of the commute time."

  • Cute but remote.

"All amenities were provided and all systems to battle the desert heat and shortage of water worked! Beautiful sunsets and very quiet. The only concern is the distance from Terlingua and Big Bend Nat'l park."

  • Mad Max meets Yogi meets Disco Antlers and Pink Kitchen Porch Swing

"Erica was very attentive and quick to respond and check in with us (even though we had no issues). We didn't have a great grasp on the general area when we booked this spot and actually cancelled existing reservations elsewhere when we found it online. Thank goodness! What a wonderful diversion. I don't love 4-wheeling but I was perfectly comfortable on the drive in. Bumpy but nothing treacherous. Worth it to be way out there with nothing but the stars! Our only comment would be cricket chorus that made sleeping a bit noisy - maybe this is seasonal? Thanks for a good dose of creativity and craftsmanship."
