  • Perfect remote off the grid escape

"Hoffman Pond Cabin is a perfect off the grid cabin setup. Perched up high on the back side of a mound to catch a perfect breeze. Veiws are awesome and the night is dark for great star gazing! You do need a high clearance vehicle and if it rains it does need to be a 4X4(trust me on that one). Only thing we missed was not having was a fire ring and the ability to enjoy an open fire at night. That aside, look forward to our next stay."

  • Rustic but comfortable

"This is the perfect spot to be close to Big Bend National Park. Nice area to explore. The house is well stocked for all you need to make for a comfortable stay. Unfortunately we had a couple of bad storms that swept through, the first knocked out the power grid in Ft. Stockton which put us in darkness from 7:00PM until 4:00AM in the morning. The second storm came the following day which brought marble sized hail hitting vehicles and windows, freaked us all out worrying about the damage to vehicles but appears we had no damage. Overall the stay was great. The house needs some attention, we couldn't get the main washer in kitchen to work, it cuts on but only goes for 3 minutes and then cuts off. Light bulbs were out in most of the lamps and ceiling fans. If there would have been bulbs available we would have changed them but known were to be found. The place needs candles in the event storms hit the area and knock out power. we used our flashlights we brought from home. The bathroom between bedrooms is completely HOT during our stay and only a fan to keep it cool. We ran out of toilet paper on our last day and had to resort to paper towels. Other than those basic lack of supplies available we did have plenty towels and linens. Kitchen was well equipped and roomy. We enjoyed our stay despite the little obstacles and would stay here again."

  • Awesome property, couldn't have asked for anything better.

"Awesome property! Very well equipped/stocked with all of the essentials. It was better than I had expected in every way (i.e. better than a lot of other vacation rentals that I have rented over the years.) Couldn't be happier with our experience."

  • A retreat to recharge!

"You want solitude and peace and quiet? This is absolutely the place! This was my 2nd visit to the Retreat and I will be back for more, for sure. The location is wonderful and the views morning and night are spectacular. The cabin is well-appointed with dishes and cooking utensils. Hit the Cottonwood store (if coming from Big Bend Nat'l Park) and you can stock up on groceries for the full-size fridge and freezer. We grilled hamburgers and enjoyed the open porch watching the sunset. You are off the grid, but there is Wi-Fi. It is just a wonderful oasis in the desert. Thank you for opening up this lovely escape for others to enjoy!"
